  1. got 2x 2-4kg raiders too.. 1x 1pc 1x 2 pc. love them!! replaced my pflueger Trion with the Raiders.. though a 1-3 trion would be pretty sweet choice too..
  2. cheap ones on the counter of most fishing tackle stores.. $2 each or something.. red and blue popper head with a 300 straight shank and some feathers.. i do have some other more traditional poppers for surface casting.. but yet to hit them in those due to their casting weights. id love to get a big school in close and hit them with some big surface poppers!
  3. if im catching big fish i only use a rig with one hook and one bait. at other times ill use a surf popper up top as well
  4. standard paternoster rig for me.. hook size dependant on the fish.. and if big fish are expected.. bigger hooks.. i down it to one bait only..
  5. just the usuals for me.. Halco slices/twisters in gold/silver some with holes some with lips invarious sizes from 30-60gram, Gillies, Raiders, Lasers and pretty much anything cheap due to the loss rate of salmon slugs. all lures are usually 30-60 gram in a variety of colours from silvers golds to blues and greens. in reality.. a salmon will take anything that moves if its schooling.. ive seen them hooked on snap swivels!
  6. personally... id buy a new aged 10" rod for your usage.. is the 12" set for alvey or for spin reel? if alvey.. keen to sell ;P

    Qantas Baggage

yeah, was just stung bringing my 8" malibu.. only weighs 6kg or so.. and combined with my luggage i am still under weight. but i have extra stuff over here on the coast with me.. that i think might find itself stuffed into my surf board bag to get it across to adelaide next week.
  8. ill be over there from saturday till the 28th.. not as much fishing as id have hoped.. but gotta intersperse it with some surfing as well will let ya know how i go.. will try the venus jetty as well.. a place i havnt fished.. and might even get a night down at talia.. if the misses lets me.. will def fish talia/camel day time at least once though!
  9. always thought mangroves provided great bird and fish/crab life sanctuary and would of been a valued part of any wet lands..
  10. picked up an extra 50 bags 20x30cm for 13.25 averaging out at 26c a bag from ebay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390305406426&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:ITlooked into rolls of bags online as well. def the best place to buy them!
  11. i just laughed out loud!!!! hrmmm i guess those half packets of Gulps can be resealed now too.. cant wait for my next fishing trip as that was the main intention of buying this machine.. to save all my lost fillets!
  12. yep, already looking at what i can vap seal and save... the 1kg blocks of cheese are just too big... *cuts in half and vac seals again* hmmmmm what next...
  13. they recommend with the more moist items to pre freeze them in normal bags.. then shrink freeze in the machines after they are frozen! woudlnt have the same space saving properties.. but the other options to pay them dry/drain them a while and try again..
  14. my maxkon 100$ machine is working a treat
  15. ive always ran the larger reels with bait set ups.. tho today i ran the sane 8' rod with a shimano sienna 4500 reel... i too felt like i was winding for ever.. so i can see your problem.. though when swapping to Disturbed1s sol4000 and seajigger 10' it wa soooo smoooth and nice to fish with.. shame i didnt get a chance to hook up a fish with it!
  16. to be honest a 3000 reel is not the best to be surf fishing with..maybe a 4500 to a 5000??? traditionally ive only used 6000-8000 reels in the surf when not using my alveys (650-651C's) . but when i drop down a few classes.. my sol3000 gets a solid work out on a 8' rod for chucking slugs about. and have had some very good results using this reel.
  17. was bout to say.. love my sol3000 have smashed the salmon up to 14lb in WA on this reel.. with out any problems casting 40-60gram metals into the surf. how much you have to spend.. do you go up a size to the s0l4000 that Distubed1 loves.. he was matching it with a seajigger 10ft rod today...
  18. thought mangroves were protected???
  19. mullies off both those beaches.. my home bsse for work is the property between those two beaches... the boss owns the land from the camel to the talia turn off. yalia has a better rep for big mullies than camel does thouh... good sized salmon from both beaches. and if your camping close by... coodlie park coem say hi.. chances are.. i may be down there.. or at least the boss will be..
  20. now.. if only we could catch fresh mulloway great recipe!
  21. mick, get up into some fresh water.. adn throw it into some red fin areas... you should do alright!
  22. mine just arrived.. and i have a heap of sanga meats left over from my last tour.. 4-5 100-250gram packs.. so.. thats gonna be my first job now.. reseal these into long life bags and use them on my next trip up north!cant wait to put it to more use.. im about to delegate a heap of snapper and YFW fillets to the bait bucket due to being away so much this last 6 months ive not eaten them.. hopefully this machine will now fix that problem!!!
  23. yeah i have plans to come to the agm. spose to be meeting the Ops Manager for a few beers.. but will have to try and negotiate tomorrow nights timing.. may only come in for a short while.
