  1. just come back from sitting on those hard bum cushions on Sullies breakwater. 4 Mullet, 2 toadies and something that busted me off under the float. (2 x 1kg salmon caught by a guy a little further away on soft plastics).
  2. wimp I will take that as good humour.........I think? But when you are waiting on a knee replacement, have 2 bulging discs and had inflamed bursars in both shoulders well ya gotta be a little cautious yes, was definitely meant in just in good humour Poppa Was just meaning, we fishermen work through any pain to just go fishing But in reality it can't always be the case - and I too would be a little cautious, so hope you start getting on the mend soon and once all is right with you, you can start to get out for a fish
  3. Yeah knew that, just wondered if you were taking the fridge but sounds like a no lol
  4. Not over the weekend but was looking at Monday, although I see some strong Northerlies coming through which will probably stop me - unless I find some protection from the wind. Taking the fridge with you to KI ? At least you wont have any donut days
  5. You can definitely take up photography during the closed Trout session
  6. He certainly has a nice spot Barney.
  7. That is just a 'WOW' shot, very nice indeed.
  8. Well I suppose if you're not fishing you might as well compare the Thistle Seed Heads !
  9. And from what I have read, they are still going to keep their ebay store active - so that is a bit of a positive for them (probably making more $ from ebay ! )
  10. Looks like another fishing store to close @ Anglers Choice, Beach Rd Christies Beach. Seems the business has been for sale for a while as they are wanting to retire and travel, but unfortunately they haven't had any takers to buy. Closing this Sunday (30/4) at this stage with a 20% sale in the meantime. I rarely went in there, but when I had I received some good service/advice from Arthur and he even gave me his business card to ring him if I need any information etc. But sad another has to close down.
  11. Saw this post on CoastfishTV (on Facebook) about a guy (and possibly a female partner) that has been dwindling money and fishing gear out of people. https://www.facebook.com/CoastfishTV/?fref=nf (for those on FB, you may have to scroll down for this particular post, although atm it is staying near the top with all the comments) I think he is interstate and may have been happening for many years, so putting this info up for all, especially our interstate members. So be wary of buying anything from unknown people as you don't want to say goodbye to some some hard earned cash. Th
  12. I don't catch pillies myself but someone may be able to give some advice soon (although many are away for Easter atm). I just buy the frozen salted ones and are not too dear or even at the markets as fresh (but harder to keep on the hook) and a little cheaper again. Also, I have read that you can buy a Sabiki rig which could have upto 8 hooks on the line - but with only 3 hooks permitted on one line I'm not sure how legal these rigs are or why they are allowed to be sold. So I would just make up your own rig with 3 hooks (even with the little feathers on them) and/or white coloured ba
  13. That is an awesome prize pack - When you put them all on (except the windscreen shade) I bet the wife will think she has a new fisherman in the house
  14. Are you really sure those bees have the correct name ? I'm sure they are the 'Brown Trout Bee', the 'Rainbow Trout Bee' and a 'Blackfish' or 'Atlantics' thrown in for good measure. I only think this due to your 'Trout Brain'
  15. I just use a swivel when joining the main line to a leader as with my knot tying for line to line may not be the best I always use the 'improved clinch knot' when tying a swivel to the leader and when attaching a hook as it is easy and quite strong. But the Palomar knot is really is a knot for line to hook (or swivel) not really a line to line. But when I have joined spoiled Mono (30lb as a spool filler) onto 15 - 20lb Braid I use a Double Uni knot. Here is a site that shows various knots that may help. http://www.netknots.com/fishing_knots
  16. Adrian, you do realise that as part of the prize pack you will have to take one of your selfies in one of the trout rivers showing off the Spotters and the 'very cool cap' (It's in the T&C's / fine print)
  17. Congratulations Adrian on your prize win as a result of your great reports and photo. You'll be able to see more trout now with those Spotters
  18. I 'liked' your post but I don't like what happened - I feel your pain
  19. Looks simple and nice. The squeeze of lemon juice is a must for any seafood imo
  20. I thought exactly as SaltyFlyer did (before seeing his post) on how eerie the fog makes it look - great minds think alike Salty Hope you get some more good shot tomorrow morning Adrian
  21. Depends on what you might want to be targeting on the jetty. Like sbarden says, if you're after gar, tommies, ST's and even mullet then you shouldn't have a problem at all. But for example, you hooked up a good salmon or even good sized bream, then that might give your rod a work out.
  22. Good, in fact a great video Bjorn. Only problem is .... that puts a lot more pressure and competition on the rest of us lol ....... which is great, as hopefully more visitors and members for S&H
  23. Another good video Allroy and also some good tackle talk at the beginning - well done.
