  2. Have to admitt I REALLY did wonder where u had got to when this thread was a hot topic :-\ :icon_lol:
  3. Thought I'd post a picture of my mincer.Like most started doing it by hand :icon_e_surprised: no not that ..... mincing u dirty sod : :icon_lol:Then a mate decided he'd make me a motorised version and walah this is what he came up with.Whiting heads and tougher frames need to be cut up a bit, but does teh softer stuff easily enough. 8) http://www.fishyorkepeninsula.com/images/attachments/K6F91Lmk__CK_Mincer.JPG[/img]
  4. If ya really have to get married coz I have to agree with GrumpyAlope, save yaself a small fortune and to heck with everyone else
  5. I'll bet he doesnt own a boat ;DNice find Cal, interesting to watch and makes one wonder about the possibilities with correctly & finely tuned tackle. Interestingly though, and I may have missed it, there was no mention of the type of breaking strain of both the lines.
  6. congratulations TykeHope to see a few more like that come your way :icon_cool:Gotta agree with Ranger though. U had better toughen up if u want to keep adding them to catch :icon_lol:
  7. thats coz u didnt get the SHELDONS variety Pescados :icon_lol:In all seriousness though it does raise the question about where to buy your gents. I know it sounds like a huge suck, but........ I have found that the Sheldons gents seem to be of better quality and quantity to those I have bought of other no name types. Its also is a good idea to be buying your gents from places that see a large turn over of stock in my view. This goes a long way to ensuring the quality of what you are buying as well.I have a packet I bought over the New Year break that is still looking and producing the goods as
  8. Mars, not sure if I'm stating the bleed'n obvious here to you but........Keeping your gents in the fridge is the best way, I have found, to prolong their life / usefullnes. They wont last forever and Aarron could possibly give you a better idea of shelf life.If out in the boat / jetty using them it pays to have them out of the sun or even on ice if the day is overly hot. The reason this is, is that the cold slows them down, puts em to sleep even slowing the cycle of their transformation. Well thats how I understand it.
  9. Vince sounds DeliciousHow about u make us up a few and I'll come try em and confirm it ;DNice one. :icon_e_wink:
  10. Interesting point.I can recall redaing an article in a national magazine describing similar things in Pt Phillip Bay. IT WAS A LONG TIME AGO BUT......the jist of the story was how this particular angler would catch some good snapper by targeting these floating cuttlies. Cating unweighted candles or other suitable baits around the floating carcas. I cant recall how it was that boat noise etc didnt put them off but the idea seemed to have merit I think
  11. I remember hearing the same thing when I fished the stones. Reckon if you read some of the old anglers journals from the 60's n 70's they advacate the same thing. Can recall reading the suggestion that because reds are scavangers that rather than putting ya tommies on nice n fresh. That stomping on them will see them produce more readily. My thoughts on the stinky vs fresh is that fresh is best. Even if its only to make your time on the boat more enjoyable, but I'm guessing that a smelly stinky squidhead produces its own berley trail and hence is more readily found.
  12. DittoFlame'n things are as unpredictable as any women I know. :
  13. Thats my bet!The media will only report what will sell papers and will ALWAYS conveniently leave out anything that might balance the arguement. Rather than interview someone who may be knowledgable on the movements of the sharks at this time of year and the threat that each species presents, they interview those who use the beach, have little understanding of what it is they are dealing with and have vested interests in removing sharks and fishers from the same waters they use. : Agreed Fin, but does anyone remember the blue shark spotted and filmed from semie jetty last year? It was shown to
  14. :icon_e_surprised:Christ this shark fishing gig looks bloody expensive :icon_eek:
  15. I say serves u right Tyke. :PU got to go fishing whilst I laboured here at work .hissy.Hope you lobster look improves soon :icon_e_wink:

  17. Right thats it! :icon_e_surprised:Where's my bloody phone :-\Nice one Ash. and again the conditions would have made the day all that more special.Do you ever have a dud day? ;DKeep the footage coming coz I sure as hell look forwrd to em :icon_e_wink:
  18. Way to go matty_g jnr! and top marks to dad as wellMy lad is a similar age. Yet to get him to catch a fish on his own but has caught a few ST's on the troll with some help from dad as well.Is really getting into the whole thing now and is even getting better in the big boat as well.MG, good onya for introducing the youngun so early. I reckon its gotta be a great way to get to know ya son and he to know u, but it will also go a long way to helping them stay healthy I reckon.
  19. Nah I've just watched it again. There is a boat infront of the supposed shark for sure. Thats where the water water is from. The dorsal looks WAY too big to be from a shark I reckon also. Its not legit in my mind :
  20. What a Bleeeed'n idiot!Would have to be a Bloody big shark I think. Then it didnt flinch as it past the two other persons in the water and just as it was coming out of the wash so one could get a better look at it the shot changed. It looks believable in many ways, but then I 8nt so sure :-\
  21. Some nice footage there Luke.So when are you fellas releasing the DVD :icon_lol:Keep em comming as they are always worth a look, but might wanna be a little more descreet about locations :icon_e_wink:
  22. Yobbo, just on ya comments about the starlo stix. Was your source referring to the first darker coloured ones or the later blue ones? I think many have echoed the thoughts of LL that the current crop were a let down compared to the predecesor. In saying that however, I believe the tournament series are are a cut above both again.Like you, I havent used either of them and am only going on what I've heard. Yorkie, best of luck with ya decision making, bet you'll be like a kid in a lollie shop.
  23. Ha ha ha. Rocket, can I send my mother in law fishing with u one day?Actually can ya take the wife too?
