  1. Just walk straight down from the car park.....
  2. Good to see some good reports..... Need to get down there soon to stock up on bait for our Coffin Bay trip after Xmas....
  3. Hmmm..... fair enough..... Ha ha! Would have to be keen to eat the Bream from the lakes....@ Cal - blind mullet is on the list already.... about 10 from the bottom....
  4. he musta took the mullies aswell @ smokeykebab - CARP!?!?? Was it healthy??? Bit of a concern one surviving in a saltish water environment....
  5. The difference being that West Lakes is an enclosed' date=' man made lake and Coffins/Port Augusta are not.[/quote']Yes i understand that, but West Lakes isn't 10m square either..... There are plenty of places for Kingfish to hide and never be seen regardless of how often one fishes the area....
  6. So because samboman hasn't caught one in there that must mean they aren't there.....Well I fish the Murray very regularly using techniques that could catch Murray Cod yet I haven't seen nor caught one in the past few years so there mustn't be any Murray Cod in the Murray.Until very recently despite using all the right techniques I had never caught a Silver Perch in the Murray - must've meant they only swam in there very recently.... Up until then they mustn't of been there....I'm not saying they definitely AREN'T in there.... Like everyone else I am saying it is highly possible they are.... Ju
  7. So obviously you are the be all and end all of West Lakes fishing samboman, how did the squid get in there in the first place?? Must be some rare form of flying squid???And how did the Mulloway, Bream, etc. get in there in the first place?? Maybe they are a rare form of flying fish???And for what its worth, my best mate at school grew up not 100m from West Lakes so I have fished it at lot more than the average angler......But I am sure there is no way I have fished it as much as you Samboman.... Or caught anywhere near the number of variety of fish that you have..... How on earth could someone
  8. ACTUALLY, 12 months ago at the start of this thread you said you'd been fishing it for 7 years.... :S :S In all honesty, surely logic would dictate that there is EVERY chance there could be rat kings in there.I remember someone saying there was no chance of squid being caught in there - then someone caught one.No chance of sharks being caught in there - then someone caught one.I mean really - if a 30lb or bigger Mulloway can be in there, why not anything else?? These are man made lakes, once upon a time they weren't there - the big Mulloway didn't just magically appear.....
  9. Maybe your mate should apologise to those guys in that boat too....
  10. Yep, had this discussion on here (or maybe the other forum) about 5 years ago and we had it confirmed with Fisheries they definitely aren't protected.I was speaking to an old timer at Beachport once who swore by eating them..... He did say there was a lot of prep work involved, but he said he had been eating them for years....
  11. For variety Screwpile Jetty is good.... can catch pretty much anything off there..... but can also make the long walk and not get a bite!!
  12. Have an iPhone and would love an App...Tide times would be good, all other weather info, maybe the moon phases..... not sure if you can get the rules and regs on there too regarding min sizes and bag limits?!
  13. Yep.... I went two years in a row and never again...... Absolute rip off to get in... Was hoping with the move back to Wayville it may've been better but obviously not...
  14. When i fish out of the boat I use 4lb braided line, 4lb leaders..... No need to fish heavier and on quiet days it can spook the squid I reckon.... Landbased you definitely need to go heaver - I don't fish lighter than 15lb from jetties, etc.
  15. Have seen a few people doing it when we have been there in the tinny and they always used floats....I would walk along as far as you want.... In front of the cliffs would be the best place to be.... Cast as far as you can... I would use two rods.... One with a float one with a normal jag...
  16. Is normally replayed during the week at some stage.... normally a few times.....
  17. Haven't caught fish on the Squidgies yet but I'm not a good SP fisherman...Have caught Snapper, Mulloway, Bream, Salmon Trout all on the GULP....
  18. We caught one at Cape Jervis awhile ago that was over 3kg.... and it tasted fine!!Not sure about the size in comparison to this one though... This one looks a lot thicker through the body... I reckon the one we got had longer tentacles though.... Looks to be heavier than ours though... You would think around 4kg...
  19. Do you regularly fish in the river Murray? Yes I doHow often do you fish in the Murray? Depending on season - as much as once a week when the fish are on - at least once a monthHow long have you fished in the Murray? Since I was 5 - fished with lures targetting Murray Cod for 5 or 6 yearsDo you ever target Murray Cod? Most definitelyHave you ever caught a Murray Cod, or seen one caught? Yes caught a few myself, seen plenty of others caughtHow many Cod do you think there are today compared to ‘pest’ species in the river? (highlight)Very Few Few Average Plenty Abundant.I would
  20. I agree, seems very early to be closing. I remember a few years ago heading down with a mate after work, but we were very disappointed at the lack of fishing gear on display and we found it quite boring - the best thing about it was the Cas was next door, lol!!Having said that, I think if you are specifically after something like a boat or new sounder it is definitely the place to buy it, especially on the Sunday as they would sometime rather sell gear than pack it up so you can get some great prices!!!
  21. Could try for salmon around between rapid head and Morgan beachOr try the sandy holes towards normanville should be plenty of whiting around by now...
  22. You would think someone would proof read this stuff... I guess though its probably not a priority for them as I wouldn't think anyone would buy the paper specifically for the fishing reports...
  23. For the fisherman who has everything....http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/smallfish_info.php?products_id=4329Yes, I've got one, ha ha ha!!! Lasted about three weeks before the missus made me pack it up ha ha ha!!!
