  1. Rollcast' date=' I never post location in my posts and try to make all my photos so only people who already fish the area will recognize it so I don't get your post. I am very protective of this area as I live on its doorstep- I too have fished there for well over 20 years.. Not too sure what you mean about giving away too much as your post definitely does' date=' shall I stop posting? I get lots of PMs asking location and I have never told anyone and prefer to fish on my own.[/quote'']Nah Mate its all good ,I was not having a shot at you.I enjoy reading your posts.I think you have misinterpreted me.All I was saying Is the place is getting flogged but I am not suggesting it is your fault. It is a shame your rescue got reported on the news though.I got a laugh from your mate telling the media it was a crocodile attack.I do not think I have given any thing away that has not already been said in the above posts if you read them again.I apologise if you think this is incorrect.Glad to see you have taken up fly fishing.Cheers
They were talking at that location is what I got from it, not talking about that location which you named. *edit John two got in first then edited again. I am too slow on this iPad lol*My brother was the one who reported the crock attack lol. Yes, the helicopter was a bit annoying, at least it was only played that night. The creek has always been fished a lot, and I agree with you that there are even more people getting down there, luckily most dont do well. I still manage to pull fish most weekends thankfully. I wasn't having a go at you mate, I just got defensive as I do what I can to protect this creek and my name popped up twice in your post. If you are nearby one day I would love to catch up for a fish with you, always willing to learn from an experienced fly fisho. I am loving iit, getting an Abel for my birthday this week :-)Cheers mate

  3. yeah, heaps of surface action BUT fish are very flighty. I usually fish a section then rest the area for a week or two, unfortunately more people are actively hitting the area and I just hope they are releasing these fish as they are such a precious commodity. I may hit the browns further upstream this weekend. Was your 'bow from this area?

  4. Forgot to go to a conference today *cough* so I decided to return to the pool where I recently caught my first trout on fly (wooly bugger). Water was moving slowly and a bit murkier than on saturday. I tied on a bead head Mrs Simpson and had a hard strike after only a few casts, but unfortunately the fly and fish parted ways a few seconds later. Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImageJust after dropping that fish I saw two surface strikes about 10 metres or so from the large overhanging rock I was flicking wets under. Plenty of insect life was active, and the splashes I saw were enough to convince me to tie on a dry fly......Just after retrieving my first cast I noted one of the locals having trying to have 'sexy time' with my innocent little CDC emerger. This gave me some encouragement that I had sorta matched the hatch, and hopefully I could fool a trouty or two too!Posted ImagePosted ImageA few casts later, underneath an overhanging tree, my fly was smashed off the surface. Unfortunately I was too busy day-dreaming and I failed to set the hook. Such a rush watching your fly get smashed off the surface. With my heart pounding I flicked another cast in to the same area... nothing..... another cast..... nothing... just when I thought I have blown my chances my fly was again smashed, the fish actually leaping part way out the water. This time I was ready and after a very, very brief tussle another nice little 'bow was in my net.Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImageSafely released to grow a bit biggerhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wo5q21cvOrEThis fly fishing is very addictive, especially the surfaces takes.

  5. Well done Nick' date=' bloody Photobucket died on me today as well. I think they have problems.Don't let other peoples opinions worry you mate that was a nice release. Now next time get us some footage of the take ;):laugh::laugh: Good stuff.Cheers Dazz[/quote']Thanks Dazz, gonna have to chew your ear one of these days about my next setup.... Then the tying..... He he. We should catch up for a flick one day and you can show me some of the finer points ;-)If that's ok?Problem with videoing the take is you get to see my casting....
  6. so the water wasnt dirty for you??? my usual stretch was dirty as.... they must of bee doing some diggin and has come down

Last weekend was dirty as, couldnt see anything in the water. Today was clear as anything, massive change!
  7. Photobucket has now died on me....here is a short release vid... kept the fish in the water just for Berger ha ha ha (even gave him a little massage to aid in safe release) :evil:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8e7TUwiZoo4Thought I was going to donut today, then in the last pool I connected to a couple of feisty little rainbows. Also saw a bigger one smash something off the surface, so things are looking good for some dry fly action over the coming months! Was suprised to see rainbows as I usually get browns in this stretch. I feel so lucky to have brown and rainbow trout, as well as stacks of redfin, withing a few hundred metres of my house

  8. Well done Bream ReaperWait til spring' date=' a caddis/adams parachute on a size 16 or so :woohoo:[/quote']Well stocked up already mate, can't wait! I have been spotting the brownies and a few rainbows a bit more regularly lately so can't wait for some surface action. It was really frustrating last year watching the trout smashing bugs off the top whilst ignoring my hb/sp's.
  9. I love the way reddies follow you with their eyes when you land them' date=' very cool little fish. Well done Nick.Cheers Dazz[/quote']Cheers Dazz, would have been nice to have christened the setup with a brownie but I think my poo casting and un-natural presentation meant that wasn't happening today :woohoo: As you can see, I didn't stretch to a txl-f as the tax man didn't like me quite that much ha ha, plus I thought I would destroy something cheap first and then buy something nicer when I have learnt a bit more about immovable objects and flimsy bits of carbon fibre ;)
  10. FINALLY got my 3wt fly set up together this week so I couldnt wait to get out and use it. Had a spare hour or two after work this arvo so I thought that rather than go and practice trying to cast the thing (the sensible thing given I have NEVER fly fished before)I would hit my local creek and try to see how many trees I could catch.I started off with a couple of different dry flies and managed to catch several trees, some bull-rushes, a rock, some dry grass and myself (mixed bag for sure). After being so succesfull with the dry I switched to the good-ole Woolly Bugger to see how many submerged logs, boulders and snags I could add to my tally.... just after releasing my PB waterlogged tree root I accidentally snagged a Redfin..... poor little bugger. Thankfully I managed to then hook a branch vertically above me that fought too well and damaged my furled leader, so I decided to trudge home before I injured any more innocent fish.Didnt manage to spot any of the bloody trout I usually see though.Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image
