  1. Theres bream in the creek near the jetty, not sure about the beaches though, as i've only fished the creek.
  2. Sunline super PE,casts awesome and is only 30 bucks a spool, It is also really supple/silky and doesn't twist as much as other braids.NickD
  3. I was always told that rubbing the wound on the belly of the flathead stops bleeding an alleviates pain, any way, It's pretty damn hard to get spiked unless you step on one.The spines are just behind the eye sort of area near the gills, they're pretty hard to see but if you handle them with care you wont get spiked.NickD
  4. The catana/sienna combo would be perfect for what you intend to do, I reckon go the 2500 size, as it will allow for better casting distance (in general). Load the combo up with some decent braid (sunline super pe is a good one for the price), and you'll be Laughing! NickD
  5. Cheers mate, What size reel do you have? because I've got a 2000 daiwa and was thinking 8lb cos I've got lighter braid on the other spool.NickD'
  6. Hey Lads,I was just wondering whether anyone is using Power pro Bite motion? I heard that regular power pro breaks well above it's supposed breaking strain, can the same be said for bite motion? I am asking because I am considering spooling a spare spool of this stuff for targeting slightly larger fish. Cheers NickD
  7. Forgot to add that they catch almost anything
  8. The Duel aile magnet minnow is probably my favourite and best lure in my oppinion.http://www.duel.co.jp/english/products/lineup/d_aile/am_diet_f/index.htmlNickD
  9. hey mate,Im pretty sure the weight has to do with the weight of the first 12 or 15 metres of line. (eg 160 grams might be a 7 weight or something)What i do know is the choice of line, rod and reel weight isnt much to do with target species, more, the size of flies used, thus if you were targeting carp, choose a rod that best suits the actual flies you will use. 10. sorry lads didnt mean to post this, my mate got to my computer haha
  11. its looks like sungabe to me now if you look at it cheers
  12. Blue throats are pretty decent on the plate when fresh, although they can be quite soft fleshed.
  13. Hard to tell by that picture but my first thought was a Congolli, they can live in salt and freshwater and can be found in the drains and lakes in the south east.http://nrmeducation.net.au/uploads/images/Gallery/EwN-Fish/Congolli.jpgNickD
  14. Duel Aile mangnet minnows work really well on smaller salmon and a range of other species.http://www.duel.co.jp/english/products/lineup/d_aile/am_diet_f/index.htmlNickD
  15. It should work, I've caught whiting on A tiny bit of flesh off a KGW frame NickD
  16. They haven't got a price yet because they aren't being sold yet I just saw them today, but i'm guessing they'll be up around a stella's price tag. because the other vanquish is about 500 bucks.
  17. What about the new shimano vanquish limited edition when it comes out blingy as hell and 2500 is only 185 grams!http://www.plat.co.jp/shop/catalog/product_info/language/en/products_id/19451/cPath/21_39_41_2420/saltwater-fishing/vanquish-limited-edition-2500hgs.html
  18. Any idea how to get the pics to work?
  19. Went down to second valley today for a quick flick, the fishing wasn't red hot so I fell back on taking photoshttp://s1318.photobucket.com/user/nickd97/media/IMG_7730_zps207376c5.jpg.html?sort=3&o=3http://s1318.photobucket.com/user/nickd97/media/IMG_7718_zps156b1bff.jpg.html?sort=3&o=5http://s1318.photobucket.com/user/nickd97/media/IMG_7734_zps45bb349b.jpg.html?sort=3&o=2http://s1318.photobucket.com/user/nickd97/media/IMG_7740_zps6710c41e.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0http://s1318.photobucket.com/user/nickd97/media/IMG_7738_zps8952ddb1.jpg.html?sort=3&o=1http://s1318.photobucket.com/u

  21. I was just down there today and yesterday, and we managed to get a good feed of tommies, red mullet, sweep, squid aswell as leather jackets all from the jetty, also dropped a decent snook on a soft plastic. We fished cockles and squid on whiting rigs aswell as flicking soft plastics, berley seemed to help with catching the tommies alot aswell as just before high tide. It may also be worth having a big rod out with a whole (small) tommy although it could end up getting taken by a ray.
  22. The new bloodworm is very similar to the lava coloured squidgies and seems to work well for flatties and ST's but I think the old bloodworm colour was more versatile to be honest. Speaking of melting Zmans, I bought a brand new pack of them and they all melted in a clump before I even got to use them and the day wasnt overly hot. they also ruin every other brand plastic if stored in the same compartment, they even bleed colours when they're next to eachother in a NON- wormproof box NickD
  23. G'dayRecently I've been targeting bream alot mostly on Soft plastics and am finding it pretty easy, but when I try hardbodies I rarely even get a touch, I have caught bream on hardbodies before, but cant fish them confidently. I normally use a slow roll (so the lure is just wiggling) with a few pauses, Is this the best retrieve? I've used ecogear sx48's, rmg scorpions, daiwa double clutches (both sizes),atomic cranks and shads and many others, so far I've only had luck on the atomic shads. I know all these lures are proven catchers, but what colours are best for bream?CheersNickD
  24. I use Sunline super PE in 6lb, it's not much more expensive than fireline and is super thin and smooth so it casts well. I also use 4lb rovex flourocarbon as leader, I find that I get more hits the lighter the leader, and never seem to struggle to pull in big bream.
