  3. Hi all was at fishing wholesalers looking for a new rod for my alvey 7000 surf reel they seem to have a few there at a good price
  4. dont forget hallets the pros are back so there around
  5. Hi roknev i must say i was a bit amazed at the comment ,as far as i know thats one of the selling points of the alvey is how far you can cast in the surf ,or from the rocks ,the reel that aus was taking about would have to go into a collectors item you would not want to use it at that price and being so rare ,i admit that to do continuoes lure casting is not realy what they are desighned for, but i can remember taking the old silver slice down to waitpinga and casting that into the surf for a fair while
  6. well that worked wellhope this gives you some idea on how it works
  7. hi mate here are some photos of the wheel when down ,first pic wheel in locked position, second pic pin removed and shaft moved out, third pic wheel dropped into position and pin replaced ,fourth pic wheel in locked down position ready for retrieval
  8. i just get me dog in there to round em up into the basket
  9. hi mate fishing wholesalers are the alvey agent here in adelaide saw a nice rod ,genuine alvey for a good price ,for my smaller ones i use a spinner rod but with a huge first eye so when the line comes of the spool it isnt trying to get through a small guide ,they used to sell a line guide for alvey reels i dont know if you can still get them just for hooking line into after casting ,when i was a young bloke we did just that down at a reserve near my home, massive cast line jammed next thing crrrrrash ,oh ohhh run boys straight through some guys window ,back in those days we would have got a g
  10. Last year i was dropping my tyres to 20psi before launching at seacliff because there was so much soft sand there and didnt want to get bogged ,that also included the trailer just gives a wider foot for the tyre you basically float over the soft sand
  11. Well that makes me feel a lot better ,now i know there are some guys around who use these on a regular basis that does it i am getting that new surf /rock fishing rod for my 700c ,i must admit that i was a bit hesitant to bring them out and use them thinking people might say ahhhh look at this guy hes living in the stoneage but the alvey has always been known to be the king of casting and "its the alvey reel that fills the creel"crispy
  12. hi mate ,i own a pathfinder and i think the towing capacity is the same ,mine has got the electric transmision where you can select low/high/and a standby which runs when the wheels dont get enough traction ,thats a drop down spare wheel in the photo cost me 300 dollers but was money well spent it locks into position with a pin and i adapted it with a screw lock to stop vibration noise when locked away ,bit late now but ill see if i can get a pic of it folded down tommorow
  13. Hi mate looks like kingsley has got it sussed for you ,i must admit overwhelming support by the commmunity says it all ,personnaly i wouldnt have thought along there it would have been such a big deal, oh well this is what the elected officials get paid to do
  14. Hi mate ,well this is a subject that i have put a bit of thought into with my own rig ,i use an electric winch all the time either at boat ramps or beach launching ,i have not launched at adinga but have at secliff a number of times ,here is what i have,, i have a fold down spare wheel an electric winch, approx 20feet of 25mm silver rope one end with an eye splice on it the other just back spliced a electrical extension lead with ando plugs on it ,the third wheel is a god send when pulling it out of the water with the rope ,i would not get the car to close to the water either if you do make s
  15. Hi mate not sure about it but i would not see why not ,i mean it is not like a metro beach it goes for miles and realy the only people th dog might come in contact with are cocklers and surfers ,one thing to remember is that they do let horses on the beach ,so might pay to ring the council down there just to get clarification ,my dog i wouldnt let of the leash on the dog beach hed be at port norlunga before i blinked
  16. i was thinking about getting one of those crystal bassday poppers the sinking ones have heard they work okay on them see what happens
  17. Good on ya kombi thats what i like to hear ,i thought i was keeping these things for sentimental sake ,i saw one on ebay the other day and it was a buety all brass timbe spool a real collectors item ,i have use abu, diawa, sheakespear ,jarvis walker ect for outright toughness you cant beat one of these reels no gears to strip solid construction i suppose thats why they have been around for so long
  18. dont forget the sun screen either it dont feel like it but you will get sunburnt ,and dont forget to let your tyres down a bit before heading along the beach track as the last time i went there i had to help someone out of a bog right in the middle of the track as they didnt let there tyres down ,apart from pissing me of i nearly got creamed by some dick coming over the other way when helping these people out, so let your tyres down because if not i will drive straight past and get all the cockles, seriously when people dont do this it churns up the exit to the beach something cronic they just
