    cockles

If there is one thing that i love more than fishing is surfing. Headed down to cliffs first thing this morning with family, had a surf for a few hours. put the board in the car.got out the esky, got our quota in half an hour. Off to the bakery for a feed and home. Bagged the cockles up. Fuel $20. Saving on Cockles $150 ish. Have to be happy with that.
  8. In close in the bay for squid and as many gar you want. head out to "The Patch" for some tingers and the biggest puffer fish i have ever seen.
  9. Gday allAfter finally getting some blueys down brighton yesterday i invested in a 38L crab cooker.I previously used the camping type 2 burner stove (fold down coleman )to bring the water to boiling, but a much smaller 10L pot. worked ok for a few crabs. Am thinking that i now need to buy one of those cast iron 3 ring burners as i dont think the old method will work too well as 1. it will take ages for water to boil and 2. it wont come back to the boil fast enough. So what are other people using and any other alernative suggestions?
  10. After years on intending to, i eventually went through the bait freezer and took out the heads and frames of KGW, YFW & Gar frames, old squid bits & pieces, tommmies, a few mullet including a red mullet some very old cockles and pillies .Put them all through the mincer and have ended up with a pretty sloppy mess which is sitting in the fridge awiting the final touches.am going to add some more pillies, have the aniseed oil, tuna oil, stale bread to put through the processor and add. Will probably put in a few berley nuts as well. and some curry powderWent to bunnings and got some 90mm
  11. Always buy SA Angler and wildcoast. They usually have a couple of articles that are useful. I keep them and refer back every now and then especially if going some where new and try to get all the info i can.
  12. Got one myself. Fantastic reel and absolute value for money. Matched with Shimano Jewel 682 spin. Great combo.
  13. It is the difference between catching YFW and not Metro.
  14. metal cage, i usually but another weight in it as well. the stuff i got will do the trick then as rated to 50kg. any way will try it. Thanks
  15. Gday , going through my fishing stuff getting the boat ready for when we have good weather and looks like something had a chew on my burley bucket/ cage rope. Went to bunnings to try and find something but only came up with this 3mm stuff. Think this is too thick as the other looked more like 2mm. Just curious as to what others use, Heavy fishing line? or?Cheers
  16. well we probably just need to go back to do what we all did before the internet.
