  1. Alright, looks like I have my next project.Got a couple in the works at the moment, and this is in my spare time, so once they are tied up I'll get cracking on this. The other ones make me money (I love my cheques from Google), so they are higher priority, this one would be a love job :)Features I can do now:Journal inc photo log, baits used, comments, auto-fill GPS location, weather etcCurrent weather observations (thanks BOM)Moon phase (calculated)Current regs, size/bag limits etc. Features I need to get more info on:Weather/wind predictions (could simply *borrow* from another site etc..)Tide
  2. Not really as interesting but I was handlining squid around seacliff casually retrieving the jag when TWANG 100lb line ripped right out of my hands so hard it cut me. All the retrieved line whipped out of the boat then slackness. Wish I knew what it was, probably just a big snook but who knows coulda been a kingy
  3. yup its like mac and pc. can't install windows software on a mac.but a lot of iphone apps are re-written for android and vice-versa.
  4. what are the apps that you are using currently using DR_JOSH?the hardest part with something like this is sourcing the up to date local data. even BOM doesn't want to freely give out a tide chart.
  5. If Kelvin says it aint worth it, I'd take his word for it :)Sounds like you've given it a crack in the past?
  6. So new it hasn't been created yet :DAs a hobby I write apps for android phones, and basically I'm throwing this out there to pick you guys brains on what you would like in an app or if you think they are a waste of time etc.Do many of you have android phones?Do you use any fishing apps now?Do you find them useful? Is there something that you would like to see in an app that you just can't find? There are tons of fishing related apps out there, fishing journals, knot guides, fishing guides, solunar charts, tide times, weather apps etc. Some combine alot of the above very well into one app where y
  7. converting position format can also be done straight on the gps. just switch to the format of the point you have, enter it, then switch back to the format you usually use.
  8. in case you don't have the manualhttp://www.retrevo.com/support/Humminbird-363-GPS-manual/id/540ci473/t/2/
  9. As brenton said. Change the Gps datum to agd66 or aus66 enter the mark and then change the datum back to wgs84.What Gps do you have?
  10. Well hows this for coincidence, there's a write up in todays paper about The Barn.
  11. darker water can indicate a gutter. and not many waves crashing in that area. the waves crash in shallower water and wash or roll over the gutters. they can crash, roll over the gutter and crash again.just watch the water for a while, you start noticing things.you can also walk the beach at low tide to see areas that will fill up on high tide, although they can move around.
  12. nah not the big boy, its about quality not quantity.I'd rather fully enjoy a smaller steak than be totally stuffed struggling through a monster just wanting to get to the end of it.The filet mignon was pretty awesome (what isn't better with bacon?) as well as the hereford porterhouse.Definitely have to plan a trip down that way again.
  13. Well hung and medium rare :)If you are ever in Mt Gambier, I strongly suggest a meal at The Barn Steakhouse.Aged for 60 days minimum, cooked just right. Best. Steak. Ever.http://www.barn.com.au/steakhouse.html

did you head out around waroona island to pt germein? didn't think there were any beaches near pirie, only endless mangroves and sollies isn't really a 'beach'.glad to see you doing something productive with your time rather than chucking endless mainies (they're not the same these days anyway)

he's referring to those chinese Y-ting fish i reckon.
  16. this 'watering down' of marine parks plan was most certainly part of the plan the whole time ;)I can't think of an easy way to explain so consider the following:think of it like this, you are 15 and I want you to go to bed at 9pm. So I tell you you must go to bed at 7pm (obviously totally unreasonable, like banning 90% of the coastline). you whine and complain saying its not fair and that all your friends stay up until 10pm (most other states have no such no take zones etc) to watch their favourite shows... so I 'compromise' and say 10pm is too late (you have to have SOME no take zones), but I
  17. Reckon they were busy catching a few weed fish before making this vid.Pretty funny stuff though, novel way of defrosting pilchards too.
  18. I remember there being a post similar to this about a year or so ago, it was a Patrol or Land Cruiser, but they managed to get stuck about half way across the mouth. Then the council tractor that came to get them out also got stuck.God only knows what they were thinking trying to get across there, it gets fairly deep and current rips through there, even at the bottom of the tide theres no way you'd be getting across.I live at Moana and it's not uncommon to find half submerged cars on the beach on a Sunday morning, but they're usually stolen cars, trying to cross the mouth is just plain dumb
  19. when I was there the other day there is a freshly painted "no crab nets allowed" at the start of the jetty (on the ground).
  20. Heading up to Morgan. four wheel drivin, motor bike ridin, and a lot of drinkin
  21. Would be a great spot to get a yak into, but it'd be bloody hard work.
  22. nice size gar there nev, dabbing can be some good fun.mate of mine has recently moved to whyalla, thinking of going up for a visit, might have to organise going for a fish with ya while i'm up there
  23. most harrowing experience would be me and a mate fishing in my little tinny off hallett cove, having a blast not really paying much attention to the slowly building wind and chop. finally noticing all the other boats had gone and the wind getting a bit much so start heading back through medium waves.wind picked up some more and before you know it we're battling 2m+ waves head on for 5km back to the ramp. anyone that goes out from o'sullies will know how bad the waves can get as you go around the stanvac jetty. got airborne a couple of times trying to go a little too fast and it was a real stru
  24. nope, the worst they can do is see what type of phone you have and when you took the pic
