  2. gday guys im getting ready to head out in my kayak in 6 weeks i know its early not much else to do! But im interested in some info on squidding from the yak or the jetty or a boat as i have never had much luck at all with catching squid. I would like some tips on rigs used and jags and maybe what to look for when casting or paddling in my yak. ie weed beds surrounded by sand patches or vica versa? any info would be much appreciated thanks Reelin!

  4. I thought i might as well comment on this as well! being a ex surfer and bodyboarder and also a new kayak fisherman(although due to the broken leg the maiden voyage will still be 6 more weeks) i love sharks and think they are magnificent beasts and they share top spot with crocodiles as my favourite in the animal kingdom. the only time i didnt like sharks was when i was in the water and i hoped to not come across old noahs ark! but knowing full well if i did i would be one unlucky f@#$ker. This did not stop me wanting to surf out the back of middleton where the gutters (that we surf fishermen
  5. my fiancee doesnt like just about anything that i like and vica versa she loves shopping i hate it unless its 4wd camping or tackle stores and then she hates it, i love sport she cant think of anything worse, We both like going for a drive in the hills and good food and wine me being an ex chef and she being an ex duty manager of a hotel, the only fishing she likes is on a boat which i dont have! she loves eating fish and im not a massive fan(didnt eat fish till i became a chef). we both like camping but havnt been yet, but the worst thing is when we do go fishing on a holiday or sumthing she
  6. dont mean to hijack the thread but are they easy to cast from the beach for surf fishing? and whats the difference in distance between that and say a penn 950ssm which i have if cast by the same person? i have this daiwa on my wishlist but ive never used a baitcast and am a little bit scared of birdnesting if casting long distances on windy days!
  7. welcome opti great read its definately got me enthused for boat fishing! dissapointing to hear that out of all the grounds in the water in the gulf people still find the need to fish next to each other and crowd each other out! ive pretty much stopped fishing from my local jetty due to this attitude and prefer to fish off the beach or in a river where there is a bit off space! I look at it this way, im a begginer fisho and most of the fun involved is learning new things. i ask for tips and hints but these are not asking for secrets or spots. if i had a boat id want to learn how to use the so

Good topic guys and girls i feel that education is definately a big factor in fishing and thats what these forums are doing is providing a way for opinions to be heard without nastiness and maybe even encouraging people to be more pro active.
