chadwick97 0
hi guys,i am looking for a new outfit. i don't really want to spend more than $300. what i am really looking for in a rod is that it is 7' long, 1-3kg or lighter, split butt, hard EVA grips, slow to moderate action (very flicky but not sloppy), quality guides for braid, and is a one piece. i will almost exclusively be using it for casting weightless topwater lures for whiting on flats and tiny cranks for bream. i have been looking at a Daiwa tournament speacialist bream and a i am thinking of matching it up with a shimano sustain or rarenium, both 1000 size and spooled with 2lb braid. all comments welcome on reels and line aswell.cheers, chad
brenton 637
I'd have a look at the Rapala Tspec combined with a Ci4 which is lighter than the rareium. It would be more like 350 though cheers brenton
chadwick97 0
thanks for the reply, the t spec looks great but they don't make them with a line class lower than 2-4 kg. i want to go as light as possible. i don't mind going over $300 for the combo, it's just the rod that i dont want to spend heaps on. chadwick97 0
southie,i picked one of those up at a local tacklestore the other day, it is a very nice rod, but i thought it was a bit heavy. i don't know if thats just me but personally i would only by that in a much heavier line class. thanks for the suggestion tho. sa_on_patrol 0
What about the shimano jewel 721 with a symetre 1000flI'm looking at getting something like this for lure flicking
chadwick97 0
hahaha southie mate, must just be me muscles. those generations black rods do look nice. do you know a good dealer with a good range of daiwa rods? i really want to have a closer look and feel before i buy anything. grego, i do have flats in mind so perhaps something longer than 7' will be the go. patrol, jewels are great rods especially for plastics fishing, match it up with a 1000 and youv'e got yourself a great little combo. sa_on_patrol 0
In the latest BCF catalogue they have a Shimano Elf reel and Raider mex fire rod for $250. That looks like a rippa of a deal??? Has anyone used the Elf reels?
Yakmando 49
I would probabily second that Southie. The Gen black versitile 1-3lb would be perfect.
