  1. Hate the stuff in the light classes but 15lb should go sweet mate. You got a bargain too, thats pretty bloody cheap for a K
  2. Yes it is the sportfishing scene, i love the place and have been shoppin there since i was a kid, they support the sabt comps i fish, that being another reason i love shoppin there. And with Daz workin there im sure everyone that does fish the SABT gets looked after well like hes done for me. Myself and Leethal often have not got out onto the water at our desired time because weve been stuck talkin with one of the older boys about rod buildin or plastics fishin Mallacoota etc etc. Its great though plenty to be learnt from them.
  3. Just last week they sold my workmate who had never even set foot in there before a $269 tuff tackle reel for $100. This blokes only been fishin a few months as well, hence the reason i find a few comments on here mildly amusing.
  4. Only reason i say this is because there is only 1 will buy from and this shop usually has about 5 staff workin there. Im wondering if you are talking about this tackle shop where i am known on a first name basis, get wicked discount from and have picked up so many hints and tips from the boys workin there that i am certain they have helped me to become a better fisho.
  5. cmon you are jonny rotten, dont be soft and name them, as long as they not a site sponsor
  6. You can sort of understand why people do it though with how much it costs to live, raise a family etc these days, i mean how else are you gonna have a feel play and look at your next purchase if buyin off the net? If people can save $100 bucks to go towards other expeenses they are more than likely gonna do it. Also which fishing store is being referred to with the 5 rude staff? just interested to knowCheers, Ben

  11. WOW thats impressive, cheers for sharin the pic mate, Awesome
  12. Not a prob mate, With good care and maitinence it should last ya ages. I use a stradic 4000 and am running 10lb braid one spool and 20 on the other.
  13. The nexaves came out a few years ago mate. From memory they were a top little reel for the price. Knew a guy who used one for snapper and stuff and he loved it, pretty sure he got a 13kg kingy on it too. But yeah the 4000 would be perfectly fine for light snapper and mulloway luring as well as rat kings and big salmon even for whiting out of the boat as well. The 4000 size reels are very versatile. Hope that helped ya mate.
  14. Nice work, reckon it would be pretty sweet cleaning up on a lure that you have designed yourself. Well done Matt, Have ya come up with a name yet? lol.
  15. Hey mate, When im chasin the bigger stuff using heavier braid i always tie a double in the braid with a bimini no matter what, dont trust fishinn for bigger stuff without a bimini(i worry too much about knots slipping with a single strand), Then just cat paw the wind on, the cat paw is very easy to tie, youll be able to find a video or diagram online to show ya.
  16. I prefer the 1000 size reels as well, got 3 of em.In regards to theyre spool capacities i never fill them right up i just top shot 150m spools of braid onto them with quite a bit of mono backing. With some of the extremely thin braids on the market these days i have no doubt that you will be able to fit more than enough 6 pound braid on a 1000. Saying that tho i wouldnt use em for chasin snapper offshore or big mullies on lure and would def prefer a 2500 size or 4000 for this sort of work. HTH mate
  17. i use only fast actioned rods for all of my lure fishing. Blades plastics and harbodies, Ive got a luvias rod which Coight sold me for an absolute bargain. The action is rated at extremely fast and its the best rod for breaming ive ever used. My other 2 breamin rods are berkely pro tactics and they are both fast taper love them as well. I am finally happy with all my breamin set ups now. have used phlueger rods and a starlo stick as well these were pretty slow and i hated them. I just feel that with a fast tapered rod you can feel a hell of alot more down at the buisness end and this way i fee
  18. Gotta try that super PE soon, have never heard a bad word said about it. Anyone know which shops stock it in Adelaide?
  19. forgot to mention, reguarding wind knots i cant say i have ever had one of these using fireline and ive always had fireline on a couple of my reels at any time due to the cost factor. Wind knots will always happen when using very light true braid and very light lures, but after a while you soon get used to picking them out quickely and properly. But this can be extremely frustrating especially when fishin a comp and throwin a wind knot when you are onto a school, one of the reasons why havin 3 or 4 set ups ready is so handy as well, stick the knotted set up in the holder and grab another that
  20. Ahhh my dream fish, what a cracker, makes those ones from the weekends afc episode look like sprats lol.
  21. My only problem with fireline is how it wraps around the bottom of my spools when takin up the slack after lettin a plastic sink or when beggining my retrieve with a HB. Not sure why this happens as im using stellas and sustains which are pretty decent reels maybe its becuse they are only 1000 models or maybe its just the fireline im not sure, But when ive changed over to a true braid the problem dissapears???? Not sure why i cant work it out either. But yeah mate fireline is great stuff but if i were you id spend and extra 10 bucks and go with nitlon or power pro, much better than fireline IM
  22. Just start callin it very heavy beach mulloway fishin lol. What a joke sharks are everywhere, people just get the wrong idea when they see em gettin lugged up metro beaches and jetties and think that the reason they are there is the fishos fault.
  23. Awesome stuff mate. Certainly a moment you will never forget. Can just imagine it team weaver fishin the comps in 10-15 years time lol. Wil be a force to be reckoned with i think lol
  24. try the smaller slick rigs also, heard they go alright with the mullies
  25. Fishin plastics at night can be deadly on the bream. Its all about feel and keeping in direct contact with your lure under the cover of darkness as the hits also tend to be alot softer. Try plastics with plenty of inbuilt action like squidgy fish, wrigglers or gulp turtle back worms allowing your lures to sit on the bottom a bit longer as well. the biggest port river bream ive ever seen landed was caught landbased at about 11pm on a no.2 squidgy wriggler, from memory it went about 47-48cm fork length. Also cant see why adding scent wouldnt help in the dark either. This also works on the mullie
