  2. thats what i enjoy about this forum so much.. THE FRIENDLINESS....someone askes to go fishing, and the offer is there so they can...i wish i could give out 20 karmas all at once.
  3. thefunkychicken wrote: yeah rod varnish.. adds a clear coat to the blank, and seals it bringing out a nice shine....tackle shop should stock it... around 10-15 bucks... i brushed mine on, and left the rod to rotate overnight.
  4. same motor as the one i bought and set up... be careful the spiogot doesnt work its way out... if the rollers are slightly out of alignment, it will slowly track out and pull that spigot out.. i locktited mine in place, as it will only be used for rods...LOOKING EXCELLANT THOUGH... are you going to varnish the rod with rod varnish? try not to get to much on the thread, as it seems to dull the shine of the epoxy a bit
  5. i dig a hole at the waters edge, and put in pillies, tinned cat food, and dry cat food... then cover it up... gives a slow release of berley for a very long time as the waves wash the sand....ive seen pillies popping up 5 hrs later.
  6. looking good southie....hint... to make sure the truck gets a good clean underneath, park it over a sprinkler for a couple of minutes... now in todays water restrictions, it may not be possible to turn the water on, but do what must be done.

  9. is that an alligator fish? ive heard about them, but never seen one b4...not the kind of jugging i was expecting though....
  10. fishy, there is some quality rods in the specialty shops, and some great rods off the shelf...may i suggest you have a go at building your own rod? far more satisfying IMHO.... i had a great time doing mine, and it IS addictive as THEFUNKYCHICKEN says it is...its not that easy, and takes some serious eye straining, but it doesnt take long to get your head around what works best for each person.. loads of concentration needed, but at least when finished, YOU made it, in the colours you chose, and there will never be another the same.ive re done 3 rods now, all snyderglas', and im waiting for th
  11. very nice.... i like the colours, not a footy fan at all, but i do notice nobody ever does the crows colours hahahahawhat are you using to turn the rod overnight for the epoxy to dry? i bought a spit rotator, and made a bracket up to mount it on... turns nice and slow to make sure the epoxy doesnt run and pool up on the bottom... you wait til you coat it, them colours will REALLY come to life......top job mate... well done.

  17. mine would have to be taking my eldest daughter for her first fish when she was 5....i stopped for a stop sigh, on a hill, and the cop hiding said i didnt stop... he had the ticket book out, and my lass said " hello" he looked in the back, and said hello miss...where are you going...my girl said we were going fishing... so he said well you better get on your way then...NO TICKET...yeeehaaaaaaaaaaa.gets to the beach, on the beach itself, baits her up with a cockle, and casts her in... gave her the rod, and 10 secs later... dad ive got a fish...." ok hun.... wind it in then"she wound in for 6 f
  18. im still trying to work out WHY nsw would provide s.a. with tags... defeats the purpose of tagging does it not? i might as well just import tags cheap from america or something like that to really confuse people....or is a case of nsw thinking they are better than us again?
  19. next time i speak to my pro snapper fisher mate, i will ask him a few questions... he catches tagged snapper a lot, and part of his license agreement is he MUST report the info of a tagged snapper he has caught.same as he must report shark sightings, which he is doing a lot of.off topic a bit, but not really.i would be interested in knowing where the cuttlefish come from each year.common knowledge that whyalla has the largest congregation of giant cuttlefish in the world, and they arrive every year to breed and then die...where do the young uns go, and where do they come from ?they come back y
  20. im a fan of the pink yo-zuri, but sadly they are not built like they used to be.within 2 or 3 trips, the eyes fall out.my old green and pinks i used to have worked wonders, but they were that slammed and chewed up from big cuttlies and squid ripping them apart almost, they became BETTER than if they were new.ive also found when they fade a lot they work better, ut dont kow if thats becasue of the colour change, or because they have been beaten up and look sick, or becasue they have gained a smell to them.the old definatly out catches the new ive found though. i use them over the newer ones, u
