  1. You'll love the change mate I've converted all of my reels to braid and don't know why i didn't do it sooner! Bloody awesome stuff even if you use the cheap braid (have now changed all mine to decent braid now as I've found it's even better again)
  2. I'm headed over to Venus Bay to smash KG's (and everything else) for 9 days in July and wouldn't mind picking up a few Razorfish for burley whilst i'm in the general area.I had a quick search and couldn't come up with anything but I'd rather collect them down there so I don't have to cart them down from Adelaide. Can anyone offer any suggestions where I may come across a few? Feel free to PM if you wish, as anything that I receive via PM i class as confidential and do not discuss with anyone. I don't want to clean an area out, just maybe 20 odd?Cheers if anyone can offer any assistanceSquid
  3. Cheers for the video too! Was cool to see what it all looks like down there
  4. I know a few blokes who dive and they just grab all the anchors they find and sell them off Great way to pay for more gear!
  5. Just checked my copy and all was as it should be. Must have got a very bunged up copy...
  6. Great looking photo mate Awesome colours on the squidly! How big was the tube? Hard to tell as you're standing on an angle holding it close to the camera.Haven't caught a nice squid like that in a while! Would have got a bloody good feed off that or half a million whiting baits ;)Squid
  7. Does anyone have any idea how far we are away from a new mag? Has to be any day now I would have thought...
  8. Just had my 5 year anniversary with the missus. She is well aware there is not much else i think about when it comes to fishing I think she has learnt over time that if i want to go fishing i'm probably going to do it but i am just as flexible when she wants to do something she likes. Although at the end of the day i would be just as happy fishing with my missus or a mate. The only reason i'd ever choose not to fish with her is if i knew she would want to bail early into a session..She's good fun to hang out with thoughSquid
  9. Mate i love the molds! Some of them look stunning Definitely going to get my mitts on some!I'm pretty sure Shane Murton's (Editor of wildcoast) dad is a taxidermist. Has ads in the magazine I think..I'm so keen on getting some done! Were these fish you caught yourself or did you just buy them? Love the KG and the flatty
  10. I started by spiking my fish when i was spearfishing as a way of dispatching fish without filling the water with blood. I bought a specific iki jime tool for the job but a sharpened screwdriver would be almost identical. I started doing it in the torrens for carp as they are bloody hard things to kill at times without getting too messy. When you get the hang of it it becomes a bloody quick way of instantly killing fish Squid
  11. The place had already been pretty well cleaned out but 5 weeks ago when i was last in there i had most of the fishing books. Luckily the missus suggested going into town the other day as the books i bought weren't on the shelf last time i was there. Can't remember exactly but there on Monday but there was a general book on fishing, a few books on fly fishing, another knot book like i bought plus maybe 3 or 4 other random fishing books. Could be worth a look if you are keen because they will be even cheaper now....5 weeks ago they had everything 40% off and when i went in the other day it was 50
  12. I thought i'd hit up Borders as they are closing down so books are 50-70% off plus another 10% off the final price.Walked away with...1) Rockfishing Secrets and Ocean Safety $9 (was $20) I've only had a quick flick through it but it seems like an interesting book with a few tips in it that i should find helpful. It has many chapters on reading the water, dealing with dangerous situations and heaps of general fishing info all related to rock fishing.2) Geoff Wilson's Fishing Knots and Rigs + DVD $15 (was $33) I own an old smaller copy of a knot book by Geoff Wilson but this new book is bloody a
  13. useless comment abelama...I know how to tie knots...I have books on knots...I know how to use youtube...I have friends that fish that also know how to tie knots...The benefits of asking a question on here is that you get a good variation of answers and people can answer a very specific question based off their personal experiences. Try typing in my question into youtube and see if you get anything like all of the responses so far.To everyone else thanks heaps again for your responses, bloody useful info there!
  14. Hahaha Uwain get the 2500 fella! Will cover almost all of your fishing you're likely to do I started off with a 3000 but considering the size of fish i've caught on my 2500 it's just not needed! A lot more comfortable when you're flicking lures all day
  15. Nice kingy! Is there a story behind him?Keen to read
  16. My mates were caming at yorkes last year and they had a rod, chair and their esky full of food pinched in the middle of the night while they were sleeping.Cheers for the heads up though! I will make sure to check my mates trailer from now on. Can't believe people would seriously be that irresponsible! Not only have they damaged someones property but they could have killed someone...
  17. Cheers for the thoughts lads :)I'll take all of this into account and work out a new system for myself that works better for me!Thanks again for the suggestionsSquid
  18. yeah i reckon something like that is the go! But i want more than 40%! Need to flick through a few magazines I'd like something closer to 70% to get the most out of the total breaking strain. On the right track though!Cheers
  19. The knots were always fine with my old braid but the new stuff cuts through the leader The strength of the knots are both VERY strong but the uni to uni is weaker than the lure connection. I'll give the reverse albright a crack
  20. Ever since i changed to sunline 8lb braid 3 out of every 5 bustoffs are at the knot between the leader and my braid. I always use uni to uni knots for the connection with 6 wraps in the leader and 10 wraps in the braid and I use a uni knot to a lure or a swivel generally. My leader is nitlon 8lb or 10lb fluorocarbon. Losing lures to snags is inevitable but I'm sick of having to tie a new leader ALL the time.Any tips Lads? The only thing I can think of is maybe less wraps in the uni knot to my lure/swivel...Cheers
  21. Awesome! And I live just around the corner!
  22. I'm in and have no probs with emails they just remind me i need more toys!Cheers
  23. I don't understand why people do this... No one is ever going to help this bloke if he ever makes a serious post now, myself included. Can this idiot just make another account if he is banned or is the IP address blocked?
