Same as most places Mac, right time and tide will catch a few.Only issue is that the boat traffic through their is very high so Monday to Thursday is best.Also as Boyo said, you will lose your anchor if you snag up any of the cable that is laying all over the place that has been there for 15 years +Better option is the reefs to the left of Sulli's and finding a nice ledge..

Hi guys,The settings I have been playing around with that give me the best results are what I stated above. 48fps at 1080. As we are using this to record our sailing we often hit speeds in excess of 20knots with the gps clocking 27knots the other day. On a 18ft catamaran you can beef it pretty quickly at these speeds hence the required frame rate and picture quality. I would rather be running 60fps but it does chew the juice quicker.Slowing the frame rate or the picture quality would mean a poor quality finish.I have played with the Protune on and off and there is a slight change in battery use.. My issue was the camera was mounted to a fixed point ahead of the cat so I couldn't put another battery in midway through the race otherwise I would have been fine.TT, not sure what you mean mate, there is no other camera apart from a Contour, GoPro or similar that you can take underwater, mount to your boat or strap to your head. You can get an LCD screen for them as well, I find I can use the iPhone instead.

I picked up the GoPro 3 Black last fortnight for the Freshwater Classic Milang to Goolwa race. Couple of things I have found with the camera I am not happy about and lots that I am.Happy.Picture quality is better than anything you have ever seen. The action shots I took of 30 shots a second mean you can do a great sequence.The WiFi connect App is great, on the iphone you can select all the different settings and record video or shoot pictures.The case is very tough, dont think the attachments are as tough though...Sad.Battery life is dismal, I get around an hour out of the standard battery. From the moment you turn it on the Wifi is chewing the battery so quick its almost disgusting they let it out of the factory like this. I have now bought 2 spare batteries with a charger so I have them ready to go. The Battery BackPack only gives around an extra 30-45mins as well.If filming on 1080 at 46 frames a second I fill a 16gig Micro card on one battery or close to it.The Type of card you want for the best results is a Class 10 with a write speed higher than 45meg a second. I have a 90meg a second card but they cost big $$'sThe footage I got from us sailing down the Narrows at Goolwa was pretty good, unfortunately I ran out of battery when the wind started to come through and we were hitting 25knots on a reach.Looking at getting another one as one is not enough once you start playing with these things and they are mounted in fixed positions..Cheers

I have done the drag upgrade for all of my reels over the years.TLD's 15 - 20 - 25. Did the Alan Tani upgrade on the 25 and the difference is incredible. Everything from my 1500's through to the 6500's on Spin and Light baitcasters through to lever drag. Costs a bit but if you do a couple every month it works out. I also run them wet with Cals Grease.

10kg on 6lb bass hard on a luvias 1500 matched to a StCroix ultra light and only landed because it took a circle.

Watch out if landbased fishing, there are crocs and they will come up without you even seeing them. Just because its a big sandy beach does not mean they are not there.. If you can get some live bait then rig a 30lb - 50lb leader with a 7/0 circle and send it out. If you see a guy throwing a cast net around tell him you will give him $5 for a dozen herring. (You will need a bucket to keep them alive unless you fish next to the guy)Send out one line with a live bait and cast lures with the other to keep you busy.I would use 30lb braid on most of my mid range gear.Estuary fishing can be a bit hit and miss. See if you can get a Sunrise or sunset session instead of a 9 - 5 day. Most of them will do it. And if they are not using live bait then they are not a good operator who wants to put you onto fish.Cheers

I'll throw something a bit different into the mix and suggest a Berkley Dropshot. If it's plastics you're after I love these. Have not used a Blades & Tails so cant really comment on it.What's your budget?Personally I would not be using a plastics rod for bait. But I will use a jigging rod for bait. But I fish off a boat, am a short ass, and find that a shorter rod around 5'8 which is like a lighter Jigging style rod really is great fun to use. Throwing plastics is different unless its in deeper water where your dropping it straight down.

Sam go the Luvias.Bang for buck they are a step above the Ci4 and with an after market handle/knob will do more than any Cod or Golden will ask of it.Certate or Stella is way over kill. You have seen the size of the gear we use on the Snapps and there was no issue there.

A 20lb handline....LolFave Whiting rig is a Calcutta 50 with 20lb finns and Carbontec drag and abec 7 bearing upgrade on a CB 566 IMX Loomis. Also doubles as a Snapper rod in case I lose one over the side.Snapper rod is a Sol 300 with upgrades running 30lb finns on a custom built Heartland 2-4kg that has been shortened on the tip and extended in the butt and running fuji lowrider guides. That combo has pulled up stingrays, snapper, sharks and tuna and I keep trying to break it as a couple of members off Strike hook have seen.The Sol has started to get a little rough so it needs a rebuild but replacing it will be the Luvias 2500R.For Ultra light I have a Luvias 1500 with 4lb Bass hard and a St Croix custom stick with TATSG guides. I also use this on Whiting and Snapper if they are around in numbers for fun. Great for light plastics and Ultra small hard bodies.

Fins windtamer 300yard spools for $10. Bought 10 packs of different strength and delivered for another $20 to OZ. That's me sorted for half my reels.Found its supple and good enough. As good as Bassman or YGK or similar.Buying a well known brand in bulk and splitting it with your mates is the best way to go.

AFF are you drifting the baits with a baitcaster or spin reel?And when your stripping line are you keeping in contact with the bait or is there a couple of loose loops of line floating on the surface?If your keeping in contact with the bait as its drifting down keep the reel in gear and strip the line instead of free spooling once your bait is in the area the fish are holding. If they hit it dont strike just let the drag hook them. Once your rod is bending and the line is coming off the reel then your hooked up.And as nickmav says keep the hook point and gape clear or you will keep missing hits. The more slack you give the fish the more chance it will swallow the circle instead of pinning on the lip.Cheers

Nice haul Assassin, did you get up close and personal when the charter boats stopped? I find they like to be right where you are anchored the majority of the time and will drift through the area then anchor right on top of you.Many boats out there through out the day? Watch out for the afternoon seabreeze up there..Cheers
