  2. some nice gear there m8, I use mainly my bream rod with plastics for schoolies got my pb on it last night and a snapper squidgy spin for the bigger models. only use lures for mullies because I can never be bothered catching fresh bait and caught plenty more on lures, only got 2 mullies on live and dead bait. both reels are penn applause and the 1500 one I use for schoolies with 6lb fireline and bigger fish withh the 4000 penn with 20lb sunline PE
  3. cheers fpr resizing the pic pescados, brenton, yeah I was pretty lucky to get it and it ran out down deep and tried to bust me off on the drop off like exactly how ya told me and pin point about it a while ago and it didnt bust me off or straightened my trebles, geez I been pretty flukey lately thanks for ya words people
  4. thanks fellas it was just on size and fought pretty good on the bream gear it tried to bust me off on the drop off heres a picsorry for not making the pic bigger no idea how to make it bigger lol
  5. hey fellas just wanted to brag about my first legal mulloway on a hard body which is 2 firsts for me lol anyway I went for a quick bream flick in the lake. for obvious reasons I cant say where but I was using some plastics and they were getting smashed by the small bream so I stuck on an atomic shad hardbody to see if I can get something on a hardbody as its been a while. had a few casts with the hardbody and no action so I headed to one of the beaches to give it a crack, on my second cast on this particular beach my hard body got smashed in the second half of the retrieve as the hard body
  6. outgoing tide in the upper reaches are best
  7. plenty of salmon in the upper reaches of the port atm too fish before noon and your pretty much guranteed a feed, just look for the birds for ya best chances.
  8. if ya using bait, berley up, and fish a half pillie/ fish fillet on a paternoster rig and slowly retrieve it every minute or so. to entie a strike from a flattie, the main thing is keep ya lure on the bottom, and plenty of twitches, look for channel edges, weedlines and holes

    mulloway

right on the beach? just put in the hours you will get em a fair few get caught on those beaches, try maslins but stay away from the white pointers
  10. WINTER SALMON FEVER HAS HIT ME!!!! they were on the chew at pt noarlunga today scored a few 40+ cm fish in a quick half hour fish, the ports going nuts for trouties!
  11. keep ya baits in the gutters, deep or shallow, it doesnt matter mulloway will feed in both, have fresh baits out and be patient, the only thing I cant reccommend doing is being impatient and pulling the pin early, mullies are pretty easy to catch ya just need patience.
  12. can vouch for the berkely dropshot they are great rods I loved mine perfect for casting small lures, at a good price too
  13. I think its because the flatties here in SA dont really hang around the estuaries they prefer reef/ weedy bottom and we dont really have that here in the lake (a few creeks on the Ep produces them) its probably something to do with the type of weed and food abundnace, because I have noticed a lot of them have juvenile blue swimmer crabs in their stomachs.
  14. Those little 'flathead' are not really flathead there flathead gudgeon, the size you see in the lake are about as big as they grow.... top bream tucker too
  15. yeah I will try any fish, never ate these though just heard they are good
  16. gurnard for sure good eating, just dont get spiked
  17. Not a bad idea, they do it in other states so why not here? also when we ring them, the officers never come. It makes me sick how people like this rape the waters, even after being told off!
  18. Not live, but most shops sell frozen bloodworms, work alright on the whiting. Another good backup bait is peeled prawns.
  19. Try digging the worms, a lot cheaper. Theres whiting around semaphore park to grange area at the moment. To be honest all the metro beaches fish very well at the right times.
  20. No problems mate, I am sure I will find someone haha
  21. Got a mt6110 for sale, with an abu 6500 spooled with platypus pink, great salmon rod if you are keen.
  22. But on the other hand... the local bream populations love the mussell beds
  23. Dont think anyone has tried have noticed in sa the bream arent in the same enviroments as the oysters grow in. I used to work on an oyster farm and never saw any bream... plenty of whiting, crabs and rays though.
  24. Have caught mullies on plastics at night, so they definitely work but dunno about bream.
  25. If ya want to give the whitng a go fish near the rowing club at the northern end and just stalk them on the flats havent really tried for bream for a while, chasing mullies now
