  1. fluked one on a squidgy wriggler bloodworm 80mm i think. go hard when using 2lb mono and flicking for redfin.codey caught one on a z man grub in white 2.5" very rare though to get them on sps
  2. carp by far is the best and cheapest crab bait available. get a loaf of bread or tin of corn hit mawson lakes or the torrens and catch what you need. i just cut it into chunks and tie them into the crab net so i can easily throw them away once finished.
  3. attach 30 or 40lb wind on leader to your braid. then have a swivel attached to the end of the wind on. you'll never have knot problems again. you'll only ever have to tie your rig to a swivel. most logical and easiest solution for bait bashing on the bottom. wind on gives all the abrasion resistance you will need and saves you a lot on replacing braid.
  4. check out the tackle store on grand junction road. lay and nannes i think its called. plenty of good deals on there atm.
  5. Alex you weren't using rovex braid mate leader were you by chance?
  6. I was there today at bower road saw 1 schoolie caught on bait. the guy tried to keep it even though it was undersize i went to ring fisheries then he released it after 5 mins of it sitting in his bucket.
  7. hang baits of fish. mullet, st, gar, trumpets, tommys, kgw whatever I could catch at the time.
  8. before the metro ban I was catching 4 footers on 80lb nylon coated wire and single 5/0 circles. short length of 60lb mono leader for stretch and 20lb braid.I think your 10/0s would be plenty big and I'd say nylon coated wire to 200lb and 100lb mono leader.
  9. If you want sharks or rays then yes. just remember it must be legal size and loosen your drag. seen 2 rods go in with live bream as bait due to a tight drag.
  10. excellent entry level sharking combo just in time for the shark season
  11. Fin Nor Biscayne LD25 comes spooled up with 300yards of 20 or 25lb mono backing (berkley or shogun can't remember) this was 2 years ago but was decent enough backing and a top shot of 500-600yards of 80lb pex braid (breaks at over 100lbs according to the paulus website). wind on leader from ray annes 400 or 600lb (not 100% sure) about 6m in length. comes with 2 shark rigs a djp tackle one smaller hook 9/0 200lb wire and a larger one from ray annes 12/0 hook and 400 or 600lb wire. Its about 2 years old but has had minimal use due to shark restrictions its in very good condition. Still have the
  12. them mullet look like an even better feed for several mulloway
  13. I use a trio40s for eagle ray fishing so much fun good reel for the price
  14. I find it more difficult to catch bream than mullys in the lake now I'm not kidding either. just find the baitfish schools and lob out your livie or lures and ones bound to hit it. like king monkey said mono for live baiting is a good choice a lot less tangles. since switching from braid back to mono i've hooked up a lot more then with braid and lost fewer fish, 8-15lb mono is plenty. a schoolie from tonight taken on an unweighted pillie cube intended for bream good fun on a 500 sienna and 3lb braid.
  15. sufix fuse is trash. sufix 832 is awesome braid. I have it in 20lb fire orange for chucking big metals in the surf and 40lb white for bait bashing in the surf. online its about $40 a 300yard spool about double that in tackle stores. casts very good and has great knot strength.
  16. circles and rays don't mix well from my past experiences. I just use a suicide or 2 snelled together depending on bait size. 100lb mono is about 1mm anything thicker becomes hard to tie with.I genernally run 80lb with a 5/0 suicide or 2 4/0s snelled together.
  17. for rays you wont need a windon. your mainline already has plenty of stretch. for sharking i'd use windon though.
  18. I have one for sharking. haven't caught anything apart from smoothies with it though. handles them with ease tho.
  19. breaking strength is more then what is stated. I've locked up many times and never snapped the braid. doing this though makes the braid feel like its been stretch, it goes dry and feels rough, makes it horrible for casting.
  20. I've had no issues with "fake" power pro. If I could afford to I would buy local but I could buy 10 spools online compared to 1 in store here. I just make sure my knots are strong and use a decent leader.
  21. a 2500 reel is pretty big. get a 1000 size imo. makes catching small fish feel big on sp. st, bream, schoolies etc feel so much better you'll enjoy the fight much more. there also more lighter so you can cast for longer and they will still hold 150m of 4-6lb braid.aernos sp 1000aernos 1000 with the eva handleshimano reels are best value for money and i haven't had any issues with them. have had over the years a sienna $45-50, a solstace and aernos sp $60-70 and the new aernos at about $120.solstace 1000sienna 1000
