  1. I bought 2 Saltida reels bout five 5 years ago for $450.00ea when they where retailing for $1200.00 ea
  2. I have caught snaps on ridiculously light gear but the lightest outfit I like to use is a base model okuma baitrunner small one sorry cant remember models on a generic 3 / 4kg whiting rod ( rod does have bit of guts in the base), I have caught several 16 kg and a mate got 1 x 18kg on it. I do run 10kg braid on it but, reel was twisting sideways at times but no dramas handled em easyFishing deepish water light outfit helps out on the back. Not for sport. That little Okuma $100.00 reel outlasted about 5 ABU overheads. ABU'S where beefed up... special washers bla bla bla serviced regularly none o
  3. Thats awesome footage booma, perfect for flyfishing thx for sharingShame theres carp like that up there.Youll have to get to work gettn em all outta there it'd be real nice if they where big browns or rainbows.
  4. They joy of flyfishing for carp for me is sightcasting to a leviathon, watching it engulf the fly preferably on the surface as you gently strike and then have line melt off the reel. Unfortunately the carp in the torrens arent usually as visble as they are in some other waterways. Im sure the topic has been covered at length here before if you do a search on the site you will find all the answers to your questions and more.Definately worth the effort, awesome awesome fun especially when you tackle them with a 5# weight rod or less, its a great way to get into flyfishing and master or refine yo
  5. sorry boyington reading that again didnt mean to come across like a wise ass,Hope its not true, but they fine us for a cigarette butt, whilst they allow radiactive shit in our main waterway.
  6. Someone I know loaded dirt and debris marked radioactive down a funnel type apparatus onto a ship and he reckons shitloads of it ended up in the river. The guys doing the loading where in protective clothing up the wazooHe strongly recomended not eating anything out of the river. But hey if your sure thats not true thats great news. Now we can eat stuff out of the river without a care in the world
  7. Have posted this on another forum thought it was moderately important to get out there..... I've heard whispers that the soil from roxby downs and other uranium mining locations is loaded onto ships in the port river.Aparently the blokes operating the equipment are in full space suit type protective clothing. During one of many loading procedures the wind was blowing a gale and shiploads of the contaminated soil was blown into our Port River. Soon we may be catching some hulk like trumpeters, dont get them angry :-[
  8. Yeah !Lets voluntarily pay another tax we dont have to yet yeah !Lets start it right at $4.00 and maybe soon enough it can be $20.00 or $50.00That should stop the grandpas and grand kids catchin small tommies and mullet yeahThose old blokes and kids have depleted our fish stocks on Adelaide 5 short piers.Another terrific idea
  9. No expert here but as a starter how far south you going,Salmon maybe Pt Noarlunga jetty or Southport beach in front of the surf clubBream, mullies in the onk. However not sure if the bloodworms run out of the onk but if they do I dont think much will be biting this week.
  10. Went out last night got shiploadsThey started about 8.30 kept going right thru to about 11.00 when we pulled the pin, had enough. They where still runnin hot at 11.00 when we where well and trully plucked. Was telling my decky they only run for two or so hours but they just kept runnin. Even when we left we where still getting bunches of 6 and 7 s to a scoop. Last year it was like rundle mall out there last night only two other boats. With the strong westerly last night I reckon truckloads would have washed up on largs and semi beaches.Looks like a good run, anyone interested might wanna head o
  11. I wouldnt bother winter time,Summer ............. ?If you've never caught a snapper before and are desperate and you are prepared to wait for ages you may get one. Long way out for a not real reliable spot.
  12. You Blokes,Do you really think they want you around all the time. They love it when we go fishing, They just dont want us to know that.Makes em look good when they go " all right you deserve it"Their probably dancing in the hallway as we leave.

  14. Soul , pronounced ( sool )Had the mully record for a while, He was wearing the sombrero in the photo. Bruce Brown had the tackleshop across the road til Keith took it over.
  15. I take great pride and pleasure in securing my legally allowed quota for the table. Its nice to look upon your success at the end of the day. I love cleaning them and preparing them properly for the table. Its great to have friends over and feeding them the fruits of your efforts. Its great to roll up and lay some fish on friends and family. I get the same amount of pride and pleasure releasing a trophy trout and some other species to be caught again and for the purposes of sustainability. Its great to see the fish returned to its home unharmed.I just love to fish
  16. Great looking fish to christen ya reel Dazz,Trust JW (the glory hound ) to hijack ya thread with his fish
  17. Howdy guys,Coxswain ticket gives you 15nm, but you can get a coastal nav endorsement allowing you a further 15nm. 30 nm all up all on a coxswain ticket. Also I'll think you'll find any u/size fish you see in the stores are probably from interstate.
  18. In answer to your question damsel flies are dragon fly imitations. A living damsel fly has lead eyes and u may be able to cast it with spinning gear. GL
  19. Do a google earth zoom,You will see them, mark em, take your gpsShould help.
  20. Opinions change from year to year based on your knowledge so I dunno.... but at the moment,If I take someone fishn on my boat I try to show them a great day out and a great day fishn. I hope they enjoy the experience and are grateful for a great day out. If someone wants a mark usually all they have to do is ask, then you know if its on offer. If you dont ask but try later to locate it I think you know its not right.
  21. When you go on a charter what do you pay for ?Is it the days fishing?, is it the knowledge? where do you draw the line.Obviously you may see new techniques for fishing, rigs, anchoring, times, tides. boat handling etc etc etc.But what about locations ?Should your operator take you to a location close enough in that you may be able to locate it again is it within your right to locate it ?Is it within your right to ask on these forums giving approximate directions in hope someone else will put you on it ?
