  1. Never hooked one up myself, but have watched Gar follow all sorts of lures, so you'd think if they are competing hard enough for a feed it would happen, like Boyo said. One of the fishing shows had a segment where they were chasing Tommies off the beach with a cut down straw on a long shank hook and they got a few big Gar with this set up, so.....Fishie, I think, suggested cutting off Flick Bait tails and using them if you run out of bait, but thats a slightly different method of SP fishing! :silly:
  2. Finally got round to making a better and safer place to store the fishing rods. Works for me!
  3. My SP set up is 6lb leader to 6lb braid on a Shimano Sedona 1500 match to a 2-4kg Dynamix Bream rod or a 2-4kg Venom Death Adder.
  4. Nice work mate. Fantastic fish and PB. Love that first photo, can imagine your excitement when you saw what was waiting for you, did well to stop and take a photo!
  5. First time I've seen this off the bom site. Clicked on the North Haven area and came up with the usual weather info, then clicked on the 'detail' box and you get temps, wind direction, wind speed and combined swell info for 8 different times during each day! Very helpful http://www.bom.gov.au/australia/meteye/?loc=SA_MW011So going on Saturdays details the Tinny might get wet in the morning and back in by before 10.30am.
  6. Nice work 4THA and crew. Looking forward to a few more "Strike and Hook Sensation" clips!
  7. Good onya Chuck. All the best to Snapperhead for a speedy recovery! Always enjoy reading both of your fishing reports.
  8. Waspy I know nothing, but if you make sure that you expose all of the pointy bit of your hook, 1/0-8/0 you'll be in the game. :f Good luck.
  9. Arh nooo,I'm beached bro,I'm beached as!
  10. Your voucher will get you a Shimano Sienna 4000FD, a decent reel at under $50! :woohoo:
  11. I tend to agree with that' date=' any fish is a good fish! Preferred fishing method is land based with soft plastics. Favourite target is probably Bream, but always good to mix it up.A few photos of land based soft plastic caught fish, all local metro except the Snook. 12. Messed up wierdos mate! You can't understand how anyone can do shit like this because fortunately most of us don't think like these morons! Makes me  :vomit: , and you're right it gives all fisherpeople a bad name!
  13. Well done Alex, luv the video and your enthusiasm for fishing :woohoo: If you are going to eat the Mullet and STs, IMHO, it's better to dispatch and bleed them ASAP after capture. If you can fit a couple of ice blocks in your bucket that will help too! Look forward to the next edition of Alexsfishin.
  14. That's good advice. Bream will often take your SP when it is not moving. Flick your SP out' date=' preferably in an area that's holding fish!, and let it flutter to the bottom, keep an eye on the line, any little odd movements in the line on the drop could indicate a bite, so strike. When it hits the bottom, indicated by your line slackening, leave it there for 5 or so seconds, then lift the SP off the bottom with whichever method you prefer (little hop, big long lift, double twitch lift etc...) then bring the rod tip back down, reel in the slack line and watch the line as the SP flutters back
  15. This is a pic of my PB' date=' taken on a Zman GrubZ, 41cms of old Port River Bream. [img']http://imageshack.us/a/img809/7782/028zb.jpg[/img]Struggling to upgrade this PB!
  16. Female Bluethroat Wrasse. Usually lots of these in the group to one larger male.Male Bluethroat Wrasse. If you take this one out of the group one of the females becomes the resident male. That's my understanding of these fishies anyway.
