  1. After having a decent fresh fly session on Sunday ( http://www.strikehook.com/forum/23-freshwater-fishing/256055-after-rain-fresh-fly-flick ) I got the opportunity to head back out to the same spot on Monday (should give been doing housework, don't tell my wife!).Ended up with a similar bag to the day before, with a rainbow and reddy coming to play. My mate also connected with a fiery brown however this spat the fly back into his face. I dropped the same rainbow not once but twice as well, once heading down stream with a wooly bugger, and one heading upstream on the nymph.... He will be mine a
  2. There's heaps of massive bream that size in the lakes... They usually school just under the kingfish, and feed off the scraps left by the 10 foot plus bronze whalers that follow them. Or so I've heard.
  3. 'King awesome pics and fish there Dazz!! Looks like you had fun :-)I like the fly patch you are sporting on your lower lip he he he
  4. Had a quick flick on Anzac Day, managed my PB kids bike wheel... not a bad catch on 4lb tippet and 4wt fly rod :woohoo: You can see my fly near the centre hub.
  5. It's not that big Dazz, I think it is only a size 10 or 12 kamasan B830, just looks big in the pic. A lot I the commercially tied ones I have are bigger. Because it was so clear I started with very small flies: 16 and 18 dries and then really skinny wooly buggers in 14 and 16 but the fish didn't strike until I went chunky with lots if movement.
  6. On Good Friday two years ago I fell off a cliff during a fishing trip and destroyed myself for a while. To celebrate the anniversary of my stupidity I have fished the same spot at the same time the past two Good Fridays. Thankfully there is some flow occurring now, following the recent rains we have had. The pools and runs are still very shallow but even with the new flow are crystal clear- not very conducive for good fishing when the fish in the shallower waters can see you so easily and are very, very wary. I saw lots of trout, both rainbows and browns, as well as stacks of Redfin (lots of s

  10. They look awesome Dazz!I'll take a couple dozen thanks.
  11. Yeah, I sussed further up and much more water. The stretch below my house almost totally dries out in summer.
  12. There is no deeper pools for a very long way, I considered it but the bucket would need to be large as they aren't tiny fish. The stress of bucketing them may kill them as well. Definitely a shame if they died.....
  13. With the weather being a bit milder yesterday I decided to try to get a couple of Redfin from some schools I have found in the deeper pools of water near my house. Armed with a box of Buggers and my 4wt I marched off to try and find the reddies......Problem is I had to find the water first! Boy has it dropped in the last couple weeks.....Finally found a pool with some water in it and I could see a school of 6-8 reddies milling around on the bottom.....Started flicking Woolly Buggers at the reddies and first cast I hooked up to a little rainbow that spat the hooks, I reckon the fly was almost a
