  1. Disregard my earlier post. For some reason I thought the Fin Nor weighed close to a kilo. Only weighs 844g. You'd be silly not to go one after Alan Hawks review. Would leave around $360 for a very capable rod. Could get a Saltist Demon Blood 762X or 82XH for around 400.
  2. For your application at that price range, I'd go with a 10000 Spheros SW and a Daiwa Saltist Hyper 962XHS. What part of the state are you fishing in if you don't mind me asking?
  3. Beware of eBay sellers Brankin. The prices on those rods have been inflated massively. Can be found for much less elsewhere. I've noticed a heap of eBay sellers with ridiculous prices, biomasters at $600 plus as an example. I really hope people do their research before they hand over money to these crooks.
  4. Thanks Hugo, I have a Saragosa 6000 which weighs about the same. You think it will handle 70g hardbodies? They are a bit less aerodynamic and create more drag on the cast than metals of the same weight.
  5. Any chance you could weigh / know the weight of this rod Hugo? I'm looking for something that can handle 50-70g Hardbodies.
  6. I run the Lateo 106m with a Shimano Arc Aero Ci4+. Duel hardcore x8 PE1.2. So light and can cast all day with it. Cast weight is 40g as mentioned before. Was clearing the breakers with a 30g Duel Adagio about a month ago. I think the cast weight is pretty much spot on. Is great at throwing 20-30g hardbodies and plastics as well.
  7. Well done mate. Very jealous. Been trying the last couple of years to get one. Have had a 70cm + king follow my plastic for about 20m, so close to it, the paddle tail would of been tickling its nose. Didn't realise they were still around at this time of year.
  8. A little off there. A 5000 Daiwa is equivalent to a Shimano 10000. There is a new Twinpower SW out in Japan, not sure if it's coming down here. The 10000 is a low gear model.
  9. My solid hardbody caught Squid from Port Lincoln Town Jetty
  10. Here's a link for more info on it: http://www.plat.co.jp/shop/catalog/product_info/language/en/products_id/19086/cPath/32_1350/osCsid/bd0865c0d08eff4187478bfc3217a4cd/fishing-gear-accessories.html
  11. Have a look for the Daiichi Seiko Knot Assist 2.0. It's a great little tool for tying FGs in up to 70lb leader I think. I bought one a couple of years ago and haven't looked back since. It gives you a very tight finish.
  12. Hmm. .6 or .4 PE is what I'll go with I think. At least on my second rarenium spool. At the moment I have one spool with .8 / 12lb castaway and some old 10lb super PE on the other. I might give the fluorocarbon a go on a smaller Penn I have here.
  13. Thanks for the input. What was casting distance like? I will be fishing a mixture of flats, marinas, west lakes etc. So because of the stretch you weren't able to guide fish out of structure?
  14. Anybody here run Straight fluoro on their ultralight spinning setups? I'm after pros and cons. Obviously the no leader knot is a plus. I'm guessing stretch would be one of the minuses? Thinking of running one of the spinning flouros in 3lb.
  15. The Japanese 'light game' and 'Aji' rods will be the ones to look for. Most have a cast weight of around 0.5 - 10g and length between 6-8ft.
  16. The 3 zeros look pretty good specs wise. No problems with micro guides, fuji k. I love my K guided rods.
  17. I don't think you'll need to run 20lb for Coorong Mullies. I think the guides will struggle with 20 unless you can tie a good FG. 15lb is more than enough for down there.
  18. And another thing, I was always a shimano man myself until I tried Daiwa's rods. Overall, Daiwa poops all over Shimano in the rod stakes. Now it's Daiwa rods and Shimano reels for me.
  19. I have a 'Wild Weasel', good versatile stick. 6'10, 2-6kg, 2-14g cast weight. Blanks are nice and crisp. The micro guides take some getting used to, but with a good slim beauty or FG I have run up to 15lb leader on PE1. I love it.
  20. Have you seen the seaeagles? http://australia.seaeagle.com/FramelessFishingBoats/STS10 Looks like a quality fit out with everything you need.
  21. The specs look good. Sic guides etc. The 3m gear is meant to be pretty good. I've never held one though.
  22. The reason I ask is I'm in the market for a new 9 footer with a cast weight of around 10-15g to 50g. Should I hold off?
  23. Any more info you are allowed to leak here projoe? Are the catalogues in the shops yet?
