  1. Hey just wondering if anyone knows of any Tackle shops in Adelaide stocking damiki branded plastics. Havent tried them myself, but the looks good and have grown a bit of a good rep, and have to try some myself. So any help would be great. Thanks
  2. Maybe he should change his last name to Mr Mooreon What a joke that is. Probablly just another way for the goverment to get something for nothing, most likely a shortfall in surplus for another political department. Some pollies have no idea
  3. I was thinking of getting the same reel for the same type of fishing. They are hard to beat!
  4. Im sure I replied to this post, but it isnt there... but Im with you guys. SHIMANO rules! But blatant personal prefernce aside what ranger said is spot on
  5. Nice fish snapps and gaffer!!! There is definetly a few around at the moment.
  6. Hey carps sorry to hear about you misfortunes,.. i know how it feels i was broken into a few months back while me and the missus where at work during the day. First thing i checked was the boat and rods, lucky they were all fine. ;D They mostly targetted jewellery and smaller eletrical goods. Good to hear you are getting your fishing gear replaced!!! :)Lee
  7. Have been trying those same plastics myself lately but in the 5inch, still yet to crcak one on that pattern yet though...
  8. Cracker mully chucky, im guessing it fell to a lure?? Cheers
  9. Okay just had a look on the shimano site for you, doesnt look they make the backbone's anymore but have a "eclipse" in the range, I have no idea what they are like but they come in 8' and 2-4kg, here is a link http://www.shimanofish.com.au/publish/content/global_fish/en/au/index/products/rods/Spinning/eclipse.htmlAlso they make a catana in the same length and rating. Just depends how much coin you want to spendCheers
  10. There was a 8' Shimano Backbone I think was 2-5kg on the market, not sure if it still is, and my brother has one. This may suit your needs and are a fairly good value for money rod, like most of the shimano fleet
  11. Just got my copy during my lunch break, only had a quick look so far. Good to see a few members in there again, including myself which was a bit of a suprise! ;D
  12. A 65 lb samson on a 4000 size reel??!! Hard to believe but some people will extend the truth a bit too get a sale. But maybe not... ::)And as for the reels, I havent had any experience with either BUT make sure you take your rod into your chosen tackleshop and try the reel on to see how it balances out first, much better fishing with a more balanced set up then not
  13. Have seen that reel before, one sexy piece of machinery. As for justifying it no one probablly could but in my eyes if you want something you buy it, not saying I would buy that reel but if I was rich.. possibly.
  14. That would be weavers ugly mug!! Looks like I will be hitting the newagents every day this week!
  15. Mine would have to be my Hotrods custom Swizzlestik 7' 1-3kg matched with my stella 1000.
  16. I think he was refering to the rod series grumps
  17. Hahah no wonder you had a banana of a comp haha. Hmm luvias hey, I like the reels but am a shimano man myself. Havent had a play with the rods yet
  18. And me!!! I have got heaps of catching up to do already and I been in it from the start...
  19. 3..... I use to lose a few fishing landbased, but now i have a boat I can usually get the lure back. Most lures I lose these days are too fish busting me off on structure
  20. Pity she didnt lubricate the knot as well!
  21. Keep an eye out on the classified section on here, you may be able to pick up a quality reel cheap. If not have a look on ebay for a older model second hand shimano stradic they will set you back around the $100 mark and are a tough reel. But you can never be sure of the quality from ebay. If you wanted brand new the penn affinity i think are around the 120 mark and are good reels. But without a more clarified price range it is hard to offer to much advice. Once you get the reel chuck some 4 or 6lb braid for it, you will find this breaking strain line will cast plastics with ease.
  22. Pete, as per braid brands etc, usually you want something with a low diameter to high braking strain ratio. The more you pay the better this gets. All though saying this all braids are different. A braid I use regularly is Nitlon PE which is about $38 a spool which you can get from salisbury dive and tackle world (who also sponsor the site) or you could go for some fireline which you can pcik up from your local big w. For leader material nitlon is another good brand which is also available at salisbury dive and tackle world, but berkley vanish will do the job which you can also get from big w.
  23. Steve,First things first what are you planning on targetting on plstcs?? Im not really in the know with those reels mentioned, but if you give us more info on what you plan to chase etc someone will be able help
  24. That is one BLACK bream, well done on the PB out of the stinka, better than I have ever landed out of there
  25. And i actually put my tips in and I got 2... I shouldnt try to pcik so many roughies in the first round. Got catching up to do now!!!
