  1. yup, spot on. i keep everything in my head, but if i did excel spread sheets, i think you would find the patterns fairly easy
  2. always more of an advantage with a longer rod land based, please (except boat)
  3. hey mateI use a variety of leader and have a nice selection of brands and lbs.In the surf and rocks, I use Jinkai (green and red) pretty much exclusively, this is not flurocarbon. For all my small stuff and livebaiting I use flurocarbon - Sunline, Berkely Vanishbuy a proper wind on if you want to use that, definitely don't use flurocarbon...Flurocarbon was never designed to wind onto your reel.Another tip, fish next to a guy using high quality leader or flurocarbon and he will always outfish you, so in my opinion, flurocarbon is amazing
  4. As a treat to myself once I finish uni for the year I am going to buy myself a rod and reel for a diverse range of situations around SA, including rocks, jetties, livebaiting for mullies, kingfish etc.I won't say what I am leaning towards but ideas and discussion welcome. Some required specs include... LENGTH for leverage(7ft plus), minimum 300m 30lb (maybe 40lb) braid, 15kg of drag, responsive, versatile, able to cast well, tough.
  5. i busted the sensors on the cast, maybe i just got unluckyu do have to be a lot more careful with them compared to an 8144an 8144 imo will last your lifetime and will handle anythingi couldnt imagine a sensor surf lasting a lifetime though, i did get another one, and this hasnt broken but i use it where i dont have to cast much.they are lovely to use, no doubting that, but i would want an 8144 if i had 1 rod
  6. don't doubt it, but depends on what you doing... surf and rock fishing requires something that can take a knock, right?
  7. disagree strongly here with you southie.sensors snap, had 2 snap on me... they don't like the wear and tear of LB use and you have to be so careful you don't knock them, but you always do when you are scaling a cliff or clambering to a spot.they are a glam, lovely weather fisherman's rod.an 8144 will take the world on, take the wind and storms on, cast 8oz lead with half a kilo of salmon, put fear of god into weed monsters and never say "i give up"only negative is they are heavier, otherwise they beat the sensor in every category.
  8. plenty snapper around, do as boys said, end of glenelg or brighton jetties, use burley, noarlunga would be worth a shot too
  9. Both power stations been OFF all season, water temp 12ish to 17ish compared to last year as further evidence.
  10. how has the lb snapper fishing been going mate?
  11. boondoggy dog hey. getting too familiar mate
  12. A few rules of Surf and Rock fishing as this is pretty much all I do and what I can offer in my experiences.Snyder Glas 8144 ($219 from Ray Annes) is the best rod, can do anything, as well as Wilson 5120, "Mulloway", Gary Howard's and other second hand rods like Butterworths and old Snyders.I just snapped a almost brand new Daiwa Sensor Surf last week on a 2 foot doggie on a calm surf beach with no pressure through the rod, i kid you not. I only bought one to test out how "amazing" they are supposed to be. They do cast very well though, although I wouldn't be plonking fillets of salmon out on
  13. snyder glas mate. 8 wrap. the new ones wilson make are in the shops now, and look just as good as the old ones. not fuji guides though.
