shimano symetre fj 2500 or 3000.need advice!

Hi Guy i am thinking of buying the shimano symetre fj 2500 or 3000. Is it a good reel? thanks for ya help!

Mate I have the 3000FJ and it is as sweet as.For an almost budget reel, you cant do much better.Its as smooth as a baby's backside when winding.I love mine...you wont be dissapointed.

Yeah I was lucky enough to win mine via an online comp, but after owning one (and Im normally a DAIWA man), found it to be way better than expected - especially at the price point that it sells for.for $139 I believe it is the quality of some Daiwa reels that sell for $250-300. The only thing I find with Shimano reels is that they have thin bail arms and I prefer the air bails that Daiwa fit as standard on mid price point reels these days. But once I got used the thin bail arm there has been no looking back.So for around the 140 mark (should be able to purchase online or from Ray & Annes for around that), you will have a reel that I think performs just as good as some $200 plus reels IMO.

They have the 2500 fj for $130 dollars at bcf at the moment. Looking at getting it in a bout a month or so.also thinking of getting to 4000fj at a later date

Well that is a super pick up.Cant go wrong with a 2500 for smaller stuff like, bream, trout and salmon trout and then a 4000 for snapper fishing from the boat or jetties, some surf fishing if you had a beach rod etc.

Thats what i was thinking both of them would cover a broad range of fishing

Ive got the 1000 size Symetre and love it, Ive caught some really nice fish on it. As UHF said it's smooth and you can't go wrong with it. This reel is my ultralight reel though, spooled up with 2Ib line on a 1-3KG rod. I would reccomend a 2500 size reel as that can cover a much broader range of uses, You can spool that up with heavier line and use it on a heavier rod.

Hahaha Uwain get the 2500 fella! Will cover almost all of your fishing you're likely to do I started off with a 3000 but considering the size of fish i've caught on my 2500 it's just not needed! A lot more comfortable when you're flicking lures all day

i got the 1500 i like it its not bad its been thrashed in both ad salt.. only thing is the 1500 size is the equivilent size of some of the bigger reels that i have that are like 2000-2500 sizes s its a bit bigger body than usual but... yeh.. good budget reel..

i have the symetre 2500 only really use it for squid and stuff sort of a thrash around reel lol haha but smooth as i like it u wont be dissapointed cheers tp

I've got a 3000 and I love it, so much so that I'm going to buy a 2500 as well. They're actually the same exact reel body with different sized spools, the 3000 is perfect for 8lb braid and the 2500 for 6lb braid.

I had one 2500 that lasted 3 months,,drag crapped out,, found you need to spend over $250 in the shimano range to get a quality reel that lasts.

ive got symetre 1000 and a 4000 and use them both on my soft plastic rods. Brilliant reels can not fault them
