  1. Well, today was the day that was. Or rather wasn't! After waking up at 6am, and preparing for a 7am start to the 21st Annual Snapper Comp, we were greeted with a stiff breeze coming from the North West. Phoned UHF for a quick discussion regarding the days plan of action. We decided to hold off for a bit and see what the weather was doing. As it turned out, the wind did not back off. In fact, it felt like it got stronger. It did swing around from the North West to South Westerly. As far as fishing at Whyalla goes, the Southerly winds, whether it is from the SW, S or SE, and if it has some stren
  2. Terrific shots RN! You always pull off awesome storm shots! Thanks for Sharing!
  3. Great work guys! Those Reddies look like they put up a reasonable fight!
  4. It's about time the Coorong legal length was changed to the 75mm legal length. Just like the rest of the state.
  5. Hey Jack, I actually read in an earlier article that the commercial netting of Australian Salmon over there is mostly so the commercial lobster and crab boats can use em as trap bait! I guess the rest goes to petfood.
  6. I agree AFF. Really it comes down to 2 words. Commercial Interests!
  7. Hey All,Got this email today regarding a commercial proposal for the taking of Mulloway in NSW. Seeing that the fisheries minister over there, Katrina Hodgkinson, has overturned a commercial net ban on Australian Salmon, this new proposal about Mulloway is certainly a very grave possibility.Have a read here:http://www.fishingworld.com.au/news/mulloway-massacre
  8. Hey Mate,I've always known ST's as Juvenile Australian Salmon. Not sure when they become just Salmon but I have been told once they hit the kilo mark.
  9. This is getting Scarier by the second. Where do these people come from? Where the hell do they get off telling us we can't enjoy our chosen lifestyle? It's about time the Nursey-Brays of the world got back to nature and left the rest of us the hell alone!

  11. Good points raised by both sides here. One of the things that I am confused about is the supposed mass of pinkies in the upper parts of the gulf. I'm not seeing evidence of that down this way. Where the pinkies and smaller ruggers were fairly prolific last season, I have not caught one at all this season. Could be a natural reason but I just don't know.
  12. It's high time that PIRSA put a stop to this yearly bloodbath. Make the Snapper fishery handline only and ban longlines. I have hit unmarked lines at the Barges off O'Sullies as well as another reasonably well known drop and been abused by a Pro working a known southern drop. We have hooked the lines up when we are fishing at night. Its high time this practice was stopped!
  13. Hey Great Topic Jack!My first born son got a 5.5lb Salmon off the beach when he was 2. Since then, he's been having a ball. But he's only gone heavier on a couple of species. An 18kilo Banjo Shark and a 6.5kilo Red. My next son, well, he's been fishing since he was a little over 1 1/2. But his best to date is also a 6.5kilo Red.My youngest son, did not like the boat much originally but since I took him out Snapper fishing last year, he's the first on the boat now. His best to date is a 5.8kilo Snapper. No wonder he's hooked! Then there's my youngest. My Daughter loves fishing almost as much as
  14. Heya Mark,Personally, I don't think you can go past a good Snyder Glas. I have an MT144 and it rocks! I have had it for 15 years and it has caught me some serious fish.
  15. One of the T-Curve overhead range in the 6-10kilo mark would be ideal IMHO.
  16. Hey All,Took a pic of the sunset when I was out fishing with BigRed last week. Thought it be good enough to share considering it was taken on a standard instamatic style digital camera! Was one hell of a sunset.
  17. Personally I see no difference between single hoop or double hoop nets. So, why is it that a person can use 10 single hoop nets but 3 double hoops is the limit. Should be 3 nets end of story. And yeah, that 'elderly gent' down at Brighton should be reported. I'm sure he isn't the only one too.
  18. That'll do anyway. Or maybe a Squob (Squid with knob)?
  19. Great Vid TT. Love the Camera Rigs they're using.
  20. Dunno where the Reds were. Probably off getting treated for Lice! That thing is definately there AFF. Looking at the time in the video itself, it's in the lower left hand corner at 21:06:50 (approx).
  21. Sadly no Ale. Only had the cam fully operational so to speak for the last couple of trips. Everytime I've been out there of late, there's a carpark and getting pretty much right on the drop is very difficult. Hopefully next trip it'll be different.
