Just a basic question.I'm wanting to change hooks on some of my hard lures - such as the Sluck Whitebait.Seems to be the usual "spring thing" attachment. How the hell do you change em' on your own??There must be a knack to it.Changed one the other day on my mate's boat but that took 2 of us.Any advice appreciated.Hopefully get them changed and then won't lose big Snook as I get them to the side of the boat

If a NSW tag has been used here in SA it seems rather silly to me.

Cheers Fishie.Trust us to catch a one off.

Just a word to keep your eyes peeled boys and girls. One of the Snaps we pulled in had a tag on it.Not a very visible tag either as it was pink which does not stand out on a red/pink fish.Turns out it came through the NSW tagging program - yep they travel that far!Have a look at the site here......http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/recreational/saltwater/gamefish-tagging#What-to-do-if-you-catch-a-tagged-fish

Top stuff Fush,So it was a calm night out there ?,it was was blowing here on the hills.I personally think you have to try a mixture of baits.I took the big Snap out with a Snook head.Sometimes it can be stinky squid heads.Just keep trying until one hits.

@Nev - heard of sinkers at dawn and that crap. Just bloody stupid!I've seen a rec and pro fisher scramble for a spot - nearly collided and a few words were exchanged - ( left balnk - shove own expletive in!)

Woohoo!!!I went out on my first solo Snapper trip yesterday, took along a Pom that has only been here a few weeks for the experience.I've had quite a mentor over this last 12 months and it was time to go out and have a go myself - with the blessing of my mentor Out on the water for 5.30 to a wonderful sea.A fairly uneventful trip but the longest single one I've done.Anchored up on the spot and got the lines out.It only took 10 minutes and my Pom companion pulled a 10lb'er out! I told him he was not allowed any more before me or he was swimming home The weather just kept getting better with

I'm not sure if you read this forum but I'd just like to say thank you to the commercial long lining fisherman I met at sea yesterday (19/01/10).I was the Pom in the boat taking his mate out fishing for the first time.I must admit I was a little nervous when you approached and identified yourself as a commercial fisherman.I've read stories of some rather unpleasant meeting between recreational fisherman and commercial fisherman. Our meeting could not have been further away from this. You were courteous, identified yourself, gave us the odd tip, welcomed us,ensured we knew where your lines were an

I'm just wondering if any kind peeps care to share advice on crabbing or a newbie.I have three crab nets that I can take out on the boat.Is it just a case of finding a "likely" spot - shoving the nets in with a fish head tied in??It's certainly something that will get the missus out in the boat.We foul hooked a few Blueys last year and have the taste.A couple of people have said don't fish and crab at the same time??Any tips appreciated
