    braid probs

Wind knots when using light lures are a fact of life for most of us, especially when using the really light braids like 4lb.Sounds like you are doing all the right things, by ensuring it's tightly spooled and then retensioning constantly. It doesnt sound to me like the spool is overfilled, as you made mention that you have already lost a lot of line.My own suggestion would be to ensure you have a braid friendly reel which spools the braid properly, and to then retension the line a little more often. We all have our favourite brands of braid, and you'll only find your own through trial and error.

  3. Take the missus for a lunch at Maggie Beers Pheasant Farm Kitchen at Nuriootpa. I'm sure you could get a couple while you are there if you asked nicely, as they have cages of pheasants of many different varieties.
  4. I would agree that the area out from the Section Bank to the Black Pole is good for Bronzies. The littlies move in early in the season with larger ones coming later.I never use anything heavier than 15kg for the Bronzies out there (TLD 20, Charter Special, or even Saltiga threadline).Plenty of burley in a steady stream to attract interest.I prefer a livey suspended under a balloon, but Bronzies aren't real smart and will readily accept any presented flesh or strip bait.As already suggested, ensure they are properly spent before bringing them aboard, but you would already know the damage a green
  5. Only in America could they think shooting a bear in the arse as a viable solution. You wouldn't like him when he's angry! I guess their bear issue is similar in a way to our shark issue. Just like our sharks are coming to associate boats and the tourist industry with a feed, the bears have learnt that people equals a free feed, with all the idiots leaving their rubbish laying around.
  6. From my experience:If it aint flowing, dont bother going!
  7. How about 1 Saltiga 6500 threadline loaded with 80lb braid on a 6'8" Saltiga Coastal. Suitable for casting lures, trolling, bottom bouncing and also able to handle gamefishing species.Maybe a spare spool loaded with a light line (4-6kg), and a few spools of different leader. That should cover all bases.Add a pair of sandals, a spare pair of jocks in your back pocket, and naturally a camera so that you can share the adventure with the rest of us.I would purchase terminal tackle after discussions with the locals and determination of target species, fishing areas, water depths, tidal flow, etc.Do
  8. Eastern Water Dragons Physignathus lesueurii are semi-aquatic (hence being found near water) and arborial (sit in tree branches). They feed on insects, aquatic organisms, small terrestrial vertebrates, fruits and berries.Being a displaced native animal I cant see they'd pose too much of an impact given their suitability to the environment and the range of available feed stocks. There are skinks aplenty (which are not threatened or endangered) along with berries, vegetation and insects to keep them well fed. They would not have an adverse effect on the habitat itself, as they are well adapted to
  9. I have a suggestion!Sure go for it, but instead of a 1000 size reel, consider a 2506 instead or even a 2004.They are still both small reels of similar weight and suitable for light line, also with similar line capacities and capable of doing the same job, but instead of having a small spool such as the 1000, a 2506 has a wider and shallow spool, which you will find casts so much better and so much further than a 1000.
  10. Possibly another thing to add here, is why contemplate going solo at night unless you really have no other option? In all my years of boating and solo trips, I have never been out alone at night, and it's nice to know that you have a second pair of eyes and someone else to rely on just in case anything did happen to go wrong at night.
  11. I find my headlight to be invaluable for night trips.A handheld spotlight, GPS/chartplotter, thermos, and having everything stowed correctly so that I know where everything is, and I'm not tripping over anything in the dark.
  12. In my view they have all the features and quality of the higher end stuff.........without the hefty pricetag.
  13. Ahhh, that's where I went wrong! I forgot to turn at the Sip N Save..............geez I'm a silly XXXXX!
  14. It is perfectly legal for ANYONE to keep any fish should it be of size.I too release ALL my Bream and promote C&R on the species, but none of us have the right to abuse others who are following the law and within their legal rights.

I'm a big fan of the Texaliums, and wouldnt part with my own alfoil wrapped junk!
  16. Being a big fan of asian cuisine I have often eaten both dried fish and dried squid, along with many other dried products.Drying foods stuffs is just a simple method of preservation, for places where refrigeration isn't always an alternative, which involves salting and hanging.I would suggest for convenience, a simple and much faster alternative to drying would be smoking the fish instead.
  17. No problems patching neoprenes!Give Hornes a call. They are a South Australian company, and you could certainly get a patch/repair kit from them.If they are Horne Waders you may even get them repaired free of charge!
  18. Pretty hard to go past the old Shimano Baitrunners......tried and proven.
  19. 7 foot 2-4kg rod. 1500-2500 sized reel. 6-8lb flurocarbon or braid (maybe fluro to start with which will be better for the rocks and the squid).Nip into any tacklestore and they'll not doubt be able to show you a range of "combos" to get started with for between $100-200.Keep ya eyes on the classifieds here, and you'll no doubt pick up something even a little better for a reasonable cost.....possibly less! Here's an idea on what you can find here:http://www.strikehook.com/forum/64-buy-sell-swap-or-trade/170039-shimano-sahara-200fa-40http://www.strikehook.com/forum/64-buy-sell-swap-or-trade/1701
