  1. Congrats tako !! How did you go down there on the weekend ?? Saw you and your mate walk past us at the start of the lagoon.
  2. Cracking fish, well done !! Sure can surprise out there
  3. Having worn crocs just about everywhere from rocks to river banks I simply don't wear them anymore. Too dangerous when your feet are wet in them not so much the sole. When the sole does wear out they are even worse and not only that you can feel the sahrp rocks through them. There is quite a few companies around adelaide that make wetsuits and booties, worth a call !! The ones in Tackleworld salisbury are specific rock hopping shoes with incredible grip/spikes almost. Worth calling kym and asking him to call the supplier on sizes. He had a fair range in store to.What the F... is gooni goo goo

  6. i know which i would do but I am biased towards a bit of ST fun !! you can head out, fill a bag in ultra quick time, have an absolute blast doing it and head in early to keep the wife and kids happy !! If you're good you can even sneak back into a nice warm bed smelling of fish:P
  7. Check out Tackleworld at Salisbury, Kym has a nice selection of rock fishing shoes in his upstairs section. Very grippy !!!
  8. Spog can I suggest you have a look at some of the threads that people have talked about the equipment they use for this type of fishing. The last thing you want to do is put very fine braid on a 4000 series reel that was made 20 years ago as you're going t oget into trouble straight away. What del said about knots in the first week when starting out with braid is all too true. The beter the quality will see you get less but initially you WILL get knots. There is a bit a techinque when using ultra light gear and it may be worth trying out someones gear before you go setting yourself up.Once you
  9. Before I purchased the sol rod and reel, i was using the Caldia Kix 2004 on a 3 piece Mexican Raider II and still love it. Take it out as often as possible, in fact, i will be taking it to Browns this weekend in case they come in close !! Should be a good test for it. It has handled salmon upto 50cm before with no worries.... best $100 rod around in my eyes !
  10. I've had both and prefer the sol. The tcurve is a gutsy rod and I do prefer the shorter butt, but in the end just kept going back to the sol...love it !!
  11. Good advice Station..one more thing, once you have it fitted, cut or tape up all excess strap, na dget rid of all unneccesaary zip toggles etc... they will catch your line and have you wishing you did it earlier. There's nothing worse than being in the middle of a hot session and have to make your way to a suitable dry position to have to take off the back pack, put the rod down and untangle line from your backpack !!
  12. I use a small, light weight caribee that has a main compartment and two smaller at the front. Main has an insulated section for a bladder which is where I throw the Sp's to keep them cool. Plenty of room for lure boxes and I always carry a few big ziplock bags for taking a few fish home for dinner. Two smaller compartments are perfect for leader, pliers, braid scissors, camera while the other takes the phone, wallet keys...Perfect for lure chucking and long walks along rock, beach, dams etc...
  13. Too bad Tyke, I would know that bit of sky anywhere, might as well gove me the GPS marks to save confusion Nah, nice fish mate and congrats on the PB !! anything else caught today ??
  14. Nice work MC.Gotta love the fishign up north.Got a mate posted to Townsville ATM who is catching tuna, queenies, macks this, that and the other 80km off shore then hits the back water in the yak and gets 1mt barra from his yak !! NOT FAIR !!
  15. Can't wait to get into something that size in a few weeks !! Hit Southport this morning for only one st, tomorrow try the rocks me thinks ! Getting the gear squared away for the trip
  16. Coorong Sp Salmon. Great way to test the new bream gear.
  17. AHHHH.... good tip for young players !!
  18. And that's exactly why it went in the bin. Wind knots every cast had me that frustrated that I cracked the shits big time !! Didn;t have a wind knot in over a year with the good stuff ( and that's using it a fair bit) until it got a bit ratty and twisty. Stripped it off and re-sppoled with the remaining line and should last me another year!!
  19. i bought shit line from Annacondo once, cost me maybe $20 for a 300mtr spool of 6lb braid. Good value i thought... wrong!!It came off after the first session.I then did my home work and found some great stuff at what I thought was a reasonable price for my specifice purpose. Has been on for over a year now. speak volumes really !!

  21. cheap stuff but it's cheap for a reason.. it's shit !! No cheaper than any other of their stores
  22. If you wanted a job in the tackle industry i'm sure you wouldn't say no to working at BCF even if it is just a foot in the door.I gave one of the guys there a few weeks back a lesson on blades. Then talked him into joining SAFWAA and strikehook !!!

  24. marko wrote: sounds like it's time for a bigger smoker then :silly: If you go to some of the slaughter houses and ask them what they do with their knives when they dispose of them you may be in luck. I got a couple of old victorinox knives form a mate that works in a abotoir that sharpen up beautifully ( as you would expect from a butcher and a world famous knife)By the time the butcher has finished with them they are a great shape and size for fish.
