  1. you'll be right.....I'd stay with the 30lb......tough outer coating and casts a dream......all good.so Sandy is a bit of a "smiling asassin" then?hmmmmmmmmmmmm...........at least you're happy though........fiver says "she" answers first
  2. .......thought mine was tough vb4me  ......good luck mate
  3. Del wrote: I thought that it would taste like everything else...........CHICKEN!If it were me,they would be croc crap by now..........they wouldn't be missed, because there's plenty more knobs where they came from
  4. well done vb4me.......good to see the little guy's getting a good break every now and then Platinum is pretty good line, reckon you'll enjoy using it probably try and get that hat back from SWMBO though

  6. Mustad Penetrators........super sharp and a fine wire, but ultra stong
  7. Up until about 2 years ago,I had a Jarvis Walker "Black Queen" estuary rod.......about 7 feet in length and rated at 5 to 12 lb from memory.....a great solid fibre glass rod, with the old stainless steel ferrule.....caught plenty of fish as well.Paid about $30 for it 25 odd years ago.Saw a brand new one in K-mart the other day.......exactly the same as I remember......and was $35......and was twice as good looking as the "no-name" that was twice the price.........
  8. an honest man looks a real ballsy, don't argue type rod.......the way it should always be
  9. love my 8144's too nev great pics mate what was on the other end
  10. Go to the tackle shop, tell them your budget and what you're after,it's intended use,and I'm sure they'll see you right......especially the guy's on here ....what area are you in?......I'm sure one of the blokes here are close by,they'll talk to you. After-all,it is their business, and they lose customers and reputation if they sell you a "bum steer" It's going to be a "win - win" situation
  11. The Daiwa Sealine 900H and the Senator 9/0 are pretty much on a par as far as I'm concerned.........line capacity,reliability,ruggedness..........and weight........They are both bullet-proof,old school type reels, that are perfect for your application. The Penn 950 is a good surf reel too......thinking 320m of 30lb........plenty.my 2c worth.
  12. not that bad,but along the same line.......I was at Browns many years ago,and went into a bit of scrub for a leak......just about to "commence" and the bush in front of me rustled, and up stood a big grey bugger......he bounded off without incident,I did my bit,and almost had a follow through as well
  13. tonyb wrote: would get Bugs Bunny barred up,that's about it for mine......give me an 8144 any day

  15. probably have more luck getting a dollar from a Jew than a spot for a jew in the Port.....
  16. Father-in-law has only got a couple of good hauls this season from the boat.....this is in "his" areas between Ardrossan and Port Vincent.....Heaps of smaller under-sized crabs........10:1 at least under-sized to legal.......even the keepers haven't really got a lot of meat in them. All in all,a lean season on Yorke's in our experience. The jetties seem to be quiet, and the rakers not doing much better.
  17. excuse my ignorance.......is it a cosmetic thing,or does it perform a function
  18. I have a Shakespeare Agility IM7 Graphite 12 foot 2 piece rated at 3 to 6 kg.......I run an old 4500 Baitrunner with 12 lb mono on it for salmon at Waits,Browns and Salt Creek......pretty good in my eyes.Only cost me $120 brand new 12 months ago.Maybe something like that?
  19. brenton wrote: I really should do that because carrying around 2k worth of lures is gonna come back to bite me but i'm always a"just in case" type of guy. cheers brenton2k of lures......that's a lot of hardware

  21. I like to use Yozuri Hybrid line.Have a couple of TLD 25's,and an ABU 10,000 spooled with 30 and a 6/0 and 9/0 Senator spooled with 50.......does all that I want it to do off the rocks on Yorkes.........another option for you
  22. some of my best friends are lurkers..........
  23. You're going to return them anyway aren't you?No "different" than walking the street and finding a stray dog, reading it's tags and ringing the owner to say you found it!
