  1. StateSquider. Something I was told from a tackle retailer is that for the money both are an excellent product as far as quality but they felt shimano was a little pricier due to the amount of advertising done compared to daiwa. True or not I dont know. I have only in the last couple of years started to use spin reels and was quite happy with a cheap (very cheap) shakespeare reel and an ebay special that was given to me. I then moved up to a daiwa reel given away with a fishing mag subscription and the difference was amazing. I now own a daiwa exceller a low mid range reel and that feels brilli
  2. Comes down to common courtesy, common sense and respect. None of which MOST jet skiers wake board boats and ski boats have. As long as they are havin fun who cares. They all have a right to be on the water as do fisherman and divers but a bit of respect between different groups would go a long way. And most of all no matter what group, look after our waterways, cos when its gone we all miss out on what we enjoy.
  3. Ah ok. Just thought when you said he was a pro Ya meant a pro pickler??? What about not cookin the cuttlie at all just put it in the pickling mix. Vinegar cooks stuff anyway
  4. ah ha. sheet. I gotta get with the times. Im still wearin converse all stars
  5. Excellent job there mate.Btw wots BW's
  6. Have you not tried askin your missus cousin?
  7. I take it Fishie thats the current rules. This possession limit is not in effect yet and still needs finalisation. Apparently some sort of survey has been done but the information is still being processed. Snapper and whiting are definitely on the list but other species may be added. I would be guessing it might be another 12 months or more before it is actually implemented. And what better excuse to go for a fish than theres none left in the freezer Maybe thats something that needs to be addressed, the mentality of its legal so who cares. Before laws were brought in for pollution people us
  8. Possession limits could be a good thing. At the moment we have daily bag limits which seem quite generous. If you eat a lot of fish you would obviously go out more often to get what you need for a feed and thats fine but the people who go to a certain area at a certain time of year cos a particular fish "is on" and holiday for a week or two to fill their freezers to take home and last for 6 months are to blame for yet another law being brought in. As davetheslave said you should be allowed a reasonable amount but what really does seem to be happening is the raping of an area because it is leg
  9. Yep know the can. Never tried it though. Thought it was a bit of a lure for fisherman lookin for a way to look after their gear. Up the price cos its a specialty item when a cheaper can of wd40 would have done the same job. After reading the msds I think inox is definitely the go
  10. What the........... Dont worry your secrets safe with us :silly: Well they do say it is food grade
  11. Hey Del what is in tackle guard? It has been around for a number of years. Have never used any of these on my fishing gear though just in case the fish can taste it
  12. Just the nature of things I suppose. Just like the fishin mags put out how to catch a............. at similar times every year and car mags put the same tech articles up every 12-18 months. Newcomers request that info wanting to aquire info and older or the more knowledgeable get bored with the same stuff. Opinions and the way society sees things change so we will probably see this same topic reappear again next summer.Oh and my opinion on the matter, this year . We should have safe swimming beaches, and at the expense of the GW too bad. They have enough ocean out there to not need the first
  13. Here try thishttp://www.inox-mx3.com/inox.htmKnew of inox and lanox but they have a good range of stuff
  14. Inox is the Aussie version of wd40. So its better . It also doesnt dry out the way wd40 does. I have used the stuff for ages now. Apparently its non toxic too.
  15. The last reel I filled I put the spool of line (braid) onto a smallish bolt that was then put into the chuck of a cordless drill, I then wound on to the reel from that. Went on nice and tight.
  16. Just watched it. Absolutely brilliant. We have something truely unique here and the risk of wiping out a species cannot be justified. We may treat them as just bait but without them I would hate to see what would become of our snapper fishing  Plus something like that is also a great tourist drawcard.

  19. Tis good to have a woman that loves fishin. Only 1 problem. It costs twice as much for tackle Think most here now know my misses
  20. Pros easy to clean low maintenance if ya drop em in the sand you can rinse off in the water thats by your feet :cheer: Not much inside to stuff upCons ummm cant really think of any
  21. Was always under the impression that the first number was amount of wraps then the next three numbers was the length in inches. Might pay to give one of the local rod builders a ring to find out or Gary Howard in Queensland who uses//used snyderglas blanks.
  22. Mate if your goin for that bigger stuff then an upgrade is definitely on the ccards for ya. Good luck
