    THE FUNK!

I think we've all been there :)For me it was a bucket of crab remains.... smelled like putrid death. But I decided to hang the bucket off my car aeriel and drive it down to the boat ramp bins, all the while getting that lovely smell wafting into the car. Must have burned into my nostrils coz I swear I was smelling it for ages after.
  2. Here's an online calculator to make it easy.Does Degrees Minutes Seconds, Decimal Degrees & Decimal Minutes conversions.http://www.csgnetwork.com/gpscoordconv.htmlOf course you can also change the settings on your GPS to take any of these formats, then change back to your 'normal' format and it will convert them for you.Same with different Datums, if you get marks in AGD66, change your GPS to AGD66 datum, enter the AGD66 marks, then change back to WGS84.This has been covered numerous times in the past.
  3. Start with where you are located. The general direction you should be heading is out to sea... :)Anywhere metro, just head out to the weed line, throw some squid jigs around... bingo.Berley over the weed patches might attract some gar and tommies.Bottom baits in the sand patches amongst the weed, you're in for some whiting possibly.Troll some lures over the weed/broken bottom for snook....There's lots of possibilities.

    Yabbies

never found any yabbies down that way, only turtles...reckon further up would be better, but possibly even further than murray bridge. I did however spy some yabbie nets around murray bridge when I was up there on Sunday.Chief & Weaver etc should be able to give you the good word
  7. Nice one ale, spewin I wasn't out there, would have been killer weather wise... Many other boats around?Hopefully they stick around for a few more weeks so I can finally get down there.
  8. Went to the barges tonight, didn't catch didley. Not a great deal happening out there.Met Troy from fisheries when we got back to the ramp.

  11. I'm not sure how the other sites do it, but I would only be trusting those from BOM.What they do is take a sample of actual tide heights and times over a period of time (at least a year) from their tide height gauges around the place, run quality control on the data, then run the resulting "tidal frequency file" for each location through their modelling software to give predictions on future tides for each location. The other sites most probably use their own data, or old data, or their modelling software is different etc. or they've hired a monkey to manually type out the tide charts and he ra

  13. my bet is the levelwind wormgear is full of crud or corosion making it hard to wind. or maybe a piece of line stuck in there? :Pflip the reel over and you will see the wormgear moving as you wind, spray a bit of wd40 in there and see if it frees it up a bit then lube it with some Firepower FP-10.or yeah just take it to I think its Bob? at Let's Go Fishing that does a stellar job on the ABUs :)I'd definitely be trying to revive the ABU.
  14. if it aint on this list, there aint no size or bag limit.http://www.pir.sa.gov.au/fisheries/recreational_fishing/catch_limits_and_legal_lengths
  15. Reports say they are pretty thick, just dig with your hands in the wash, its like digging up pebbles..no need for a pump, rake net etc.. just your hands and a bucket to put them in. Fill a bucket with water and they will still be alive when you get home.Look for other people catching cockles. Go there, talk to them, try different things, you'll get it its easy.
  16. I'd say many people don't hold them highly because most have not tried them.I think a bit of the 'ick' factor comes into it, nasty skin, spike, sharp teeth and its not a traditional SA table fish because we have so many other 'better' species.however leatheries are easy to clean and cook up a treat.
  17. Brenton's post reminds me of Wilson from Home Improvement lol
  18. http://www.soundsnap.com/audio/play/134285quick search turned this up.drop it onto your phone's sd card under a folder called "alarms" you might have to create it, then it will appear in the list of alarm sounds
  19. I was thinking about that and I'm not really sure how to go about it because a pressure reading by itself doesn't really tell you much. Whether it is a high or a low depends on the pressures around it.could just somehow include this type info or just link to the synoptic chart. EDIT:nope, nope, I was wrong. anything above 1013.5hPa is High, and below that is a Low. That will make things easier.
  20. Just to keep me motivated more than anything, thought I'd let you guys know I have finally started doing something with this... talk about slack! :)Some of the ideas here are great, but probably a bit ambitious for little old me.SO... I'm going to take baby steps.First thing I'm going to implement is getting weather info, because for me this is most important. I was intially concerned with getting tide information, but that's sorted now What I'm thinking of doing is creating a composite of a few pages from BOM, current weather forecast, marine forecast, tides, and latest observations (ie wind

  22. porties is off limits due to the aquatic reserve, i have heard stories of the old timers worming there pre 1970s doing pretty well.if they were and maybe are at porties, then its not too much of a stretch for them to be at christies/osullies too.
  23. reckon moana and aldinga-sellicks would be worth a crack on outgoing tide near the low.can't say i've ever seen anyone doing there though?
