  1. Nice fish mate - pearler... Imagine that first hit was like a car crash!!! Ive caught heaps of snook hey but never gone over 75cm on one... my mate down Victor Harbor seems to find bigguns like your Snooky ;) very cool fish wouldve been spewin if it nipped you off at the last second lol

  2. They don't Flaps because I advised some time back " to never get involved in Chat Forums" and for once it seems SAFAC must have taken this advice.

Mate, whats the story? Do you have anything positive to contribute? Stick up a decent fishing report and please god save me from organisations established to represent the rec angler! Personally, i think its only a matter of time before the carpark goes and residential buildings riseim just not really that clear on who would pocket the $25mil.
  3. Firstly - Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to post in this thread :)After some consideration we have decided to lock this up. Members will still have access to view the content, but for those of you wishing to contribute, please consider using the Report Section. This will ensure your reports are only viewed by members & lets face it, most of the reports here deserved their own thread. Again thank you for all who have contributed and we encourage you to continue doing so in the designated Fishing Reports Category.CheersJack
  4. I reckon the split grip is mainly just cosmetic appeal. The best sensitivity is going to come from a cork grip anyway.Having said the above, I really liked a mates Shimano Jewel when having a loan once and so soon found myself in a tackle shop with my 2500 Twinpower reel in one hand and a fist fulla cash in the other. I tried a few rods and found the light weight jewel balanced very nicely - This is easy I think because the split grip design would've given the makers length options to suit the balancing with standard modern 2000ish reels. In contrast the shorter full cork rods in say a GLoomis are (I gather) made with much more precision re: how they balance - with little length to play with behind the reel, the whole thing needs closer consideration - what Im suggesting is the jewel designers could've made whatever they wanted re: taper and length forward of the reel seat and then just added length and a chunk of split grip to balance her out for a generic 2000ish reel. - where-as much more consideration is required when there is no butt to play with. There is an argument for high sensitivity directly from the blank I guess, but cork is always going to be lighter than any other material i'm aware of an highly sensitive anyway. On balancing, I could see someone getting by with slight butt weight but I used a mates poorly balanced tip heavy rod one morning and I nearly threw it at him - very poor and awkward.Horses for courses, but I like all my rods to be well balanced, that way you begin any action from a neutral position - fighting fish and targeting lures (and baits for that matter) is tough enough without permanently compensation for poor weight distribution. You only want to use the energy you have to use- let the rod sling yer lure to spot x and use the same rod to angle your fish back to you :)- hope that made some sense - if not I can always cut-paste from a more reliable source of opinion -P.s What's the difference between an onion and a Port Adelaide player?? Nobody cries when you peel a Port Player

  5. Congrats mate!!! I wonder if there is a better fish in the ocean???Top effort- I do a lot of solo fishing and honestly mate you must have willed that fish into the boat haha cos I really doubt I could manage something like that... the wonders of adrenaline :) You hear stories of mums gaining super strength to protect their kids - ...and fisho's gaining super power to manhandle their catch over the gunwhales :):) :woohoo:

  6. I have this problem intermittently as well and usually completely clear my browser history' date=' cache, cookies etc and it goes away. I reckon it's a Chrome problem more than anything else as I tend to experience hiccups on other websites as well.[/quote']I have a samsung S4 that I access the site with - mainly. When using GOOGLE CHROME as the phones browser I constantly had issues.very frustrating. I had log in issues but even more annoying was writing lengthy posts then having them freeze up. Ive since dissabled chrome and no more issues. I understand thats not really an option if you are a chrome user on the PC. I just hope we haven't lost too many members due to these issues :(
  7. Be giving some serious consideration for this beast if you can pull a few extra $$$http://www.graysonline.com/lot/0001-3003350/boats-marine-and-aircraft/haines-hunter-boat-620-sf-flatline-6-5-metre-hin-auhhu62059j797cheers 4THA

Surely that thing will go for much more than 25k :ohmy:That aside, you need to be very discriminating when it comes to the motor on any given boat. Remember its the package mate BMT.Loads of people get fooled by nice hulls - especially at yards man, the dealers have all sorts of old donks stuck on decent hulls - when ive looked at boats I expect to get a boat and motor of similar vintage if not you want the motor to be younger than the boat know what I mean - be careful of nice boats repowered with donks 10-20 years older than the boat ;)My boats worth $1.99c lol but if spend8ng $20k id be realistic. Probably dont worry too much about outrageous bargains, go for tried and true staun h boats and motors.if I were you, I would be looking at the Haines Hunter V19's find one and have a on water test. Cheers
  8. I had a few of the cheapy ones off of ebay a year or so ago. Then got some thrown in with a birthday present.Honestly, I wouldnt bother with these. They were really crap and the overhead didnt lay the line which made it impossible to use.If anyone's considering one, I would get the brand name ones thathave a chance of working - ie not completely flimsy and shit with dodgie line and an un functional reel.cheers

  9. Loving my bream fishing again lately. Find using blades just costs a lot of money in lost tackle. They will work nicely by im just too spaz an too poor. Plastics do a very good job and can be fished just as deep if the current is friendly. I fished a heap of structure around a storm drain in the port a few weeks back and caught a heap of bream on vibes lost 3 lures in an hour though and tied on a hook and some pilchard lol

  10. Thats a good idea mate - sounds cool.Oi Bjorn _ I will need a Beanie too mate :) dont know how they work but would be good if they were cheap and easy to sort. The way just for the record - I hate them tournament style shirts :P

  11. I took the Triton down there after x-mas :)Never been before and I took it very cautiously. Went down to 15psi on advice from a guru but was pleasantly surprised in my trucks performance and the track itself. seems like one of the rare b7ts of fun we south australians are allowed to have now a days lol. When I first set off a Patrol of all thi gs got stuck immediately. .. honestly dont know how that was even possible lol. Had all windows down including the rear one and me wife and two kids just cruised along in 3rd gear with the revs slightly high. Was a nice long adventure made k8nd of eerie in parts due to the l9w visibility from I assume the spray. There were deffinately a few areas that would suck in bad weather - heavy traffic, or squeezed by high tide. The 9nly thing that annoyed me was s9me of the high speed antics - theres just no need to go ball tearing along bouncing around. Flew back from mt gambier last month and the pilot flew low giving us an awesome evening/dusk coorong view - I love that part of the world man - only recently been in there with the tinny and now 4x4 etc - the rest of my life has been a waste hahahey Crusher I particularly like how you asked the question then after the adventure you came back and filled us in. Awes9me cheers man and gd luck at lincoln
