  1. That happens to me with everything I buy! Worst thing I've done is bought a printer for $360 and two weeks later they were selling them for $89....
  2. HeyI'm thinking of setting up a worm farm or two at home in the hope of breeding myself some freshwater/marine bait. Can anyone suggest what worms would be best to use for any kind of bait? I understand that is very broad but I never use them for anything so I'm not sure of what to use. I suppose I could be using them on carp and callop for a start but I'm not sure on marine species that may also consume them. Was thinking of tiger worms and i've heard talk of scrub worms too...Any suggestions? Cheers Tom
  3. Cheers for the thought but i'm holding off until my birthday so I can get the TLD. I'd rather spend a bit more and be happy the first tie round, too many times i've made a purchase and regretted it the next day...
  4. Those are some great shots there
  5. That looks awesome, have to be proud of work as good as that. I'd love to give that a go one day
  6. I would kill to get a stomper like that. Pity you don't have a better quality photo to remember it by but i think the memory of that would stay in your mind forever. One day....
  7. I'm not a fan of fish so by all means don't just go off my opinion When I have eaten them I've found them to be a bit oily, I suppose they are similar in flavour to salmon. Bit too fishy for my likings Great fun to catch on light gear though...
  8. Haha now there is a picture Looks awesome!!! Have you cooked him up yet? Should get a few feeds out of one that size
  9. Sounds like you had an awesome time, how big was he in the end? Did you happen to get a photo? I can see that you have posted a blank so i'm assuming there is a photo :)Regardless well done on the catch, I've never caught a shark before... But i'm keen as :woohoo:
  10. I really appreciate all south australian fishing magazines. It awesome to pick up a magazine and see places i've fished or that I could easily travel to for a fishing trip. I used to buy other fishing magazines but they are FULL of interstate fishing spots/advertisements and most of all fish we don't see.I used to like southern fisheries when it was published as I'm interested in marine biology/aquaculture and it was quite a good read and contained some local fishing stuff too. I now buy SA angler and WILDCOAST religiously, I was stoked to find wild coast when it first came out as I hadn't hea
  11. @ bream_basher, not calling you a liar or anything. Your picture it the biggest squid i've ever seen but the tube is easily less than half of the full length in that picture and if it was 105cm full stretch that means the tube would definitely be less than 50cm. Unless got you the full stretch wrong and you meant to say it was longer.Regardless of this that is a bloody impressive cephalopod! In future if you don't want people questioning your catch i'd just chuck it on a brag mat or put something in the photo that people can put to scale. I always use a brag mat so no one can ever question me
  12. Thats a monster looking squid but how big was the tube/mantle?
  13. I refuse to conform with the name change!!! Tommies are Tommies and i'll continue call them that regardless The name will only change if we fold! But together we can hold the name true!
  14. That sounds awesome, just need to get some squids! I have a heap in the freezer at the moment but they are all cut up into rings for quick cooking Hopefully the weather will clear up a bit and I can get squiding again, the water has been too rough to squid at my favourite spot recently. I'm so keen to try this out!
  15. Haha SandyWhiting, what you have written is worded funnily. Read it again as if you were yoda. Haha read you must and learn you will.
  16. Definitely different fish Softy but same family. Arripis trutta (Eastern Australian Salmon), Arripis truttaceus (Western Australian Salmon) and Arripis Georgianus (Australian Herring/Tommy Ruff) all belong to the Arripidae family. For the life of me I can't understand why juvenile salmon are called salmon trout though, they are just young western/eastern australian salmon.
  17. I've never been game to try that, I know I'll stuff it up.
  18. Me too, but its just the reason I need to get of my butt to do it
  19. Not that I own a boat yet but i've been putting this off for a while. Looks as if i'm jumping on board and getting it next week, I've convinced the missus who is not a fisher or at all interested in boating to get hers too
  20. Because she insists I don't include her in my hobbies Nothing funnier than fishing with someone who freaks out when a fish is brought aboard and is disgusted my the idea of a cockle Never a dull moment...
  21. Yeah I was quite surprised that she agreed but it will be funny to see her out on the water got to get her fishing first. She has agreed as long as she doesn't have to touch the bait or the fish hahahahaI've agreed to take her squiding, so I think a squid "may accidentally" get pointed near her whilst inking. Although I am impressed I have convinced her to clean a squid from scratch before...
  22. I thought you could only use fish type bits for fishing... Or is that just a berley thing? If it isn't that seems to be very contradictory to the rule and would mean I could put a steak on a hook, although I can only just afford to eat the odd steak at the moment so wouldn't waste it anyway ;D ;DBut if someone could clear this up that would be cool as mince is very cheap and bait is expensive when you don't have money.
  23. Thats not a bad idea cooking that up. But i never get big fish worth doing it to, so until then i'll wait patiently
