  1. Hi all, been a bit busy of late due to work an especially uni commitments. However, I am lucky enough to have inherited some new plastics from work; the Zman CrustaceaZ and 3.5' Grubs. Both look like killer lures, especially the CrustaceaZ for bream around WL pontoons or rockwalls. Also reckon they'd be great for Redfin and trout in the fresh. 3.5' Grubs will become a favourite of mine for schoolies and salmon I think
  2. My kayak is simply turned upside down with equal nose and tail overhang at each end. Haven't had a problem with my 9fter tied down with two ratchet straps going 110 along the freeway. If you're after a secondary support or similar, have a look at Rhino Racks or Rolla branded ones.
  3. Just saw this on TW Metro Dutchy: http://www.tackleworldadelaide.com.au/products/Okuma-Salina-II-Rod.html Looks like they're getting rid of the II models and concentrating on the III's now.
  4. Hmmmm wondering if this report snuck under the radar??? Nice video Alex, unlucky not to bag another schoolie like the first time we were there. Keep at it and you'll eventually get one. Or you could find some larger bream coming through the river ready to spawn up the top
  5. I've only used the double uni for all my leader knots under 20lb and never had any problems. But the FG knot is a really good knot to learn and the more you practice it, the easier and less time you'll spend tying it.
  6. I rarely ever berley, probably due to me using lures mostly. However, if I am after tommies, gar, salmon trout or even carp I simply use a loaf of bread in various ways. For the first three, simply leaving the bread out to dry and then rubbing a slice between my palms makes lots of little crumbs and some larger pieces. This results in some of the bread floating and some of it slowly sinking, and therefore works the whole water column. You can also add some aniseed bran as well if needed. Alternatively you can create dense breadballs with some aniseed oil or bran if you want to target fish not
  7. Anglers Choice would be the best bet if you're wanting just the part for the reel, take the reel with you and show them the part(s) you're after and they should be able to help you out If not then head to BCF and see if the claim and warranty will go through.
  8. Hi T1ppo, if you can't find the receipt it is possible to have proof of purchase via the BCF Club Member card. The card has details of what purchases were made over a period of time (unsure how long though). The Stradic FJ are sold by BCF definitely, I bought the 1000 two years back and they're still in stock. As mentioned it should be covered by the Shimano warranty but you'd have to discuss it with the store members at Noarlunga. If all else fails, Anglers Choice on Beach Road Christies Beach is a shimano specialist that should be able to order in parts from the reel. I lost my drag knob
  9. Many places should have salmon trout and bream at some stage with areas such as Garden Island boardwalk, Hotwater outlet rocks, Snowdens Beach, etc.
  10. At the moment you could catch some salmon trout for bait as they are pretty thick at times. I generally target bream up there and they're not really a common fish that people use as bait.
  11. I live down south so mainly fish there but I do get around. Most of my fishing north of the city is around West Lakes, the Port River, etc. Down South I fish the Onk, the Pat, Seacliff, Hallett Cove and jetties from Glenelg south in metro adelaide.
  12. It's difficult in places but it's not exactly a walk in the park I'm told. I have no idea on locations up there, never fished off the breakwater. But I'd suggest that tommies, gar, salmon trout are found in various areas along the breakwater, mullet prefer the shallows and squid could be anywhere with weed on the bottom.
  13. I'd suggest going light first off, depending on how far you're going to walk. Have a general pack of tackle such as hooks, floats and sinkers depending on what you're planning on targetting. Size 6 or 10 longshank, size 4, 1 and 3/0 octopus style hooks should cover most species. Sinkers from 1g up to 45g. Some swivels and 10lb line should go alright for rigs. Floats like your tommie floats or squid floats could be added. Could also pack a few lures such as soft plastics in the 60-100mm range with some jigheads of 1/8 to 1/16th for salmon trout. Could also add a squid jag 3.0 just in case.
  14. Looks really nice Kelvin! Great work there and I hope we'll get to see a report of the first chance it gets to load up
  15. Nice work Dylbaa! Good to see some large model salmon are getting around, hopefully they move up to the metro coast during winter And hopefully the salmon trout move into the Coorong and bring in some spring time mulloway and bream.
  16. I chase schoolies in the yak down the coorong with plastics with a 1-3kg bream rod with 5lb braid as the ones I catch are mostly smaller than 55cm. I'd suggest a 2-5 or 4-6kg rod with 10-15lb braid for the larger models with a 2500 or 4000 sized reel. For down the Glenelg they get to a metre so 15lb would suffice with upped leader but for the Coorong you can go lightish with 10lb adequate.
  17. Although I haven't owned the rod or reels, I know the reels are of very high quality and would be perfect for the job. For rods, it depends on whether you want a graphite or glass rod. Plenty of options to choose from though.
  18. Although I don't get out on boats very often for snapper, my combo is a Daiwa Aird 4000 with 15lb braid matched to a Daiwa Laguna 701MHFS 8-17lb. This combo is realtively cheap plus I swap the reel over on other rods like my beach rod for salmon. For whiting I use my 1-3kg Samaki Zing and a Stradic 1000FJ with 5lb braid as this is my combo used for all of my light tackle fishing.
  19. Sambos at Waits this arvo, work at BCF saturday, Sunday salmon again and Monday perhaps a freshwater trip. Hopefully have a few reports to post by the end of the weekend.
  20. My most memorable catch after my first ever fish (A bream from the Onk) is my first ever lure caught fish. It was a scorching hot day over Summer in 2011 down at Portland in Vic and after bombing out on the snapper charter, my attention turned to the trip home. As we were passing through Nelson on the way home I asked dad if we could stop and have one last fish. We stopped at an information guide and I found a little brochure for a tour of the Glenelg by boat and the name on the brochure was that of an angler I knew from the TV. After pestering dad for a while, he rang the number and surpr
  21. Cheers guys, when I fish off the rocks, the burley starts to flow and I'll see what comes along. Also is there any chance of getting eagle rays off the beach at Hardwicke or towards Flaherty? Never tried for rays before but have suitable gear.
  22. Thanks Pauly, I've had success in previous years fishing at first light until mid-morning and then move to other beaches and hit nothing. Last time was 1.5kg fish schooled up at the rocky point at the end of the beach by dolphins. Great fun on 6lb braid and 2-4kg rods. Just hoping to get into a school of salmon somewhere down the foot but it's around 1.5 hours to get to Brown's from Hardwicke, so just looking at shorter options.
  23. Thanks guys, Pretty much exactly the type of info I'm after Underpants. Hopefully I can pin a few rockfish that give a nice fight such as drummer. If not I'll hit some salmon along the foot with Browns being a kind-of last resort. Being winter, surely there'll be some salmon running along the Foot.
  24. Alright guys and girls, I have just been told by friends that I'm heading down to the Foot in late July, with homebase in Hardwicke Bay. Now I have searched through the forum and figure I will hit Point Turton most nights for squid, snook, gar, tommies, etc. But I was wondering where to head if I want some good beach/rock action with salmon or sweep, etc? I have previously been to Brown's a few times and had mixed success in the early morning with lures and hit the rocks at Stenhouse for tommies and rockfish. Just after some tips for landbased action down the foot, mostly locations whe
  25. I'm pretty sure it was purple and yellow rattlesnakes Poppa Snake. Care to test this out in Sunday on the Wrong Spot??
