  3. 30 years ago (aged 3) fishing with my grandpa and dad I reckon my first fish was either a tommy or a Trumpeter- also family holidays to Tumby Bay, one year whilst there went on my first charter bagged out on KG's and hooked my mum in the butt. :silly::woohoo:
  4. tony, no worries mate and Rangfish, i doubt it works properly but i reckon it would be interesting to see if tony could get rid of the broken part, cut some perspex to shape, maybe paint it up a bit and see if he could salvage it- another idea would be to make a mini version with only one set of trebles on it.- there ya go Tony, the challenge has been laid down for you mate. :cheer: :woohoo:
  5. hahaha- yeah mate, after losing alot of lures/money over a 2 year period i had to invest in one, and im glad i did, i reckon that since getting it i probably would of saved around $200 worth of lures. :cheer:
  6. Agree with above remarks- have used mine quite a bit and got snagged up a number of times, ive never snapped one but have always pulled in a straight line- put simply the best investment i ever made was a small lure retreiver with the 3 chains hanging off of it and a roll of thin cord from a $2 shop, All up it was under $20- so 1 lure saved and its paid for itself. :cheer:
  7. Fireline, Rovex and Suffix braid for me (well its what ive got on a few of my reels anyway)and ive never had a problem with any of them, as for leader... Vanish:)
  8. Just a heads up guys- just picked up 5 blades for $6 a pop from Rays Outdoors (i got their catalogue in the mail last night)- they are TI-SING Brand they have them in 5 colours and 4 sizes which are, 1/8oz 2.8cm, 1/4oz 3.8cm, 3/8oz 4.5cm, and the largest size which i didnt get and cant remember its size- i will give them a test out at LBB's this weekend, i hope they are ok, i reckon they look a little like a Stiffy blade.
  9. hopefully breaking in my Seajigger 305 and Sol 4000 soon aswell.
  10. Ive got some Softy, will show ya. - holes are in the scoop
  11. Yeah i saw this advertised somewhere a few days ago- other side of town from me but i reckon i will go have a look if i can get there.
  12. Nah mate, im a crows supporter but tipped the cats- its about time we won against a decent team
  13. Cheers Archerfish- I didnt even know they had an Aussie website.
  14. carps wrote: i got mine from Rays Outdoors on west terrace (they get them in occasionally) but Columbia also have a store in Rundle Street in the city- just type Columbia into google, its an american company, so may not have everything on the website here in oz. They also do a fantastic fly fishing vest which i just had to get.
  15. put simply... i got sick and tired of the cold and going through many a jacket that never kept me warm- so i went out and got a Columbia jacket (not cheap), a set of thermals and some gloves from Kathmandu and i have not been cold at all since.
  16. afishyfish wrote: I had exactly the same problem mate- and it takes longer to get ready for a trip with everything everywhere- so we got 3 big cupboards from Ikea, put them together, made a few modifications and now its all sorted (20% staff discount on top of a sale was great aswell :woohoo: )
  17. SWEET!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: - right near my place.
  18. i flick it over with my finger, ive never liked the sound it makes when i do it turning the handle even if it doesnt do any damage- then again only about half or less of my reels i can turn the handle and the bail arm clicks over, they normally just stop dead and i have to click it over with my finger anyway. im interested to know if it really does any damage aswell now??
  19. always amazes me how well kids go on squid- i was squidding on Edithburgh jetty once, didnt pull a single one in, sat down to eat some lunch and two young fellas showed up, stood 5m either side of me and started pulling them in one after another (one kid even had the same jag and colour i did)- so i thought bugger it and put my lunch down, i still didnt catch any and they kept on coming for the kids anyway... well done mate, it looked like a great session.
  20. dont think it looks like an Alvey but it sure looks like some tasty bait!!!
