reckon I said in my original post,a Wilsom MT 8144 "Mulloway",rated at 20kg
-
I'd take it back to where I bought it,and try it against another "new one"
-
Whatever set up you choose is up to you, just be under no illusion that a 10 or 12 foot surf rod + 80 lb line + 8 foot of shark = bloody hard work!Entirely different experience than from the stones or planks with the same reel / line on a stroker type rod.See you at the chiro at 9 am Monday.

I like Wilson MT 8144's "Mulloway" model......rated at 15 to 20 kg...........have 2 of them,1 for spinner (Penn 9500 ss......USA built) and 1 for o/head (ABU 10 000)......both running 30lb mono........I prefer 1 piece,but my opinion only.....available in 2 piece as well though.They are an "old school" rod.......nothing "fancy",just ballsy and functional and get the job done.........around the $170 to $200 mark.Hope that gives you a start anyway

Poms would love 'em if they do.........."mudsucker M & M's"

Don't upset the greenies saying this, maggots have feelings too you know
-
good video fella.......last couple of fish were ball tearers
-
would that make it a "hard body" or a "flopy"?.........depends on water temp I guess
-
good job snake at least he had boardie's on and not a wee kilt Jimmy
-
Well, after a lot of "to and fro" and "umm-ing and ah-ing",I finally purchased a Gary Howard Breambo 4W 10' 1 piece 3-4 kg rod Thanks for all your suggestions.Cheers

Great clip.Love to see her at Dangerous Reef, chain suit or not!

Just got lazy dozen mullet, ranging from 30 to 35cm,on an Eastern Yorkes beach.Couple of beers and the footy no though.
-
I don't use a "special knot".......just use 6lb line, that either breaks easily and the balloon floats off,or if it does drag the balloon under, the water pressure will pop it.
-
nice boat what about "Spoilt Rotten"
-
Some good input guys, thanks.I'll check out the Heartland in store, then I'll be in touch with you Ranger.Cheers
-
it's not a matter of having to "cast that far".......it's just the "long, sloppy action" that appeals.......the fishing rod I'm talkin' about
-
I have my main line ( 50 lb ) tied to a 400lb swivel......from the swivel eye, where my main line is tied,I have about 30cm of 12lb line tied to my balloon(s)......the bottom eye of the swivel,I have 3m of wire trace (usually around 400lb) to 2 x 10/0 hooks.Float out on the wind / tide........see what happens
-
mainly mullet and silver whiting on the tidal flats on Yorkes, and probably even "swamp trout" in the Torrens under floats.Trying something different

sounds like she's a real Gem mate...........hang onto her!there's an old saying "Happy wife, happy life".........stick with it if you know what's good for you

Hi all,I'm looking at purchasing a new rod in the 10 to 12 foot range, for a spinning reel in the "2500" size range,to suit lines up to about 4kg.I have been looking at a Wilson Live Fibre Blackfish rod......which is 10' 6" and rated at 1 to 3kg..........I like this one and at around $150,seems good value.Just wondering if any of you "tackle guru's" know of anything "comparable" that I can compare with the Live Fibre before I purchase.Budget to $250.Cheers in advance

2 white or yellow balloons stand out pretty well I reckon against a dark blue / green sea
