  1. Ive heard of guys using cork putty and sanding back to fix cracks in cork grips so maybe that would work for you toocheerssnapps
  2. Hey Rick I was lurking in the background and wasnt going to answer your post but then I thought what the heck Im not sure on the official response from the crew on how popular the groups are but my own personal feeling is that they are not the cause of the lack of reports on the site.I think unfortunately there is a growing trend and I might add not just this site but all fishing sites I frequent for posters of reports to get criticized or knocked for what they write.Back in the early days I seriously loved to write about my fishing adventures with my good mate Chuck but over the years I hav
  3. I use whatever I have lying around as long as its around the same diameter. My new Pfleuger came with a rubber insert around the base of the spool thus avoiding the need to use backing, you can go with braid all the way. A nice touch I reckon.cheerssnapps
  4. Sea levels have altered many times over the years remember inland Australia was once under water. The only way sea levels can rise and fall is through the melting or freezing of the Polar caps. This has been occurring since time began. We are also aware that rain forests were once where deserts are now and these things have been occurring since time began and mans influence was negligible.I think you have every right to be concerned at current trains of thought Gaff. Remember back in the late 70's the so called experts were telling us we would be out of oil by the now and we needed to find alte
  5. You could be onto something Gaff, Ive always wondered why the fact that this planets temperatures which have been proven to fluctuate continually throughout time have never been taken into account with this argument. We are all aware of this fact and we all know that this planets climate is under constant changes. I guess the fear factor of finding out in 50 years time that we have stuffed things up and could have saved the situation if we acted now. Plus to then find the changes are irreversible hold us to the feelings we must act now.Im sure however that we all are also aware that some of pra
  6. Del's right you do get them in the upper gulf. When I lived in Pt Broughton I did the occasional trip out on the crab boat and they were a by-catch,not often but they did get em.cheerssnapps
  7. Well done mate I stayed out way too late last night and when the alarm went off I just laughed and went back to sleep.I might head down there this evening and give it a bash if my head clears cheerssnapps
  8. Yeah I will let you know how I go.I gather you fishing the beaches down the northern end of the lake
  9. Gday MickyFrom reading your posts i know you obviously love your surface flies which I can fully understand as it is a great visual form of fishing but I was wondering whether you are trying any sub surface flies to see if these might be more effective. The reason why Im asking is that not only am I thinking it is still a bit early in the season for poppers but Im tossing up whether to drag out the fly gear and have a crack myself tomorrow morning at West Lakes. I havent got any suitable surface flies and can only use clousers, crazy charlies etc. What do you reckon are my chances with these sty
  10. Mate its been a long time since Ive bought a new reel that wasnt a daiwa and I thought long and hard about it. However it just felt so nice and ticked all the boxes I decided that it was worth the risk.Yesterday did nothing to make me regret my decision the reel performed brilliantly and I had the drag cranked up hard but when the lunges came it still gave a bit of line smoothly and without any drama's.Im sure that it will get a few more sessions to prove itself soon but first impressions are important and yep this reel definately is fighting above its weight.Dont forget too it comes standard
  11. The first one was 42cm and here is the one that made it all worthwhile :woohoo:

  15. Thanks for the offer Big Lizard much appreciated but I have brokered a deal with Ranger and Im now in possession of another wonderful clearcut 1-3 kg rod. Today we made our acquaintance together and became more familiar and the lovely little rod is no longer a virgin.First cast first fish what more could a bloke want from his new fishing partner Just to prove what a wonderful partnership we will form she went on to score plenty more breamski's tooIm pleased to report that once again natural balance has been restored and all is sweet with the world.I can once again sleep at night cheers Fro

  18. Hi GuysDuring a great session on Monday with Chuck I had the unthinkable happen and busted my all time favorite bream rod.Naturally Im devastated and worst of all these rods are no longer made  On the off chance someone might have a Black Diamond Clearcut 1-3 kg that they do not want and would like to save a fellow fisho from further sleepless nights I would be greatly appreciative. PM me if this is so. :cheer: However as the realisation is setting in I might have to settle for another brand Ive been looking around at what is available. So far a gloomis dsr 8200 has caught my interest.
  19. The day a GW knocks on my door and then bites my head off is the day I would agree to culling them.We are entering their their environment where they are the top of the food chain, it is surely at our own risk. What about crocs, bronzies, lions, tigers, hippos, rays, snakes, dingoes, dogs, spiders, bee's etc etc etc. There are so many critters out their that have killed Human Beings throughout the ages what is the difference between all of them and Great Whites. Its part of nature the whole scheme of things bigger creatures eat smaller creatures which we happen to be. We kill so many of them don
  20. I can see both sides of the picture here. On one hand its important to promote the sponsors that help the site and pay for the right to advertise their businesses. If they are handing over cash to promote their shop then surely everyone can see why they might get slightly annoyed when someone steps up and uses these pages in a backdoor way free of charge. However this must only apply as Ranger has mentioned if the plugging is done by someone directly involved with the company. If a member is constantly telling all that Joe Blows Tackle Shop is fantastic and so cheap on a regular basis then I wou
  21. Yep it was bloody windy down that way. I went down and back to Robe through that way on Saturday and I chuckled every time I saw a 4wd with rods on as I thought they were either brave or crazy.Goes to show you've got to be in it to win it Great effortsnapps
  22. Ive caught some good bream up to 48cms on small clousers in chartreuse and white. I did however fish a Glenelg River comp a few years back with a fly only boater he used his own creation which he gave me a couple of which were loosely based on a baited breath. He swore that all good bream flies must have some orange in them. He bagged out so he knew his stuff.cheerssnapps
  23. I was in Whyalla this morning and thought to myself how perfect conditions were for a day out on the water.Pity I had to work while some lucky people enjoyed themselves fishing :cheer: Good to see you got a feed cheerssnapps
  24. Yeah I think that is known as Soft Plastic Explosive fishing :silly: :silly: :silly:
  25. You seriously have ISSUES on this subject and a weird idea on what is constructive  Chill out or you will pop something big timeWatersnake good onya for trying some of us can see where you are coming from and do not suffer from a blockage of the back passage.cheerssnapps
