  1. I don't know the full in's and out's of cameras but you'd want to consider a camera with a CMOS sensor these work better in low light conditions compared to a camera with a CCD sensor. Also a camera with a wider aperture should help low light photos as the wider the aperture the more light the lense takes in.I'm not going to suggest a brand as there are quite a few good cameras out there but here's a site I found that compares cameras pro's and con's when you narrow down your search, good for seeing the difference between Camera A and B www.snapsort.com

  2. Just thought I'd let people know that a bunch of us entered a competition on Facebook to win sponsorship / be a product tester from WildBait - hand made lures.More fishos entered than were expected so a smaller package was organised and given out to more who entered. A few of us from Strike and Hook won.Congratulations to Uhf and Jewie who were 2 of the 3 SA winners, the other being myself. I must have made up a pretty good story to score the lures :clap: I can't wait to put the lures to the test, perhaps they will help me land a decent trout to show off in the North Vs South trout thread. Thanks to Peter from WildBait for giving us the opportunity to try out the WildBait lures.WildBait are trying to get their name out and around the place to please visit their website at www.wildbait.com and their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/wildbaitwildbait-lures.jpg

Some people leave their bail arm open then when they get a bite flick the bail arm closed then strike and wind. That might give you a bit of a bait runner effect.

I know I personally use that Technique especially for unweighted Bream baits next to structure Pontoons etc.A Bait Running technique I use though. Is to back the Drag right off the Reel so there is no resistance and then as the Fish takes the Bait. Lock up Drag and set the Hook. Hope this helps cheers TT
Would definitely use this technique over leaving the bail arm open.As the fish swims off you will hear the drag and then it is just a matter of turning it up to fighting drag strength. Then you don't have to clamp the bail down with line racing away at a million miles
Gotta admit, I'd be doing it this way too, not real hard to tighten up the drag as you go. When you get a decent run you can hold your reel so it slows taking line to set the hook if you need to, then worry about tightening the drag.
  4. Howdy, I've had my Baitrunner for about a year and a bit I think now with it only really getting a workout for the past months or so and have found that when clicked into baitrunner mode there is now no ratchet clicking sound coming from the reel, still works fine just no clicking.Thought I'd see if anyone might know why this might be happening, I try to look after it as best I can, cleaning after every use, I try not to dunk in salt water or get sand all over it.Not sure if I should go the service by a "Shimano approved service centre" or to try a warranty claim or just live with it.Any ideas or suggestionsCheers

  5. Cheers guys, I try to remain calm at all times even if on the way home I reminisced and let out a few girly giggles :lol:I know it was a bit of luck for me on the day but a lot of Big Red and Uhf's knowledge that got me my first red monsters. Without those guys I would have caught ziltch! Thanks again fellas.

  6. Had the opportunity to go for a fish the other morning with Big Red and Urhookedfish, I jumped at the chance to get out in a boat again. This session we were going to target Snapper, can't imagine BR and UHF going for anything else :laugh:Hit the ramp at 4am and headed out, on the way out I started seeing little glowing things in the what wash of the boat, I said "Hey Brett there's a lot of lice around!" Brett's response was something along the lines of "ahhh :c "Got to the drop, I was actually feeling a little green and slipped a Kwell, didn't say anything to the guys, had to act tough B) and out went our lines. No bites, hmm weird, reel in the bait has been disintegrated. :c :c :c :c :c BR moved the boat into a better position and we tried again. From this point on my recollection of events get's a little hazy, so order of things is probably a bit out of whack.BR and Uhf had gotten bites and been snapped off, I sat there not expecting much and if I did get a bite, thought it would be rugger, if I was lucky. My rod loaded up, I thought Ooohhh crap my rig has moved and I'm snagged, I started to reel a bit, hmmm not snagged BANG BANG, I'M ON!!! :woohoo: Reeling in nearly ripping my arms off, Uhf loosened my drag a touch, Bang bang ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz wind, wind, wind zzz, zzz, zzz, started to see colour, then it was netted. Wow I just landed my first legal red, it measured 96cm :woohoo:  later on it weighed in at 9.1kg I must say I am pretty damn happy with my first red.WP_000396.jpgNow a quote from Uhf... "Uhf and Big Red dicked around missing runs and tangling each other until finally getting their shite together"Big Red landed a very nice stonker, his first metro Red, well done mate  followed by another by me :woohoo: couldn't believe I'd caught another. by this stage as happy as Uhf was for me and Big Red, I reckon he would have been a little irritated. Zzz Zzz Zzz, he's on... oh what a nice 20cm specimen it was   We fished on with guess who hook up to another awesome fish :woohoo: I couldn't believe the power these monsters had, very impressive!Uhf catching another fine 20cm specimen  , then BAM BAM! Finally Uhf hooked up or "started to pull his weight" as Big Red said  pulling in a great fish :clap:WP_000403.jpgAt one point I watched Uhf's T-Curve almost bend in half, he ran to grab his rod which was well and truly stuck in the rod holder, he grabbed it out and started a more casual retrieve, landing once again a very nice fish.WP_000407.jpgWP_000416.jpgAll fish were measured and a bunch of them tagged and released, very cool to see a fish that big swim off to see another day.WP_000419.jpgNow that the sun was up the Snapper had slowed and we went after a couple of Maks, we weren't too concerned if we didn't catch anything we were quite content with our mornings haul.We headed back in and transferred a couple of the Snapper we kept into my esky  as a guy drove past he yelled out, "Ya gonna need a bigger esky boys!"WP_000424.jpgI must say a big thank you to Big Red and Uhf for inviting me to come along. I had a great time and am now severely addicted to Snapper fishing.WP_000425.jpgI'll finish with a video with a few of our catches and releases. I have to issue a strong language warning due to mainly Uhf's potty mouth
