  1. I wash it off before adding flour ect otherwise it stays soggy when you fry it, tried once cooking with the kiwi and it stewed a bit 'was'nt good'. :S but i'm no chief either!
  2. try matching to a penn pinpoint around $100-120.theres a few diff weights to choose from depending on what your trying to catch.
  3. there is footage on you tube of them catching fish they do look shit and probably have f all action but they would be great for fish like st's/flathead that eat anything that moves
  4. Iv'e only ever seen them sold as euro carp or their scientific name cyprinus carpio? not too sure about 'most fish shops in aus'?I have only ever seen them in suburbs of cities with certain ethnic populations like greek, croacian and asian.
  5. I understand completly AFF so your mainly after a rod for lure casting plastics/hardbodies? for chasing mid sized fish.Mabey a blank similar to the lighter snapper t-curves 3-5kg 1.8-2m would be suitable? with a decent 3000 size reel?cheers wes
  6. I agree with a lot of the responses here, with whats on the shelf these days it would be hard to beat with a custom rod, if it where me Id'e spend a small amount on a rod and the bulk on a good quality reel cheers wes
  7. Sorry just seen this post why would that make a difference weather it was all braid or braid backed up with mono? It wouldn't Projoe, what you talkin bout??
  8. pretty common way of setlining for catties in NSW.From the title I thought she was going to dip her jugs/rack in the water and pull out some suckerfish or something... so please excuse my dissapointment
  9. or Don't root thy neighbour?
  10. spot on the gov is currently trying to pack OZ like a can of sardines when the water resources we have are already under considerable pressure, the murray is slowly dieing and now melb has joined adelaide to attampt to suck it dry because those cities haven't built large enough catchments for their expanding population.Growth is great for the economy but whats the use of a strong economy if the population ends up dieing of thirst!I like to get my rant out of the way early cheers wes
  11. damn it  Thanks Station49 that might be enough to take it off the shoping list.cheers wes
  12. Does anyone know if they come with a spare spool like the FI ?cheers wes
  13. to save money on postage and the delays/damage and inconvenience why not just send out 2 lures per person who enters and even have a reduced cost entry fee to cover the lures production?Cranka covers supply and entered members cover marketing?just an idea
  14. what a cutie. those tree perch don't sound too bad either as my lures spend alot of time in their strikezone!
  15. close to me it tastes like chicken X sqiud X cray
  16. amazing they lasted 10 minutes on the adelaide  agree with the above mentioned 'put them back on their upturned boat' then throw a bucket of cows blood over them for marination
  17. is the ratchet leaver loose? might just be a matter of replacing the spring?EDIT' sorry i take that back,it's a different reel to what i initially thought :S
  18. I have an old 5ft solid fibreglass JW rod with wooden handle stainless seat ect thats a great little stick for big cod.also have a couple of newer baitfishing rods that are great and almost unbreakable on these I have JW 6000 size tournament reels that where valued at $120 around 5 years ago and they havent missed a beat.I think their supa cheap stuff is rubbish but what isn't at those prices? spend a little more-$100-$200 and they have some very reliable gear.cheers wes
  19. if your settling in for a baitfish it's probably not worth going to the end unless you can see breaking waves 800m straight off the end. when it's rough the snapper/mullies come in and generally the only clean water is under the last 200m of jetty and the fish seem to like the clear / dirty water line in those conditions.Always worth flicking some plastics right along the jetty though for salmon, snook, coota, flatties, mullies ect theres no deep gutters under the raised platform but it's at the point that the seagrass thins out and exposes the bare sand patches. ;)I sopose the sharks are kind
  20. no probs David I normally only add 3 minutes onto the victor tide and it seems pretty accurate? what net site are you checking?they do catch a few sharks off the jetty mainly gummies, schoolies and the odd bronze, they always seem to be caught half way down the jetty on the slightly raised part of the jetty? no idea why but iv'e never seen one caught further out past that point?sometimes theres shapper off the end when it's rough.the beaches in the area don't tend to be very productive for mullies unless you go south into canunda or north around kingston.the salmon hole is always worth a try w
  21. g'day mate, with the tides just look up victor harbour tides and all you need to do is add on 3-4 minutes. 2 weeks ago there was a few largeish mullies (30-50lb) caught off the jetty at night using fresh mac's live or fillets and squid they wernt interested in frozen baits, they slowed down last week with the moon but should pick back up again soon. The squid are getting harder to find with cold water pushing in off the shelf but there are a few arrow coming into the bay with the cold water.when carm (north wind) the mac's are coming in in decent numbers around dusk.Still a few good whiting bei
  22. I totally understand as squiding is one of my favourite forms of fishing.my approach is to have a good teaser combo to throw large plastics and lures a long way to attract them (5000 stradic on 5-8 kg tcurve) then use a bream rod to jig them once their in view.I hear over adelaide way theirs a lot more squid around so I can understand just using jigs in that kind of situation.good luck finding what your after and let us know how the 8footer goes ;)cheers wes
  23. yep that song should have made number 1 on the charts what ya mean off topic? seemed very appropriate
  24. That could take off! I suggest we all start the outside underpants vigilante group to patrol local recreational fishing destinations!Red underpants are the only prerequisite for membership of our little force! :cheer:[/quote[/quotesounds good! I have 2 pairs of red jocks so i suppose i'm good for 2 patrols a week Will save the black jocks for covert deep cover night missions.
  25. sorry Sambo for some reason I thought you where in a boat, always a good idea to carry a baseball bat in your car + a ball of course for when you go to the park for practice Not a problem Ranger I always wear my jocks over my pants I saw all the young people wearing pants around their knees and thought id'e go 1 better have some karma for that post mate
