  1. Was chasing a can of each a little bit ago & after looking in every single metro. shop in s.a finally stumbled across a can of each down at The Anglers Choice Bait & Tackle. Had a few of each still left so should have some in stock.spotter - I am after some of the scent pens, what are they worth & what flavors do you have available? Keen to get some of the Sephia's too, pity you do not have a online shop. Do you stock the shell sheet by any chance?
  2. You used to be able to buy a range of diving squid jigs & I searched for a while trying to source some & found some in Europe but cannot purchase any. I am wondering why they are so hard to come buy as the idea of trolling over a larger area is bound to be way more productive? Good work on the jigs mate, be interested to see how they perform.
  3. Been using a Sol 3000 spooled with 20lb Rovex matched to a 10-17lb Med/Heavy Sol rod for the larger snapper plastics so far. Roughly around the $500 depending on where you purchase from. Reel should not be anymore than $300. Using that & my Saltiga 3500 Game outfit for the sp's & jigs on the reds this season if the pro's leave us some that is.shauno - Them Zero rods are killer & at a brilliant price, the oldman got one not long ago for his Bradia 2500R & the outfit feels amazing.
  4. Beautiful looking King there mate, what type/brand popper did you get her on out of interest?
  5. Weedie wrote:Paid $30.00 for both.Think you just answered your own question there. A couple of years ago I bought one of there overhead reels, never even used it. Only thing it was good for was pulling braid off my good reels when I needed to add some more mono backing.
  6. Has anyone tried the Saltiga Surf Spinning rods, not talking about the Ballistic Surf but the ones available to the u.s market? About to purchase one in the 20-40lb line weight & not sure if to go the 11ft or 12ft for big Mullys (hopefully)? Work out much cheaper than the Ballistic's & there is larger range of lengths/line weights available. Not keen on a 13ft rod & already have a Sensor Surf & a couple of Seajiggers.
  7. Here is a nice little Bronze that I caught on my Birthday late last year. Managed to catch him on a 2kg whiting rig, if it was not for the fact I was using red tube above the hook he would have bitten me off fairly well straight away. Got him in the boat & the hook let go. :woohoo:
  8. I think you could also be getting confused between the stanvac mooring & the stanvac blocks. I was under the impression the blocks where positioned further in front on the barges & the mooring (which I think is also known as the Fuel station, someone care to confirm) is located out from the holding tanks. Not sure how many moorings there are as I only have one mark but if there is another can someone kindly please PM me.
  9. Yep them marks are in WGS 84 Ale, just checked what I have on my GPS & they are the same as 3 of them. Best bet is to enter a few, get out there & have a look around with your sounder as there is only a short distance between most of them.
  10. I got one of the 4500H's off u.s Ebay a while back for a really good price compared to what they are on offer locally. Changed the T knob over to a custom style round power knob for comfort as I prefer these. For the money the reels feel great, smooth & made fairly solidly. I too read some average reports on them before purchasing & a bit of stuff that was said about them was no true. Keeping in mind some people think your going to get a Saltiga for under $300, best bet is too go in your local & check them out/have a feel & see what you think before coming to a conclusion. Hang
  11. Was going to send this one to Shane to chuck in the mag. anyway & considering me subscription ran out last issue I may as well have a crack. Caught this red locally last week off NH on me whiting rig. Far from the biggest I have caught but on a Shimano Sienna 2500 spooled with 3kg line on a 2-4kg whiting stick & shallow water was the best fighting red to date. Ended up going a touch over 6.5kg, did not measure it but she was a fatty.

    Wire traces

What size hooks on the twin rig fisherman01? I searched around in 4 shops without any luck so gave up as all I could find was singled rigged 10/0's or 12's. Might have to head to Stepney to check them out if they are the size Iam chasing.dutchxfisher - If your just chasing purely Mullys then I would stay clear from using a wire trace all together, even the coated stuff. Hard enough to entice on mono. as it is.
  13. Picked up a copy yesterday, looks like another good read coming up.

    Wire traces

My small piece of advice is steer clear of the cheaper pre-made traces. Bought a couple to try out & the quality of the crimps where very poor. Wire pulled through crimps with hand pressure so had to re-crimp them all. From now on I just buy whatever size game hooks I need & crimp my own sized/length wire of choice. Shogun hooks & swivels with quality crimps for me.

  16. Not sure we missed the big one the other day did not get it too the surface but was taking some really good runs, oldman decided to crank up the drag & pulled the hooks (+ not setting them properly in the first place didnt help)!
  17. Yep have to totally agree with the above comments! Its the only way these type of people will learn, hit em' hard.
  18. carps wrote: Nah mate, didnt bother as the ones we landed where nothing special in size. The ray I battled for a good 25 minutes & gave up as I could not get it to the surface so cut him off, damn thing.
  19. Ive been using a coke bottle with about 4 small holes punched in it & a string tied through the lid. Fill it with a decent tuna oil & place behind boat. Oil drips at a nice rate & creates a good slick. Also have a burley block in the pot mounted on the back of the boat to bring around Gar, Tommies & Macks which in turn attracts larger species. Went out last week got one & missed 2 (one big boy), went out yesterday & got 2 missed 1 & hooked the mother of all rays.
  20. I agree & hear what you are saying mate but the bloke I bought them off has only just started selling them recently. No heat shrink has been used & I too stay away from these type, ones I got are glued. Will post up how I go when I test out some 60lb ones tomorrow.
  21. Went past my local today looking for it, pity you didnt post earlier WB. Looks like I will be waiting for a new read next weekend then.
  22. Just bought a few 4m wind on's off Ebay for a really good price in 60lb & 80lb. Was starting to get a bit sick of paying $10+ each for them & after loosing a few to whites thought would give them a go. 5 for $25, will see what they are like but the quality looks o.k, made from jinkai & cortland dacron.
  23. Maybe try using the Berkley SP Cockles, Iam sure the fishing shows would tell you they work better than the real thing! Also see that you can get SP Gents now.
  24. It really needs to be done though, was down there the 2nd day after the opening & comparing it too last year we where shocked. Hardly any legals left at all & after 5 hours could not even manage 300. In previous years there used to be heaps of big ones around & was very easy to get your bag limit. Now its all just small ones with the very odd legal mixed in, a sad site.
