  1. That would be a very nice message sent out to the rest of the worlds super trawlers Tb!In 2000, the State of South Australia announced its intention to privatise the South Australian Ports Corporation. Following a competitive bid process, Flinders Ports Pty Ltd ('Flinders Ports') was announced as the preferred bidder and the acquisition of the business was completed on 2 November 2001.In addition to the acquisition of the port infrastructure, Flinders Ports also acquired a 99-year land lease and port operating license for the Port of Adelaide and the six regional ports of Port Lincoln, Port Pirie, Port Giles, Klein Point, Thevenard and Wallaroo.Following the acquisition, the new owners have a major commitment to the on-going development of the existing trades utilising the ports in addition to attracting new business.Flinders Ports is Quality Assured, and is an Environmentally and OH&S accredited organisation.MissionTo provide port related services and infrastructure to satisfy the needs of the market and to achieve or exceed shareholders' ongoing financial expectations.VisionFlinders Ports will be recognised as the most customer focused and customer responsive port manager in the markets in which we operate. Privately owned it seems, once infrastructure has been sold i think you lose control and dont have as much a big say.

  2. If Seafish Tasmania's quota was rejected (18 000 ton) and instead reduced to 9000 ton maybe this trawler wouldnt have been sent to Australia, could be an easy way for Govt to send it packing back to Europe.Flinders Ports should also not service this vessel, and should not have allowed it to dock in any of its ports. Not sure if state govt owns Flinders ports or who does , but sounds like Paul Caica might not like the look of this vessel in a SA port.

  3. Australian Fisheries Management Authority should take their nets away and issue them with 2 rods per person on board with 3 hooks on each trace and tell them they can go catch the 18 000 ton quota of bait fish with the devices that they have been issued with.On another note , why are Australian soldiers overseas fighting for when we are selling(giving away) our land , farming and fisheries. Bring back all our defence force personel right now please alive!Wonder if the FV Margiris will be fitted with gps and live cameras so we can see real time fishing as to what exactly is getting caught. Know im dreaming , but this is all annoying me ! If our fishery is so good why do we have restrctions, size , bag limits , closed seasons etc for rec fishing since baitfish are part of the same food chain?Makes me sick

  4. It seems this trawler is more welcome in Pt Lincon than anywhere in Tasmania. It appears the tuna industry supports this trawler and imo it could be possible that its now going to be based in Pt Lincon. Cheap tuna feed would be welcome from that industry from what i can gather. In minutes time this will be docking on a Lincon warf.http://www.abc.net.au/am/content/2012/s3579065.htm

  5. The Federal Govt gonna blame the State Govt of Tasmania and visa/virsa' date='it wouldnt suprise me if the ship is probabbly fishing right now anyway on its way here.[/quote']Pretty sure its coming via the African coast it's already plundered' date=' so probably not "worth" doing   :pinch:[/quote']By now i rekon its around WA. maybe even in the bight and it may have already started fishin, would not suprise me . Can it be located atm? It was on the west coast of Africa 25 days ago (Ivory Coast) If its not fishing yet its probably locating & assesing the shoals of fish in Federal waters that it wants to target , dont you think?
  6. Bit sad to hear that Ranger,( wish u well and happiness in your new endevors) but i have noticed i too fish bugger all these last few years , i think its the lazyness and pc that have contributed to the slackness in fishing, politics too, all the little factors contribute just like when ur fishing .Between family stuff , work , motivation, and trying to arrange to go fish with a buddy or 2 seems to be impossible these days to get out there and im talkin landbased. Hopefully i will get to fish more than 12 times this summer. If the rules allow that is !

  7. I agree with you damien, ive fished less than 100 hrs in 2 years i would say as a landbased fisherperson, most of my fishing is or was done during daylight hrs as i work night shift. Between finding the time , motivation, the regulations along the metro coastline hook sizes has put me off , but the urge is building and in a few weeks i will hope to put a few hrs in of some metro jettys n beaches, to test the regulations and annoy the natives.

  8. JUST GREAT to hear that a super trawler is allowed to fish off Australias coastline! Now why should i comply with any Australian fishing regulation , will they have bag limits or size limits the same as me? It seems if you comply and do the right thing you just get slapped in the face with a wet fish. What smart ministers we have!!! Anyone of us can surley do a much better job, seriously!

  9. Nostimini is pretty good all round spice for fish and meat, Specialty Foods also have another spice mixture that burleys me up , its dynomite on chicken , lamb and recently had some on some shark fillet , bloody magnificent. Gonna try it on snapper soon when i catch another.Im sure its gonna be killa.

  10. Have a look on Alan Tani's site about magging ,but really i rekon you should be able to thumb the spool when your casting. Also correctly adjusting the tension on the spool and using the right amount of weight(sinker) are key .I have a longbeach 68 , can easily cast over 60 meters. The drags on lonbeaches arnt the best ,same as penn squidders.
