  1. Yes Nanman I was away when the Hawks got a whooping, my wife told me on Sunday night when I got home. They did it to us last year too if I remember correctly so it wasn't a real big surprise .As for your questions, I asked the guides whether bones take softies and they said you might get to the odd one or two but definitely not as many as you get on fly. There are huge GT's , Sailfish, Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna, Marlin and all other sorts of Tropical lure munchers to be caught there. 5 Sailfish were caught by one of the guys that fished with me, he was there the week before we arrived and then f
  2. G'day Trihull,Mate I took all my own gear,my custom built rods, my own hand tied flies and all essentials. Nial could arrange some gear for people to use but I think it's best to fish with gear you are familiar with.Cheers Dazz
  3. Thanks guys it was an awesome fishing trip. The people and the scenery were spectacular and the fishing just blew your mind.I had Bonefish break 16lb leader on the take without even time to strip strike, they hit so fast and hard I didn't have a chance to even release the line from my rod hand. Awesome . The Triggerfish would take the fly then try and make it back to their hole in the Staghorn Coral, it was either put the brakes on them or get seriously buried, I lost a heap of them but they are great fun to try and catch. I had one Trigger take me 80 mtrs into the backing and I managed to
  4. Well I'm back and after the plane didn't pick us up last Wednesday, we ended up having to spend an extra 3 days on Kiritimati fishing. Life is hard to take sometimes . Anyway as promised here are some pics of my trip and all I can say is this place is a fishermans paradise. For the trip I caught over 100 Bonefish (lost count), 7 Triggerfish, small GT's, Goatfish, Yellow Snapper and all sorts of reef species. Walking the flats and seeing Bonefish of around 10lb swimming at you in ankle deep water is a sight I will never forget. My best fish was approximately 5.5lb with all the rest averaging
  5. G'day Phil,Whereabouts did you buy this one from mate, looks the goods.Cheers Dazz
  6. Looks like a good day Nick. Glad to see you didn't need to be Choppered out for a change That would have to be the biggest Woolie bugger I have ever seen but by the look of it the fish didn't mind at all.Cheers Dazz
  7. No mate, I've been thinking of thinning out a few from my collection as well. The only problem is, I'll only replace them with more later models Cheers Dazz
  8. Don't know mate, you'll have to ask the missus Cheers Dazz
  9. Took the Women folk for a quick boat ride today to snap a bit of Wildlife. Here is the results.Cheers Dazz
  10. Try the tiniest little baitfish pattern you can find. Something like a size 12 Fuzzel fish.Cheers Dazz
  11. I think a lot of it also comes down to which tackle you use to catch each fish, as some are more demanding than others to pursue.Cheers Dazzp.s. Interesting read though.
  12. Toolondoo is a great spot, especially for just roughing it a bit. You have all of the Grampians to look through which aren't very far away and also Rocklands Ressy just down the road a bit.Toolondoo has also received some really substantial stockings in the last couple of years so would definitely be a the top of the list for me.Cheers Dazz
  13. Thanks guys, the top 2 are for Triggerfish which love Pink and Orange crabs.I reckon the little rock crab will turn up a fish or two as well.Cheers Dazz
  14. Tie your own mate, you've got enough gear now Cheers Dazz
  15. Some more done today for the local Bream population to chew on. Rock crab color should work.Cheers Dazz
  16. Will do Bent. July can't come fast enough , been planning this for nearly 12 months.Cheers Dazz
  17. Thanks guys. Projoe the bodies are EP Fibre X-wrapped on top of the shank. Nippers are just plain old rabbit strips, they are a bit fiddly to tie in under the hook point so expect a few sharp jabs Good luck.Cheers Dazz
  18. Heading off on a Bonefishing trip in July and on the chance of tangling with a Triggerfish on this trip I knocked up a few Crabs to tag along with. Might even throw them at a few Bream over the next few weeks So I've got Crabs and I won't be needing plastic ones Cheers Dazz
  19. Habervision glasses are brilliant. I've been using them for the last 5 years and swear by them. You can buy them from the U.S. or from the link below which is Steve Hoagland at Derek Mckenzies Flyfishing Outfitters. These are Glass lenses as well and for $110.00 including postage they are brilliant. So good I have 5 pairs in different lens colors for different conditions. Hope this helps and I have no association with the seller just a very happy customer.Cheers Dazzhttp://www.derekmckenzie.com.au/Columbia%20Polarized%20Sunglasses.html
  20. No but if the hair is hollow it will float. Come to think of it I don't think horse hair is hollow, I seem to recall it being solid like pig bristle.Cheers Dazz
  21. Evil Minnow Slick rigs, number one go to plastic for me when I fish with them, any other time I use my Prawn flies Slick rigs are also good when you are starting out as you only have to tie them on, other plastics take a bit of practice to get straight on the hook when you are learning. Good luck fella. Cheers Dazz
  22. Neither mate all though it is a bit more abrasive resistant than mono but mainly because it sinks and keeps you in a straight line of pull with the fly.I use mono aswell but only when fishing surface flies as it floats.Cheers Dazz
  23. My Bonefish trip is on July 29th, I'm hanging out for it Still tying bonefish flies so that's keeping me busy.Glad your all sorted out.Cheers Dazz
