  1. There was also a 70+cm Snapper washed up between Seacliff and Brighton
  2. Im off to Ki for 7 days staying at Vivone Bay
  3. Ive had a SWB MQ Patrol and am currently in a Pajero and although the patrol was good Id have to say the Pajero is a lot better in the sand. Last time I went to Salts I was with a mate in his Landcruiser and my little Paj ran rings around him.
  4. Ive got the same reel matched to a Willson Mulloway rod, Havent landed anythig yet on it but did have a big run and good fight on the Far West Coast (possably big toothy) and it worked like clockwork, even after spending a week on the beach with little maintinance and getting sand blasted one night. Only fault I have found was during the fight I somehow mannaged to hit the reel lock (casting lever) turning the reel sideways and dropped a loop of line around the handels resulting in a big bust off, but appart from that Im happy with it.
  5. I would go with Johns Marine Transport I used to work for him and his gear is good and will do a good price phone number 0882424000 and speak with Robert Johns he owns the show. I know that they are up there weekly.
  6. As far as more sightings are concerned there are actually LESS sightings this year than at the same time last year. Up until yesterday I have been notified of 7 (from the shark plane and this has only been in the air for a week and a half), and from November until last weekend only 8 frm the SLSA helicopter on the weekends, and they were actually between 150m to around 500m out and most of them have been away from the jetty. BTW today there have been no sightings.
  7. Dont brand all Surf Life savers with the same brush because of ONE club president who dosent know shit from clay. I can tell you that as a Surf Lifesvaer it is not my view and also not the view of many of the other lifesavers that I deal with. If you want to bag someone then write letters to the president of the mentioned surf club to set him straight. He gets on the band wagon every year at this time because there are a few sharks spotted at his beach, if you remember last year he sprouted on about crabbing from the jetty when the sharks showed up, hell thers 6 beaches along the coast that ha
  8. People just for your information 99.9% of the shark sightings along the metro coast are Bronze Whalers. As a person that gets contacted every time a "shark" is spotted along the coast I am aware of only one white last summer that was closer than 1km from shore. I love the water and surf, dive, spearfish, sail, fish and boat all along our coast line and accept the risk that I am taking every time I enter the water. How would I feel if it were a family member probably angry and upset but would not blame the governmet for not doing any thing. I understand that human nature is such that we need to
  9. RangerHe makes me look like small. I think that he wants extra line on the spool and increase the line size incase he gets onto a good fish, but like I said if he looses the line on the spool that hes got the fish aint gonna stop no matter how heavy the line is.
  10. thanks thats what I told him but thought I would put it out here as well
  11. Hi all just throwing this out for a work mate. He has a Saltiga 6000 and is wondering if the spool from the 6500 will fit this reel so that he can get more line on. Any feed back would be appretiatedMoose
  12. The bouys that you seen were placed out there for the Southern States IRB (inflatable rescue boat) Challange that we ran against the Vics on the weekend, and when all strung out comprises of 27 cans on 3 strings. And just for info SA won the day by 9 pts and yes we are a dedicated lot and train nearly all year round when the racing stopes at the end of July we then get the people that want to get various awards traning so that they are ready for the new patrol season. Back to the boat in the picture Im pretty sure that they were placing the concrete blocks for the underwater scuba trail that r
