  1. This was another of my late season spin sessions in a small tannin stream & it was great to come across a freshwater lobster. They were once plentiful in the rivers/streams here in Tasmania but due to very little catch rate restrictions they became scarce in the rivers/streams. Now they are a protected species that carry a $10,000 fine if taken from a river/stream. cheers Adrian (meppstas)

Really appreciate the tips guys! I haven't managed many trips but just came back from a couple days away at Port Julia on the Yorkes. Managed 3 squid although the tides weren't great. Tried the paternoster rig but tide was so low kept snagging on the weed bed - got the 3 all on slow retrieves. Planning another trip for Rapid bay next month so keen to try the rig again. Cheers!

  3. I have well ova 100 squid jags from free to $30 and have caught them on cheap ones to dear ones but I do have about 5 of my go to. Jags and if used with the technique I wrote up under squid then it don't matter if it a cheap one or a dear one as long as it's right colour as the sink rates don't apply Cheers and share the ink

  4. Me too. Cheaper the better. Still get squid. Nothing beats a tommie on a skewer jag if all else fails.
