  1. I think that Brown Trout is an Atlantic Salmon. Check out the tail.
  2. That 0.843kg fish was caught by a bloke called Rex Donnithorn at Brown's Beach in the 70s. It was during a Western Districts club comp. Someone at the weigh in pointed out that it was a Tommy Rough and not a salmon.
  3. Got a few 1KG sized Salmon in the Chapman River, chasing Bream over on K.I., when the mouth was closed. It was great fun on soft plastics. Almost like Barra fishing.
  4. Evidence of confirmed Bronze Whaler attack please.
  5. It wouldn't be much fun in 6 feet of water if the Dolphin thought YOU were his bitch.LOL
  6. Bronze Whalers are unfairly becoming the Grey Nurse of the new millennium. It is a well known fact that they do not eat human beings,FULL STOP. Talk to any pro shark fisher and he or she will tell you that Bronzies will not accept a red meat or poultry bait even in a feeding frenzy. You have a better chance of being mugged and raped by a Dolphin. Sensationalist journalism at its best.
  7. Dumping of tons of concentrated brine + dodge tides = not good,no matter how you look at it.
  8. That's about as clos as I'd want to get.
  9. The pro's used to hammer spawning Snapper in very shallow water at Pt Wakefield, back in the 60s and 70s.
  10. What a bunch of morons.
  11. The pro's continue to rape the Younghusband peninsular to satisfy the Yuppie restaurant's interstate. The bag limit has already been halved for amateurs and the prices have skyrocketed.Who are the scapegoats here? Welcome to Australia."The Land of the Banned".End of rant.
  12. I've caught all sorts on plain dragless Alveys, including big Mullies,Snapper,Sharks,Rays and even Spanish Mackeral in W.A. Don't worry about burning your hand.Worry about the spinning handles You will get a feel for the reel after a bit of use,and everything will become second nature.Cheers Phil.
  13. The knob on those models is not a drag. You use the palm of your hand on the spool.Simple but effective.
  14. Got to love the Alvey reels. :cheer: The best heavy duty surf reels on the planet.
  15. What a load of bollocks I would rather see a mega tax on GPS units. The lazy man's way of decimating fish holding areas. , Usually areas others have discovered by doing the hard yards.
  16. These heat wave conditions will prove ideal for the hardy souls who head West chasing big Mullies
  17. Yes fair enough. ;)What is your guess on the weight of Mr Denton's Whaler? I'd say 200kg+ without a doubt.
  18. Dusky Whaler's are a damn site meaner than Bronzies, and give the captor some credit for chrisake!!!The records for local Bronzies are a tad old.
  19. The reason I remain a sceptic is because my good mate Tim Denton landed this shark after a 45 minute fight on a TLD20 3 metre Hammer combo loaded with 15kg Penn mono,at Cabbot's Hole on the Far West coast in front of 6 witnesses including the late Sam Maddonna.Anyone who has fished this place will understand what a magnificent acheivment this was. This fish would swallow any local Bronzie whole. :icon_lol: :icon_lol: http://www.fishyorkepeninsula.com/images/attachments/TFlCfjZ5__Big_Shark.jpg[/img]
  20. Read his first post again. : :
  21. Well "fisherman" Tim,if you regard butchering a Smoothie for bait and dumping the carcass off a jetty as a smart thing to do,you need help. ::)As for threatening a Strikehook member that witnessed your idiocy,I think that says everything about the kind of bloke you really are. >
  22. Saw a 44kg Kingie landed on a 6/0 Senator last August. Not the latest and greatest reel, but still tough and reliable,as are all old American made Penn's.
