  1. My luck's been so bad i stopped counting trips and just thought of it in months. before today my lucks been out since January-hopefully now the drought has broken
  2. A thumper squid my son caught at Stenhouse Bay-we had to use the crab net as we were afraid the line would pop if we tried a lift
  3. I was flicking through the mag at the stationers shop just to check it out-yep im hooked. left with mag in bag and smile on face
  4. thx for the heads up-may check it out on the weekend
  5. I know there's heaps of mags fpr fishing about, much less for SA though and most of those are for boaties. Does the WildCoast mag cater well for us poor shore based anglers who haunt Yorkes or is it more mainstreamed?
  6. Thx heaps-ive tried this b4 and always stuffed it up. Your info was so much easier to understand and the end resuly looks great
  7. I sometimes use a rig my Dad showed me a million years ago. Run a line from the sinker and attach the hooks on a leader starting from the sinkea 3 way swivel is a big help. attach some sork or foam for lift to the end of the leader. this lets u fish deeper and comes in handy on rough windy days
  8. Hi,Im after some recipes (easy ) to make fish patties. I hope their are some helpful cooks out their. Im going to try to increase my variety for salmon, tommies and salmon trout thatll get my family eating more of what i catch lolcheersspog
  9. I scored a large plano box at a garage sale for $10 and albeit battered and scarred i can put anything and everything into it-even a spare alvey and spinner spools. I keep it in the van when i go fishing as i have an old rucksack with a few cheapie plastic containers which i fill with gear i reckon i'll need - depending on where im fishing. better climbing those bloody long stairs on the foot beaches or over thumper dunes with the pack rather than the tackle box
  10. Jetties and beaches are fun. I love sqidding on jetties and walking the beach flicking the lure about but my true love is searching for those rascally bream that hide in the estuaries
  11. Thanks for the quick heads up guys. The link to the knot site is a little ripper-thx pin point. I'll get some 6lb and give a go and thx Del for the alvey info-ive got a spare egg beater dusting up the shed so i'll give it a nice little service and start flicking. Also the leader info was a big help
  12. Ive been a mono user all my life and with all the push for braid i was hoping someone could explain why it seems better. Im maily thinking of using it on a reel for flicking plastics about. Will it work ok on an alvey sidecast or is a spinning reel the go? Do i still used a mono leader or can I use the braid directly with my plastics/poppers etc. From reading the forum i have now learnt about 8strand, Pe etc but the basics still elude me. Is it worth buying some and converting one of my reels and as im only after bream, flatties etc what strength do i go forthanks for any helpspog
  13. What a ripper catch. Congrats on the PB.
  14. Ive got an old lumber jacket that ive had since the 70's (glad i bought it many sizes too big lol ) that i wouldnt part with for all the tea in China-perfect for cold jetty nights. For beach fishing i invested in a spray jacket-best thing ive done of late as it certainly proved itself at Butlers last weekend. plus being light i dont collapse when getting back to the car lol
