They are super cool mate!! You sure know how to put the "craft" into angling!! All the time having your "den" to do it in!!
  2. many of us have been saying that there is chance of tuna hysteria taking somones life this season, lets hope these guys are found and prove me wrong:http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/south-australia/search-for-two-missing-fishermen-off-cape-jervis/story-fni6uo1m-1226828988185I was on the local foreshore yesty arvo with the kids, no chance i wouldve gone out in a 15ftr locally let alone off CJ
  3. Still getting the little bronzies whilst wading the flats Des?How common are they? Sounds like fun site casting at them on light tackle
  4. On the band wagon, but the Diawa generation Blacks look mint. Not the type of rod for brutes like me , but they look , feel and priced great!!Those white rods with the funny names look ok to, come in pink, green and blue grips ( weight dependant)?
  5. Mate, as you can probs tell from your replies, there isn’t right and wrong answers. You will also notice, you very rarely read of the donuts on these forums, but ALMOST always hear when people get their limit.Take it all in, and just keep trying is all I can say. The seminar like Moggy mentioned would be a great start, but again, just soak it all in and try it all out.One thing is for sure, getting to the ramp so late will put you behind the 8 ball from the start.Maybe get confident with your boat in low light conditions in the gulf first, but it’s no secret most fish will feed better as t
  6. Mate, Im not sure whats happening with the PM's?I dont get many and the times I have, the new sytem ( top right of the page) has worked for me.Il see if I can get in touch with Bjorn and see whats happening, I know its an area of the site which has kept him very busy of late.hopefully no one miss's out cos of it, and maybe for safety sake all intrested parties for this outting post their emails in this thread so as to make sure contact isnt loss.
  7. Mate, is the Haines a runabout or does it have a cab of sorts?I redid my canopy/clears last year and also have a rocket launcher on my runabout. If you send me your email I send ya some pix of my set up. Trust me when I say I’m “thrifty”, I can give you details of the guys that did my work, its good and well priced, but on the south side of the CBD.I’ve been in a very nice boat let down by some clears done by Days road, the owner curses them every time he goes out in rough weather.Having said that, clears have a life span , I reckon my mates my be well past there date
  8. All good to name the operator mate, I'd be wanting to know who it is.Haven't heard a bad word about Herbie, but theWeather may be an issue fishing offshore this weekend.
  9. Nice work mate!!!what kinda gear did you get it on? :cheer:
  10. Nice Swifty!!!And congrats on the horse!
  11. Meh, I got sent pix today, friend of a friend got a 9ftr last week and a 10ftr yesty. Both in that area, just big docile bronzeesMedia clutching at straws to justify their worthless jobs
  12. I Fished out of Marion bay last year, 6-8oz sinkers, anything between 35-80m deep, depending on the day and area fished may have a strong current as well.10-15kg rod with a suitable reel is the go. Maybe take a 8kg outfit if you find the whiting in close. These days , for bottom bashing, I prefer a spinning reel, but partly cos I don’t have an overhead with a suitable ratio.6/0 minimum hooks, else you will spend all your time un hooking rubbish fish that get to the bait before something worth keeping does. Its lucky dip bottom bashing, could be a 40cm snapper that takes your bait, or a 55cm w
  13. Both stores promptly rang me back, good service on their behalf, Shimano rep told them both they have no more Jewel stock and obviously not making any more. Un fortune circumstances or not, in this case I don’t think as a consumer I’ve done anything wrong, but have no choice to take it on the chin. It’s funny, little things like this make or break brand loyalty.
  14. T hull= Credit card and payapl.I cant be arsed getting the wife to investigate either, probs do more harm than good when I get her to start trolling bank records regarding my spendings.Ive rung 2 of the big tackle stores in Adelaide, one a big franchise, the other a south australian icon ( Not R&A ).both said the same thing, shimano will want half the price of the rod for a new section, regardless if its the bottom half with the reel seat etc or the top half with a handfull of eyes Pretty crap on the behalf of shimano IMHO, and I've asked both stores to come back to me with an exact pri
  15. I wont lie and tell anybody the rods are under warrenty of any type.I got the 1-4 from SFS just over 2 years ago and the 5-8 from Mo tackle cos no one had it locally.I dont have reciepts for either anymore.I would just like to at least get one working again. Both broke right on the edge of a binding, both times simply a light cast away from the boat.poppa was with me, he couldnt belive it either.Ive always transported them in the car with me, only time they where in rocket launchers was between spots, never with sinkers attached.
  16. Guys, same may have read that 2 of my rods snapped when simply casting with light weights when I last went fishing.Uncanny in itself before aadding the fact they where both Shimano Jewels. The 1-4 was a one piece, but the 6-8 was a 2 piece. Thus I'd appreciate the reps number to see about getting a new top piece organized for the 6-8 at the very least.Probs best to email me the number if u can help, just to avoid the fickle nature of the local pm function atm.Alternatively, I'd welcome an tackle shops willing to help me.Thanx
  17. welcome back mate, hope your feeling better^^^
  18. Congrats Alex, the vote was quite even amongst few of the reports due to the high quality of entrants , but you got over the line, Kudos. Now be sure to wear the StrikeHook T shirt during the filming of your next video!!!

    Robert Kelly

He was a great laugh when ever I went there whilst he was at the reigns of that shop. Always keen for a chin wag and his service was more than except able. His burley blocks caught me quite a few snapper over the last couple years RIP mate
  20. I only burley up whilst fishing, scaling bag, with a paver or 2 and a frozen block. Then whilst the tide is slack, I throw handfuls of chopped chunks over. I have one off those plastic trap door bombs aswell, but rarely bother with it.I have heard of one guy who "feeds" his fish. Reckons he takes a hessian bag full or barley and other mixed grains, bessa block in it and then throws it over. the hessian bag slowly decays or gets ripped apart by the feeding fish he reckons
  21. Might go down to the wire trace Dan, as u said a handful of great reports and the vote is tied atm. Maybe a couple other mods will log on soon and sway it one way or another.
  22. I reckon that little pebble wall in the "S" of the channel before it opens to the main channel would have some good fish. Its pretty deep there and the wall goes all the way to the water edges
  23. DOGS!!!! The only forum friendly word to describe those types!!!!
  24. Yep, wouldve ben a great fight on the right tackle!! Way above my PB
