  3. they're a bit quiet at the moment due to the cold weather.any of the local beaches should be allright, but........the weather will have a fair bit to say about that.you'll probably also get some salmon trout from the beaches, if you're beach or jetty fishing.look for the more 'calmer' beaches, that have nice big sandy bottoms and weedy areas nearby.they dont have to be very deep areas (between 2 to 6 feet deep).good baits are;cockles, prawns/nippers, worms.try small beach rods with 8 to 12 lb line, small star sinkers if its nice and calm, medium star sinkers if its rougher/windy, size 6 to 4 (
  4. bream.either bait or lures.good fighters, and very cunning.anything else is a bonus. salmon trout just annoy me, but they are good when nothing else is around.
  5. either a strike pro pigmy, or bushy's fatty.but that's just coz I like chasing bream.
  6. carpet = pros = nice on your feetcons = my lures keep getting stuck in it. :silly: can be laid with contact adheisive, but is a bit permenant.

  10. awesome.thanks for that.gonna give it a try.
  11. anyone here use small crabs on hooks to catch bream?if so, whats a good size crab/hook combo?
  12. try some 40mm (or there abouts) mid depth diving minnows or similar, with a medium speed retrieval.if they bite but not hook up, let it sit for 1 second, and start again.but this may not work out every day.so far i've had god success with orange sides and a dark top, or a pale clear side with a green top colour range.the strike pro bream tour 4gram hard bodies seem ok.make sure they have good trebles.one fish bent a hook, another fish bent another hook (on a cheap lure).the lure colour was perfect, but it had cheap trebles.the only problem with the 40mm hardbodies is that the fish occasionally
  13. good vid alex.when's your next vid?I was there this weekend, Saturday & sunday arvo'sthe salmon were going crazy. In just over 1 hr I had caught my limit on Saturday, and they were all over 30cm, with many almost 35cm. it was good fun on light tackle. never seen it quite like that, but I rarely get to the jetties much.was using hard body lures.they'll be tea for the parent this week.
  14. haven't done much handlining b4.might give it a go. i fish a couple of spots when in a boat and it would be ideal.bit more room in the boat too.
  15. bummer.they look the goods.
  16. Hi all,i did a quick search but found nothing, so i ask the question;has anybody used, or have the cranka crab lures yet?if so, how did they perform?cheers.Gav.

  18. is lure fishing (bream etc)just as effective at night time in the dark?
  19. on the tv, it would be "I-Fish".on the net it would be "Fishing the Edge".between the tv and the internet there's quite a lot to watch nowadays.
  20. thanks, i'll give 'em a go. :boot:at the moment i'm running 6lb fluro only, all the way.is that still ok, compared to running braid, then a leader?
  21. does scent on lures make much difference?any scents/brands work better than others?
  22. Hi all,new to site (and luring)so i appoligise if its bean asked before but;what is everyones favourite soft plastics for bream in the port river?i only catch and release my fish.thanks in advance.Gav.
  23. ohkey dohkey,i'll stock up on a couple more blades then and give them a bit more of a try.i was doing what was suggested, but might have been a bit too fast/deliberate with them.caught a few bream on hard bodies recently by being gentle with them (slow-ish).so far it seems like lure fishing is very addictive.
  24. thanks Piranha.i'll try them.
