  1. Sounds like he cut the whole tail off and not just the barb....I have caught many a sting ray without a tail, so they can survive without it, but it is there for a reason and it is their defence mechanism so they would struggle to survive for too long....Anyone with half a brain can handle a ray with a barb... They aren't dangerous if you take your time.

  3. You little beauty!! 8 out of 8 for me this week!!!
  4. Most were a cracking size too, and we left them biting... had a nice one chasing the 45th to the boat.....
  5. Thanks for everyones help!! We managed a boat limit south of Brighton..... looking forward to have another crack before too long!!
  6. Thanks Bocky!! Haven't had a good feed of squid for ages, so even if we can get 20 I'd be more than happy!!
  7. Thanks guys. Think I'll be going from West Beach and south and fishing down to Marino and just drifting...
  8. Hi All,Managed to secure Sunday as a fishing day and keen as to get into some squid from the tinny.Looking at heading off of Adelaide but not sure where. A mate said he got some at North Haven, but just wondering if any others have been getting into them. Will only be going out there if the weather is calm, if not, I'll be chasing Salmon Trout in the Coorong!! Of course don't want to be going out too far as I only have a 3.95m tinny. Thanks!Nathan
  9. Nice fish thats for sure, but I don't know about this crap about it being the third biggest caught in Australia or whatever..... when we had the massive run in the south east 3 or so years ago, I am sure there were at least 2 or 3 caught that were over 200kg.....Obviously not official though....
  10. Have put the Sol up for sale on the FOR SALE section if anyone is interested...
  11. Sounds awesome!!! Can't wait for the pics!!

  13. I would have to say the first time I saw a Murray Cod's head break the surface - awesome sight!! I'll never forget it...And seeing a mate finally land a big Mulloway on his third trip over to Yalata having seen everyone else in our group land one on previous trips....
  14. urhookedfish wrote: I didn't have the tuning done, the guy I bought it from did. I bought two of the exact same reel and have only used the other one - this one has just sat in its box since I got it....I think it more has to do with the extra bearings - just makes the reel handle much smoother to use, and the drag lets line out so much smoother.I think they retail for at the very cheapest around the $280 mark (the box has $339 on it) but the extra tuning cost $80 and you are looking at around $50 for the braid....As I said happy to negotiate...
  15. I have a near new Daiwa Sol 2000 (or may be 2500) in box with spare spool I am looking at selling if you are interested. It has recently been serviced and has upgraded bearings (cost around $80) in the spool and been super tuned making it super smooth to use. Both spools have light braid on them - I think the spare spool has 3lb and the spool on the reel 2lb.....Would be happy to let it go for $250... Email me at nathan.williams@appleyard.net.au or PM me here. Happy to negotiate...
  16. I am voting BOB... reckons it would be the closest to a carp pattern which is what I would be most keen on for the Murray!

  19. Hey Guys,I had the great pleasure of spending a week prior to Xmas with one of our country's leading cod lure manufactures Jamie Harris from JD Lures. While the main aim of the trip was to put me onto some tassie trout (successfully) we also spent some time in his workshop and I thought some may be interested in the photos I took. The workshop as it was when we walked in - a load of lures just needing hooks ready to go off to a store..... Jamie then showed me through the process of painting up a few lures. He got out 5 of his 85mm Super Bugs and did some Phantoms...Applying the pink under coat.
  20. Great round... was always going to be a make or break round this one!!
  21. I would recommend the same reel as reelin, and match it up with a Snyder Glas rod.... can't go wrong in my opinon!! MT Fish Striker 8144....
  22. Awesome rods the Pinpoints in my opinion. Have used the baitcaster version for years chasing big Murray Cod and they haven't missed a beat - both casting and trolling!!I now use the Spinning versions chasing Bream, etc. down at the Coorong and I think they are awesome. Couldn't fault them!! Am getting two more off Weaver which will mean I now have 4 of them....Especially for the price, you can not go wrong!!
  23. Just gotta get in close to the cliffs mate.... Fish are still there just need to get the lures right in their faces!!
  24. Pretty sure it is still registered at the same website as last year - I got my renew registrations the other day and the S&H tipping comp was still there...
