statesquider 0
I'm interested in what everyone does if they take two rods out on the rocks. Occasionally you can find a crevise to shove a pvc tube in but this rarely works for me.Now that I own decent rods and reels I can't bring myself to throw it around on the rocks and scratch it up.I now only take one rod out with me but i'd prefer to take two but you can only hold one :(Anyone willing to share how they do it?Any suggestions greatly appreciated
Jimmy. 173
i use pvc pipe and find a place to hold it out build my own mound too
urhookedfish 12
I just sit mine in the gaps between the rocks. Hasnt caused me any grief yet.Even though I use medium range gear for the rocks, I still expect that its going to get the odd bit of wear, ie a few nicks here and there and that the foam is going to cop gauges from the rocks.ie ive adopted the mindset that these rods are not going to get away scott free and remain in near perfect condition like my boat rods. I guess thats why I only use a reel worth around $150-200 clams.
fridge 6
dunno matemaybe try some aeroflex, that black pipe insulation stuff, over your butt and make a sock for your reel.my biggest concern is letting braid touch the rocks statesquider and Dan C

Ugly4Life 41
I'm horrible with mine. As far as useablilty goes they are in fantastic condition (well maintained, cleaned after every session etc) but to look at they're horrible. Scratched up, nicks out of the butt etc. I think that if your rods/reels are in pristine condition you're not fishing hard enough. Landbased_Angler

statesquider 0
a rod holder zip tied to the side of a 20L bucket would do the job wouldn't it?think i saw an ad recently for a metal one that sits over the rim of a bucketBut come to think of it I rather have less to carry in. I have a habit of nasty stacks on the rocks
fridge 6
spose if youve got regular spots,id take a hammer drill or the like put a couple of 10mm holes in the rocks, bit of 8mm or 10mm rod welded to a small holder and youd be set urhookedfish
statesquider 0
haha i've seen spots where people have actually done that! As well as making flat spots to sit and fish with concrete.
fridge 6
dunno urhookedfish,my experience with stone or rock is that its generally harder than concrete.percussion battery drill should do the job nicely, and maybe a grinder for a couple of flat spots to rest your cc & cola urhookedfish

Moggy23 625
We took our own mini rocket launcher, welded plates on the legs and jammed rocks on them. Then sat back, drank piss and talked about the big reds that we were going to catch of the Lowely Rocks. Landbased_Angler

Jimmy. 173
haha we can always dodgy your rod holder up and get you swimming again if you really want!anyway back on topic. PVC pipe is the way to go and build your own base to support it from rocks there
Ranger 48
Thinking back to when I used to fish from the rocks, I cant say that I ever had any problems finding a crevice or hole to support my rod.For the protection of the reel if necessary, an old cloth/hand towel can always be placed between it and the rock.Walking on the rocks I always like to limit the amount of gear I carry.
